It was better to be underrated than to be overrated, because this movie has a fresh life coming of age story to adulthood, and I freaking love it. 😆👍
Shemeik Moore was also great in The Get Down from Netflix also a hip hop era based series
My feelings were hurt when they get down got canceled they cancel all the good shows!
Yes, I was crushed too!
I watched it all the way through over and over. 🎉
Please do your next video on Selena 1997 movie because helped introduce Selena to thousands of new fans and has been part of continuing her legend, despite her shortened career.
Can you please do your next video on the 1997 classic movie Selena because the movie also helped immortalize Selena’s legacy following her untimely death, becoming a cultural maker for Mexican Americans and other Latinos who saw their own cultural family experiences reflected in her life story.
As a fan of Rick Famuyiwa, I remember expecting something more in the vein of what he did with The Wood, and some of that is present here.
But a lot of the modern elements with the drugs, bitcoins, and all the weird stuff Chanel Iman/Lily took me out of it. I might have to give it another try.
Speaking of Lily, the theater was cracking up when a family took their kids with them, and then had to leave once her character started disrobing. 🙃😭😂
Me too, love this movie. I saw it in the theater, bought the DVD, and watched it again a couple of weeks ago when I visited a relative.
That interview had meeee weak….how am I supposed to eat my pound cake?…like sirrrrrrrrr 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣

I haven’t seen this movie since it came out! It had me calling everything a “slippery slope” lol I loved the vibe of this film and the high stakes. And this was my introduction to bitcoin 😂
I loved this movie because i could relate to Malcolm & i also loved how Rick Famuyiwa put De’Aundre Bonds back on his feet.
Eventually , this movie will be one of those nostalgic movies that our kids look back on 🖤
I love how you mix in them classic songs with the films you do it too smooth
One of my favorite movies growin up✅✅👍🏾

Dope is one of my favorite movies. I think it’s gonna become a classic eventually. Malcolm and his friends reminded me of myself growing up as a Oreo 😂😂
You are (in my humble Australian opinion) the best reviewer I have ever seen! This was great 🐨❤️
You're the best for watching!

That brief Scenario snippet had me start the video over a few times 🤣
I didn't really understand this movie. I guess I have to go back and rewatch it.

This was like two different movies to me. It started off light hearted and funny and then went dark and serious. All in all it was a decent film but fell short of being a classic imo.
New classic ❤
I loved this movie it was so underrated!
I love this movie, soundtrack and your review
Thank you I love the soundtrack for this one too!

Love your energy. So much singing tho, queen. I see that is your thing tho.
Thank you! And yes, it is depending on the movie. If the movie had a great soundtrack, I’m definitely gonna rap or sing.
I used to skateboard and be into anime during high school so black folks hit me with the drive by of being into white stuff. Now everybody into the stuff I was into high school.
Shows u are a leader & a lot of others are followers. U did “YOU” while a lot of others did what was considered *hot* for the moment. Dnt change✊🏾
Heyyy I’ve been watching a lot of your videos lately. And I LOVE how yu explain movies. I know this movie request is not a typical movie yu watch. But if yu have the chance can yu do the lovely bones. I wanna hear your opinion on it.
I love that movie and the book ❤
This is one of the only times in cinema that I know of where I actually felt represented. I'm a lot like Malcom in the sense that I am black in skin only. Culturally I'm pretty far removed from it. Not to say I resent that half, I was just raised differently to the point that I didn't fit in with the other black kids. On paper you wouldn't expect someone who looks like me to like the things I like or even speak the way I do.
I'm not trying to sound special, it just baffles me that a movie went out of its way to show that we might all look the same, but we are all different. Other movies, especially in the last three years paint black people as all acting the same.
I wouldn’t say Malcolm was “black in skin only”. He was diverse in his interests but his black cultural influences were very clear. His hair and fashion came from 90’s hiphop. But I understand what you mean if this character is closest to your identity. Black characters always have their blackness tied to their character development in one way or another.

Never saw this movie, but I’ve seen the trailers. Didn’t think it was interesting, but I did think Shameik Moore(if that’s how you spell his name😂🫣) was handsome as hell, like if Morris Chestnut had a secret love child and deserted him and his mom the side piece.🤣🥴😜
That’s an in depth description! 🤣😭
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Stacy’s appearance 🤯
She did mention Stacy fam.
She mentioned it early in the video
'Loved this movie, it was definitely on the right track regarding bitcoin (at least for a bit...no pun intended).
No, but I really hate how RUclips put your video out before it premiered 🫠. Anywho, it’s been a minute since I last watched this movie.
Man all types of stuff has been happening that has never happened before but we’re gonna keep going!
I knew I wasn’t bugging smh I was like ok let me watch
