Time saving comment: GO: Yes if you’re mostly interested in watching video content (netflix, porn etc) Quest: Only if you’re mainly interested in gaming. Quest has 6 degrees of freedom. Go only 3.
@@HermaniVar1 not that impressive. You have to pay for the good VR porn. Everything else is really blurry and most videos are actually 2D just wrapped around you, women getting close can feel very very weird honestly.

As a quest owner, I can say that even though it has twice the price, it is five times better. It includes a four-camera system, one on each corner on the front, and it allows you to set a barrier based on the real world. To put it simply, you can make a super accurate barrier, and it only appears if you get to close to it. There's no issue with bumping into things, and with the screen moving with 6 degrees of freedom, you truly feel like you're in the quest itself! So if you are on a tight budget, or want only the experience of VR/the ability to watch VR videos, GO for it (I'm sorry, I had to). But if you truly want to get something out of VR and have the budget (Go is $300, Quest is $600), the quest provides much more than the go, and in my opinion, it's worth it.
Yes !!! You can spend a whole battery just looking at 360 pics or haunted houses Documentary etc etc It's so social vs a Rift or PSVR I put San Jose Sharks stickers on mine .
Just to clarify (for people who don't know): 3 degrees of freedom only tracks orientation (rotation) of the devices on 3 axis (X,Y,Z). So, you can look around with the headset and use the controller as a pointer. It doesn't update movement of the devices in space (like walking or ducking), it only updates device rotation/orientation. 6 degrees of freedom has the first 3 degrees which are for orientation tracking and then an additional 3 degrees for positional tracking. With the use of special sensors or computer eye technology, it can detect your movement along with orientation. So you can punch with the controllers, grab stuff, evade with the headset and stuff like that.
I'm saving for an Oculus Quest but my friend William has promised himself he wouldn't buy anything that costs more than the switch so I can recommend this to him.
I have the Oculus Go and it is definitely great for certain applications. RUclips VR, Oculus Video, 3D pictures, Live Events, NextVR and a few games like Bait, Voxel Fly, Pet Lab and Defense Grid. However, over time I can see the limitations of the Go showing through. The processor just can't handle a lot of newer content and the whole unit becomes hot and the battery drains pretty quickly. I am definitely happy with my purchase, but I think there is realistically only a couple of years more of life in this product.

I've had one for a year now and LOVE it. I actually sold my Vive in that time (not because the Go 'replaced' it...) and haven't missed it much having the Go. My real question is, as someone definitely purchasing a Quest whenever they come out, when is the best time to sell my Go and have it still hold most of its value before the Quest comes out??
@Mai Va Lee Maybe he doesn't like wired VR and doesn't like the limitations of the go..? Ever think that your opinion isn't universal? It may be a waste of money for you, but not for him.
@Mai Va Lee That's not the point. YOU didn't understand ME. Ironic isn't it. The point was that it's not a waste of money for him to change to something he enjoys, if he's willing to pay the money and it makes him happy, it's not a waste of money. By your logic, buying food is a waste of money solely because you lose money from doing so. Makes no sense. Next time use your brain when reading please.
Stu no it’s not, it is a waste of time, little to nothing to do, dies when your not using it, and when you are it lasts like no time, the little live events barely work, it’s just, I’m just not happy with it, I’d sell it but it’s a bday gift so that’d be rude, most thoughtful gift I’ve gotten and I love my parents for it but I’ve stopped using it cause even though it’s making a ton of money devs don’t want to do work on it, I didn’t JUST go into it for games, but I was hoping for some cheap games but they all cost money and they don’t have the ability to like buy a card or anything with money for anyone under 18, instead I had to connect to my parents things and I can’t just add money to it.
You can get an external battery that will give it tons of life. I saw those turotial videos on youtube. I just put mine in my computer via usb while using it and get 1.5x the life as it keeps charging while using it (sometimes I go wireless also if I am not near my computer). I use it for movies/youtube only. Theater / RUclips VR app for trailers etc. The youtube vr app is amazing. I am very happy with mine I tried some games but I like my PC games way better as I have a nice setup with ultrawide screen, controller, keyboard/mouse so I don't need it for games. BUT could I ever get a 100" TV screen for $300? No way :D - I was, before finding out about oculus go, was going to purchase a sony bravia 55" for 1000$+, but now I have a 100"+ screen for $300 lol. It is AMAZING :D
Still worth it for me. I admit I use it mainly for porn and movies, though. I use PSVR for games. At least until Quest arrives. Personally I don't mind switching batteries. I have three PS Move rechargeable controllers and currently only one holds a charge. I wish there was an easy way to switch them.
