Glad to see "THE VERMONT CENTRAL PATLET COMPANY "DOES A LOADED PALLET TRAINS BACKHAUL ....😊😊😊YOU KNOW THE CLASS 1 RAILWAYS ARE GOING TO VERY JEALOUS OF MILLBROOK RAILWAYS LOADED BAACKGAULS ... HOPES THESE TRAINS INSPIRES THOSE CLASS 1 RAILWAYS 😊😅😮😢🎉😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
all the extra shots and editing are well appreciated, fun to watch 👍
Thanks for posting.
Great to hear the RR is getting more Pellet Business
The chickens are a riot!
Now what we really need are some scale hopper cars!
A working railroad. I enjoyed the video. Thanks
It must be fun having a miniature railroad
I can be, but it is also a lot of work.
Back in the late 80’s, I lived in El Paso to reply to an ad selling used locomotives, rolling stock and turnouts. It was German products and sold for a good price! I had Athern, Rivarossi and Bachmann items… I learned that You need a stout power pack to run the track and accessories. My dad used basic wire buses to power the sections of track and turn outs.. insulated rail joiners, power wire tracks and a good layout made a difference! Kudos to your operation!!! ❤️❤️❤️💎💎💎👍👍👍👍😎
I like looking at what you're doing around your railroad. Especially all of your animals.
The weather is finally getting good I am in New Hampshire, that remote sims to real handy for switching cars.
Yes, indeed! The remote is a lot more handy than I thought it would be.
Awesome!!
When you say 'Working on the RR' it's work!!!!! I jus play trains with my O scale layout!
Looks like you need a flashing strobe on the engine to let people know when you're running remote.
Very therapeutic to watch, great setup. I think I have a touch of layout envy! Squeaking bearing no, a chicken on the line lol.
Awesome to see that small of a train can haul that many bags of wood pellets
Man, this railroad is strictly for the birds! LOL
At least it hasn't gone to the dogs. :-)
You got some guts you have my respect for sitting on top of them cars like that
You need another engine to run a DPU!
At the very least, another loco to M-U.
Just watched your second video and the joy of moving wood pellets and just having fun with the train!!
Patrick
Sebastopol, CA
beautiful ideas!
Great home railroad - love it!!
That was wonderful to see.
I like this train, it looks like it can really move!! Fast.
All of 12 miles per hour
Fun times with cool toys.
C H I C K E N S. I like chickens :)
First rr video where I’m actually jealous
Im new here and I have a question: is the locomotive strong enough to drive more than five people? 70kg (150 pounds)? Thank you!
It's strong enough to haul 1000-lbs up a 3% grade, so five people shouldn't be a problem. Each pallet load of wood pellets is 2000 pounds.
@@MillBrookRailroad thank you for the information! Have a niece morning/evening/night!
You need another locomotive for a pusher to help on the grade.
I definitely need another locomotive.
Absolutely!
@@MillBrookRailroad Maybe a live steam one that runs on wood pellets. 👍😁 It's a thought 🤦♂️🙄 Love your setup. 😎
Nice little set up you've got there👌 awe where's your 87' excess hieght boxcars, 87' oil tank/ propane tank cars, 3 bay covered hoppers cars, 2 bay covered hoppers, gondolas, refrigerated boxcars, caboose, lol😂😅😆🤣 nice little train you've got there. More please, ✌️👌👍 Was that a domeless tank car by the shed??? Cool👍✌️👌✌️✌️👍
Thanks!
I don't really need any box cars. They're hard to load and unload. I don't haul and oil, but I will be hauling maple sap at some point, so tank cars are definitely in the future. Flat cars do almost everything I need and the moment and, unfortunately, my one open hopper fell apart. I have about six new cars waiting to be finished and they'll be flats and open hoppers with ballast gates. I have no use for cabooses. I have a blinking light for the tail coupler.
...and yes, that is a domeless tank car. It's my unfinished weed sprayer car.
Runaway flatcars!
You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet.
30:02 Godzilla style shunting ;D
For chickens it's not a compost heap, it's a al fresco restaurant.
This railway has everything but a long tunnel (hint, hint future project???)
Tunnels are expensive.
looks like you had a washout
Where?
That is a huge chicken.
As Chickens go, she actually is large. :-)
Stuff happens!
Am i dreaming, at 31:39 the front axle of EBT flat seems jammed and not turning ?
