I honestly think that EJ alone is going to have interesting character development. EJ and Gina's relationship will also have a lot of development as well. I think they will become closer in season 2 but I love all of the ships in this show. I can't say if I want Ricky with nini or Ricky with gina. On one hand I love how Ricky and gina are vulnerable with each other but Ricky and nini are so supportive of each other and when things get heated she's their to put out the fire.
@LilT Marshall yes. Gina and Ricky need to have a conversation and get closure, and then gina should be with EJ. They both just want someone to love them (especially EJ. The stupid things he did when he was with nini wasn't because he was being possessive, it was because he was genuinely terrified of losing her. He tells ashlyn [or was it gina?] that he 'can't lose her' because she 'wasn't like any girl he had ever dated', implying at past relationships before nini, maybe even a semi-toxic one somewhere, that didn't work out. EJ may be your typical popular high school jock in some ways, but he doesn't exactly strike me as a 'player'. And since his good looks and charm would naturally draw a lot of attention from girls, it makes sense that he'd use that to find love and affection, which he doesn't seem to get a lot of at home judging from the way his dad acted. At the time he thought he'd finally found that with nini, and he didn't want to let that go. Sad, I know, but it makes sense), and the way EJ smiles at gina is just.......awwww🥰🤗 They make each other happy in ways that ricky and Gina never did.
Ricky and nini obviously have stuff to work through, but Ricky being mature enough to admit that the person he was becoming was hurting everyone around him and that nini didn't deserve that gives me hope for them. Especially considering how heartbroken they both were when they did what they both knew was necessary for the time being. I personally think Ricky and nini had been through so much together and have way too much history to not end up together in the end. To me, it might even be a little unfair after everything they went through 😆 People are saying that they shouldn't and won't get back together, but it's definitely possible. I don't know if you watch The Goldbergs, but Erica, one of the main characters, broke up with her boyfriend of four seasons, Geoff, for kind of a similar reason of 'not wanting to hold him back', and both were pretty broken up about it. Cut to now, not only did they get back together, they got engaged 😄 So, yeah. There's still hope for rini yet!