I just want to watch movies on this. That's all. Nothing else. Is it worth buying. How is the movie watching experience? Does it stress your eyes? Does it give a headache or any other problems? Can someone share?
Great video, thanks. It answered my questions about what I wanted out of a headset/VR experience, and helped me reach a decision.......I got one :) Cheers
Hello -- I usually lay on my bed with my iPad sitting on my chest to watch various Internet video content, including RUclips and other Internet video. What I would like to do is use the Oculus go for this purpose, but I'm wondering if I can turn off the tracking or set it so that when I'm laying down with it on my head, it doesn't point my view up to the sky? Also, can I watch any Internet video content, or does it have to be included already in the Oculus go menu library system? If you could please answer these two questions I would be very grateful. Thank you very much for your kindest consideration of my inquiry. I look forward to hearing back from you, and I will await your reply. Best regards, ~Antonio
There are DIY methods to add six degree tracking for the Go. It requires a lot of older hardware and a little bit of technical know how to work. There's a few users who has made videos about how to do it on RUclips. So far, I've gotten my Go to connect to Steam, but am currently working to get the tracking to work.
Hey. Thanks for informative video. I would like a suggestion, what should an architect go for immersive experience, Oculus go or quest? Does that degree of movement effects in viewing this? looking for reply. Thanks
I did not know Chris Crocker has a brother! The similarity is eerie. I still don't know which VR headset to get, but thanks for your opinion. Interesting review.
Not sure if you know this, but, Oculus Go S does Reggie a tether to a PC. But only the one with a USB C and now a Display port connection. It's not wireless.
I had Samsung Gear VR and the experience was mixed. Initially I was so impressed but then I started to realise the VR experience could be so much better. Thinking to buy Go now as an upgrade. Your video was very helpful - very clear and well summarised without unnecessaey tech stuff. I love watching the kind of videos you watch too. Look forward to your documentary suggestions.
TL;DR: Yes, 100%. If you're not really into the full 6DOF gaming and have Riftcat for playing PC VR games using it, go for it. It's great for media watching, it's cheap and really immersive. Comfy. Go for it.
Not a bad video. But 1 piece of advice: if you’re going to act like an expert, don’t say ‘they sold a lot’ oc Go’s; do the research- FYI it’s over 1 million since the May 2018 launch. I really think the headset makers are ignoring the obvious strategy to get a huge number in the public - sports. For popular sports that sell out all the time (Premiere League, major tennis tournaments, NBA, La Liga, etc) fans would pay to get the ‘best seat experience’ at home - and would gladly pay. Once this boosted huge sales of headsets then other types of content would pour in.
What would be the best VR headset to view virtual biking videos on? My whole town's turned to shit so I've resorted to stationary biking but its really depressing not having all the scenery. So whats a good headset that would let me feel like I was biking outside? No joke comments please, this has been really distressing. Thank u 😊
At 63, this is not marketed to my age group---so info here is greatly appreciated! The confounding thing about this is that it does not include an audio side! Not sure how they can call it "all in one" without sound!
I love my Go, though I have never played any games with it. As regarding the movement. Not really sure how safe it would be to be moving around with a VR headset covering your eyes. Having said that, Altspace has a facility to move within the screen, using the tracking pad on the controller. Seems to me, with a bit of imagination, a competent game designer could make a pretty good game using that.

hey, could you tell me if you keep your head straight but you move down, will your image also move down ? (more like a translational movement, not sure if I'm expressing myself the right way)
I don’t own any powerful VR headsets (just stuff you put your phone in), but from what I have seen the Oculus Go seems to be a great starter VR headset. For people who are interested in VR but don’t have a super PC or PlayStation or loads of money then the Oculus Go will work until you decide to upgrade to the Oculus Quest or HTC Vive or something like that.
Which is better between the Quest and go if you do intend on playing just some games but don't like the idea of having to get up move around and prefer to sit while you play games?
@@hadoom848 That's the thing. I don't want to have to move around the room to play and prefer to sit and play. Is it optional to be able to either sit or move around?
Looking forward to your follow-ups, especially on the Quest and the comparison. I am looking for a standalone VR headset for viewing video, but want to be able to view stereoscopic 360 degree videos and pictures. Can you do that on the Go, or do you need the Quest or Lenovo headset? Also, if you are showing how to use it, please consider taking a few seconds to say how difficult it is to load your own pictures and videos onto the headset for offline viewing (I recently got a Detu Max and want to find a way to easily share my videos and pictures).