Don´t rush by the way. If your railroad is a common carrier, you have 2 days to load/unload cars before demurage fees starts.
Nice video of a real freight train carrying load.
It was moving. Streaming video doesn't always show motion very well.
Now, on the hurry to get it done: there are many reasons. Not the least of which would be to get the wooden cars back under cover before it snows or rains again. That's where common carriers have an advantage. They don't have to worry about their rolling stock rotting on a siding.
@@MillBrookRailroad Ouf !! I wasn´t sure anyway. Always very pleasant to see your runs. Keep up the good work with fun.
How kool is this ??
literally a ton of wood pellets! what is the load limit for the horse shoe curve?
No.1 engine pulls well, but you usually leave one or two flat cars behind.
with about 800 lbs per car, that is a bunch of weight to move. the first car
looked as if it had more on it then the rear flat cars. or was that imagination?
how many of the M.O.W. cars do you have? it is great how you use them to do the heavy
movement’s over carring the items all the way by hand.
The first car had 1000-lbs on it. That's the weight limit of the railroad.
That must be really expensive
It can be if you're not careful. With a lot of resourcefulness, hard work and studying how a railroad goes together, you can build a railroad for about $7 to $10 per foot. If that sounds like a lot, consider that it is major infrastructure and that it doesn't need to be built all at once.
I spent about $1000 a year for the past decade building my railroad. That's still cheaper than buying a tractor or a decent used car these days. That's also using mostly used or pre-owned rail and ties. A lot of the rolling stock was bought used or I built it myself. Only the locomotive and the 105 flat car were bought new. You have to start somewhere.
Exceeding the Maximum Continuous Rating there, eh? :-)
Maybe a little. :-)
Do you think more weight on the trucks could help keep the cars on the tracks?
I need to rebuild the trucks on the wooden flat cars. They are sprung too heavily and aren't very flexible. More weight would help in the short term but rebuilding trucks would be best and it might make an interesting video.
Is there a firewood shipper yet.....or per has a Transloads Facilities........your Corporation has room to grow...God prays..
It's all farm related traffic. No real business. Just stuff that needs to go from one place to another around the property. During February, March and April, the ground is too soft to move things any other way than by rail. Even the driveway turns into a muddy mess.
15:32 Is that one of them thar 'lectric automobiles? Gawsh! :)
Yes, it is electric. It's a used Chevy Volt that I got cheap. Saves me hundreds every month.
@@MillBrookRailroad Last count, I think we had 5 or 6 electric cars here in Australia ;)
I am going to start building a 15" GP-38 locomotive. It's part of my bucket list. Where, or who did you get your couplers from???
I have been looking around and can't seem to find what i want. Any help would be appreciated! Love the videos!! Keep them coming! Jim B.
My railroad is about half that size, so the couplers I get may not work for you. Banta Modelworks may know where to get the couplers you need. www.bantamodelworks.com/
Pretty cool, that it's an actual miniature working railroad as well as just a fun hobby. ;-)
How much do those flatcars weigh? You pick them up like they're nothing... :-O
Chickens aren't very bright, are they? No one told them you don't try to beat the train across the tracks... LOL
The flat cars that I lift are about 60-lbs each. They're not as easy to lift as it looks.
Them chickens are huger
Than in Nebraska.
Is there a way to add additional storage batteries to another car and connect them in parallel for extended run time while hauling freight? Very nice setup indeed.
Sure, but there's no need. I can run all day on the batteries in the loco.
Even the little guys need help from the
"Hand of God"
Looks like you need to get some track repair work done
Winter is hard on the track.
When, or if, will you be completing a full loop around your property?
No full loop but I'll be building roadbed to the lower parts of the property starting this summer.
@@MillBrookRailroad Very disappointed you're not planning on a full loop of track. Maybe build a reverse-loop at each end of the main line.
@@Conn653 It's all about the lay of the land and the practicality of the railroad. I have a siding on each end where I can run around the train and with an engine I ride on, it does what a return loop would do without taking up extra real estate. When the railroad is finished, I'll have a turntable on each end to turn locomotives and snow plows.
🤓🍻👍
@@MillBrookRailroad just like the North Conway RR. The engine can switch from front to the back with the siding! Great video! What is the length you have completed?