It's super easy to load your own pics and videos. Just connect the Go to PC and give it permission. Then drag and drop into the video or images folder that will appear
I've had my Go for 2 months. It's a million times better than sticking a cell phone in front. I haven't found that one super experience yet that keeps me coming back. But 4k 360 vids of skiing and snowmobiling are stunning. Fishing games are great too.
I have currently an HTC Vive Pro which is pretty great but I wanted to check out Oculus and see what they have to offer. I am not necessarily a gamer. I enjoy viewing 360 views of anywhere imaginable. From what I am seeing here the Oculus Go might fit the bill! I love being to see the VR worlds, in space or anywhere around the world. My biggest problem is I would like to go wire free! UPDATED! Instead I have decided to go with the 128GB Oculus Quest with 6 Degrees of freedom, longer battery life and faster charging.
One thing he didn't mention is you can add a nolo home adapter and give it 6 degrees of freedom then play pc games or you can just add the nolo home app and play pc games with an xbox controller

The Oculus Go wasn't entirely made for games, it was made for watching 360° Videos or chilling in your bed watching netflix in an immersive living room. If you bought the Oculus Go expecting a spectacular gaming library then you might as well sell it for saving money for the quest.
I just got a new Gear VR for 20 bucks, and this Oculus Go seems to be roughly the same. So yeah.. being over $100 more expensive than the Gear VR, I would only recommend it if you don't want to use your phone.
Great Video ☺️👍, I have an oculus go 32gb, I wish I had bought the 64gb version instead but to help me with storage issues I have a Western Digital MyCloud with 2TB which the oculus ‘sees’ in my network so I just put VR videos on MyCloud which saves storage on the Oculus.
I've got a PSVR and love it for immersive games, but have been disappointed by the lack of media apps, so I'm definitely getting one as a secondary vr headset.
It's still a good headset in 2021 I got the quest 2 last week and only for the fact that you have better games choice and the go is going to be discontinued in 2023 as far as videos the difference isn't worth noting.

If I can play superhot while walking throughout a large arena scale room wirelessly, I'll take it
But of course I hope there's a lot more content
I have a go and I love it but I’m also going to get the quest. So I think I will be happy with both products
Yeah I an getting an oculus go when it’s late 2020 becuase I’m poor
@@SwizzTheKing You should've just waited cuz now the oculus quest 2 came out and its pretty cheap now
@@justinportillo3996 Yeah I did.
Can't wait for my Oculus Go tomorrow :)
Your Oculus Go is coming. 😂
Fuuuucckkk bro you should of waited like a couple of weeks later because the oculus quest is coming out and it’s like 20 times better
@@kizmet6472 Yeah but it's $400 right? I'm getting GO strictly for 3D movies, Netflix, ect.
I got the occulus GO this year and I'm excited to open it. :))
But yes my quest is to get the occulus Quest because I'm a gamer. Lol
Yeah, you shouldnt have bought the go. You should have saved.
How long will the battery last if just watch youtube or movies?? I saw that some ppl say that the battery drains pretty quickly
Is there a way to charge it if you don’t have access to an outlet?
Good question, I have no clue
you can use a power bank
yea use a power bank portable phone charger.
i have 15000 mah charger it can fully charge it
Still worth it for me. I admit I use it mainly for porn and movies, though. I use PSVR for games. At least until Quest arrives. Personally I don't mind switching batteries. I have three PS Move rechargeable controllers and currently only one holds a charge. I wish there was an easy way to switch them.
@@danielishere734 😅 nah. I'm a pro!
Best regards,
~Antonio
Great question i was thinking the same thing.
There are DIY methods to add six degree tracking for the Go. It requires a lot of older hardware and a little bit of technical know how to work. There's a few users who has made videos about how to do it on RUclips. So far, I've gotten my Go to connect to Steam, but am currently working to get the tracking to work.
Did you change the title of your video this year or was it a typo in January of 2019, a year before 2020?
Hi I just got mine in 2020! It did not arrive yet but I was wondering is it truly a magical feeling to be in vr?
Hey 360 Guy. Thank you very much for putting this together, very informative and love your take on this topic!
Can you buy separate controls for it and play games with them?
Not sure if you know this, but, Oculus Go S does Reggie a tether to a PC. But only the one with a USB C and now a Display port connection. It's not wireless.
I had Samsung Gear VR and the experience was mixed. Initially I was so impressed but then I started to realise the VR experience could be so much better. Thinking to buy Go now as an upgrade. Your video was very helpful - very clear and well summarised without unnecessaey tech stuff. I love watching the kind of videos you watch too. Look forward to your documentary suggestions.
Sounds great man! How easy is it to upload your own 360 videos that you've filmed yourself onto it?
I saw someone selling one of these for $100 should I pick it up? Or is it not worth it?
What would be the best VR headset to view virtual biking videos on? My whole town's turned to shit so I've resorted to stationary biking but its really depressing not having all the scenery. So whats a good headset that would let me feel like I was biking outside? No joke comments please, this has been really distressing. Thank u 😊
Would you still recommend oculus go ?
At 63, this is not marketed to my age group---so info here is greatly appreciated! The confounding thing about this is that it does not include an audio side! Not sure how they can call it "all in one" without sound!
It does have sound. Internal speakers and a earphone port
I love my Go, though I have never played any games with it.
As regarding the movement. Not really sure how safe it would be to be moving around with a VR headset covering your eyes.
Having said that, Altspace has a facility to move within the screen, using the tracking pad on the controller. Seems to me, with a bit of imagination, a competent game designer could make a pretty good game using that.
you didnt try to stream your games from your pc so you can play all your games on your pc. www.reddit.com/r/OculusGo/comments/9utwja/is_there_a_way_to_use_oculus_go_as_a_monitor_for/
Guardian exist to protect you. The oculus quest has four cameras which detect your surroundings and will warn you when approaching an object.
The rift and vive have you drawing an outline of your play area, basically setting up your virtual room
*Great video typo in your description. Not 60 GHz oculus go but 60 GB oculus go LOL The fact that my iPhone does not capitalize the letters on oculus go when I voice text tells it all!*
How yt looks like? Its fullscreen or screen like menu inside?
Great review! Been checkin out reviews deciding if yes or no to pull the trigger. You did a super job pointing out what Go is good for and who the Go would suit best so I've ordered the 64 Gig Go. Thanks, keep the the informative reviews coming...
hey, could you tell me if you keep your head straight but you move down, will your image also move down ? (more like a translational movement, not sure if I'm expressing myself the right way)
My dad's coworker had this system and it was one of the best system I have used besides the HTC vive
Quest. Definately.
Sweet! Thanks for the information.
Nolo is trash

*March 2019, and no new games are being made. Good thing is most of the games on there are half off, because everybody is going to the oculus quest and Game developers do not want to lose customers. I like it, good price does what I wanted to do, but would really like 6DO*
The Oculus Go wasn't entirely made for games, it was made for watching 360° Videos or chilling in your bed watching netflix in an immersive living room. If you bought the Oculus Go expecting a spectacular gaming library then you might as well sell it for saving money for the quest.
Oh and if you're bothered, you can mod your Oculus Go to be able to have 6 degrees of freedoms, just search up a RUclips tutorial.
Sold. Just ordered one. Good vid👍🏻
Ryan Kerr please tell me how it is! I’m looking at getting one but I’m not sure yet
I just got a new Gear VR for 20 bucks, and this Oculus Go seems to be roughly the same. So yeah.. being over $100 more expensive than the Gear VR, I would only recommend it if you don't want to use your phone.
This thing is about to run out and will be never sold again so If you want it I'd suggest getting it now or you're screwed
Saw an ad for this video, good job enjoyed the content.
Great Video ☺️👍,
I have an oculus go 32gb, I wish I had bought the 64gb version instead but to help me with storage issues I have a Western Digital MyCloud with 2TB which the oculus ‘sees’ in my network so I just put VR videos on MyCloud which saves storage on the Oculus.
I have the quest, is it worth buying the go also?
no, its worse than the quest lol
the quest is for watching videos and movies tbh.. not for gaming, I mean yeah, still games on it, but mostly intended for video/movie
Awesome video, really helped me make up my mind. Is there a newer version of the GO coming out soon?
notice how did video is actually from january 2019 so it was originally "is it worth it in 2019" he just changed the title
My Wife has just ordered one. Do you think the Quest will have a longer battery life ? I think the Go only lasts for about two hours.
@Stanley Kenyi Thank you.
I LOVE my O.GO!
I'm just gonna get it on a Christmas sale because I want to have my own personal theater
Can you use it on your phones LTE on WiFi hotspot?
Yea I bought one last week...just turn on your phones hotspot and look it up on your VR headset
Is the resolution better than the Samsung vr
Will it do for flight simulators?
I wanne use it to view the video's of my Insta 360 one X.
Hope this will be great!
I've got a PSVR and love it for immersive games, but have been disappointed by the lack of media apps, so I'm definitely getting one as a secondary vr headset.
Biggest problem i have with the quest. Its just too heavy.
Thanks mate. V helpful 👍