This is a dangerous railroad operation. Every time I watch there is a derailment or runaway cars. How long will it be before he runs over a chicken?
Chickens aren't so stupid as to let a slow moving train hit them. They can run faster than the locomotive can go.
Don't you like chicken soup or chicken and dumpings?
thx -for that nice chiled video - i ve enjoed od it it eveninigs cuddled with my gf - better then netflix - sry for bad english - greetings from germany!!! keep it going on!but hey - i would like to ask - how much is the weigt of the flatbed wagon itself - and the diesel lokomotive ? it would be so awe some if could control the switche with an ARDuino Nano via Bluetooth - so you mustn t get of your ride - i m hobby electricst ! the only thing that left if it be possible to you to power all switches with 5 volts - love the cat crossing the tracks at 15:50
The small green flat cars are about 28kg empty, the large black flat car is about 55kg empty and the battery electric locomotive is about 90kg without the driver. 90 more with me sitting on it.
It was controlled by an Arduino at one point, using simplified serial and about 30 lines of code, written in C. I had some issues with ground loops and took it out until I could do a better job.
Currently, the locomotive is controlled using a 2.4GHz digital surface radio control system.
5V would be too low a voltage to motorize switches, but it's not necessary as they are all spring switches and can be set to direct traffic in each direction.
@@MillBrookRailroad woow - thx for your quick response - amazing - will support ya
Your flat cars are on "HOT BOX" trucks.
The 101 and 102 have ball bearings and the 105 has roller bearings. It just looks like they have plain bearings.
The plow, on the other hand, has bronze bushings.
Did you build all the cars and locos?
I rebuilt the 70 a few times, but I am still in the process of building 71. I built the 1001 gondola, which I'm in the process of restoring, and I'm still working on the weed sprayer tank car that spends most of its time in a siding. I built the two garbage skows that we use to carry chicken manure. Locomotive 18 and the 101 and 102 flat cars were built by Plum Cove Studios. The 105 flat was built by Wright Rail Works. The Russell plow was built by Richmond Mountain Railroad.
There's more, but it's all in pieces.
Where is Mill brook rail road, what state ? you never said of its location ? Why ?
It's in Windsor, Vermont. I don't mention the location often because it is rarely important to the story line of the video.
Is the mill brook Diesel remote controlled
What do you haul in the tank car?
It's a weed sprayer car. It carries industrial grade vinegar.
🤓🍻👍
No road to help ?
No road and the ground is very soft this time of year, so a road vehicle would sink to the axles.
Unless you meant something different?
Are you going to add air brakes so neither the train or the loco move when they shouldn’t?
I do plan to add automatic brakes at some point.
I wonder how long it would have taken to move all by hand.
It would have taken a couple hours. This only takes 30-45 minutes.
be neat if you could back the flat cars into shed loaded and save your back
I would still have to unload them.
Can you buy this stuff or nah
The green flat cars come from www.plumcovestudios.com
They also have a good starter locomotive.
How much does your rail cars weigh?
The wooden flat cars weigh about 60 to 75 pounds. The EBT 105 flat car weighs about 100 pounds.
why do you get so many pellets?
We have two buildings we heat with wood pellets.
Late at night, instead of counting sheep that he doesn´t have to fell asleep, he counts pellets...and stay warm...
The more pellets you have, the more pay late you can do (sorry, dumb dad joke...).
Parce qu´en hiver il faut que tu pelletes la voie (cause in winter you must shovel the track) ... an other bad dad joke...
Would it lesson the details if yo added axle to the locomotive?
Would the Board of Directors approve another engine ????? For that pellets Customers...??????????????????
There already is another engine. It is out of service due to an electromechanical failure.
I see a need for a DPU
So do I. Either that or another locomotive to M-U with.
What is the gauge of your track ?
Runaway flat cars
take the chickens for a ride
Playing Chicken on the Railroad is not a good idea. 2:50
Well, they are chickens. That's what they do. Lol!
My cat got in way it should be u have no road crew to help
No crew this time. Everyone else was either at work or at school and I had the afternoon off.
Chicken poop.
40 minutes of. Couple. Decouple. Forward. Reverse. Derail. Rail. Forward. Reverse. Chicken deheaded by train
That's just railroading.
@@MillBrookRailroad Almost like what I did. Just retired as an engineer after 32 years. I like this small scale better than the actual ones. Much success to you!
