- You guys enjoyed the last one quite a bit so I figured I would make a second one. This particular ad caught my eye repeated times and when I finally took a look at it, it definitely pissed me off.
The reason I made this video is because I am pretty passionate about the pricing of tech and computer parts (weirdly specific I know). When I see something priced well I always want to jump on it and when I see it priced poorly or in a way that very obviously is trying to scam money out of someone who doesn't know better, I feel this over bearing urge to correct the person in a not very polite manner.
I equate this type of behavior to be worse than what I see with companies like iBUYPOWER or CypberPowerPC because these type of ripoffs are way worse than what those big brand names try to pull. And at least you'd get a warranty when you buy through them. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this video and maybe learn something from it, if you don't let me know and I will be happy to make adjustments to future releases. I have more budget build videos coming soon so stay tuned for those because I know you guys like those the most.

So for quite a few of you, you will see that this is a re-upload.
Due to some legal issues I had to censor out any way of identifying the company. Here is the main reason why:
I had quite a few gung-ho viewers decide to find and personally attack the company in question. They even thought it was a good idea to email me and brag about it as if I would be proud of them for doing so. I don't stand for that and it's completely unacceptable. While I definitely do not agree with the pricing of the computer, that does not mean that I then find it okay in any way, shape, or form to abuse another person because of how they choose to do business.
I like the "SCAM" series and I would like to keep it going, but since there are some viewers out there that want to take it too far, I will have to find ways to protect the ads or offers that get exposed and reviewed in the future.

Make sure you fully disclose to your callers that you're recording them. Wiretapping laws prevent this kind of thing if the person on the other line isn't aware you're recording.
Yeah I learned that lesson the hard way a month back. Had to scrap that vid completely. I'd make more of these, but for some reason, people on Craigslist who sell computers for really high prices don't like agreeing to strangers recording the phone call. Thanks for the heads up
Target states that do not use that law and your good to go, just make a google voice number in that state and record seller from that state.
You don't have to disclose recordings if your voice is on it
That's not necessarily true, It depends on the state, some states only require the caller to have knowledge they are recording the other.
Unless it's a single party consent state, then you wouldn't have to.
When someone says "and stuff", you know they're trying to play you.

No dedicated GPU for a gaming computer for $900? If you built this system yourself you could add a 1070 and still only pay $900 (a 1070 is $400 at the time I checked). I was trying to give them the benefit of the the doubt thinking that they're just trying to make some money off the build until they started going on about getting the RAM timing right and and all that other nonsense that's clearly just meant to confuse inexperienced people. To be perfectly honest, part of getting into PC gaming is making your own system and I'd really encourage people to do it themselves. It seems scary at first but it's actually super easy and there are tons of guides on youtube.
You can probably find used 1070 for under $300 if you try hard enough. I got a evga sc 1070 for $230 from Offerup
@@danielaguirre5949 I'm not a huge fan of going used so the extra price of a new card is worth it to me.
@@danielaguirre5949 In my country I could get used 1060 6gb for 245€ cheapest and it was before miners inflated prices.
I've found theres only 4 major things you gotta focus on.
What core you're getting, IE i5 or i7 or i9 for recording and all that stuff.
Gpu of course, then ram and internal storage. Everything else is kind of just, meh. Except maybe, GDDR. I think mine is, 3 while dedicated gaming GDDR is 4?
Jesse Roberts GDDR3 ram is just and older and slower technology, it isn't about it being dedicated for gaming or not. Yours is GDDR3 because that is what your CPU and motherboard support. I had GDDR3 on my old build but had to get GDDR4 because that's what my new cpu (an 8700k) supports. I don't think there is much reason for an average consumer to get an i9.
I don't think there is anything that isn't important to consider when building a system. Two major things you excluded are the motherboard and power supply, they are most certainly not just meh. You don't have to get the most expensive motherboard, but don't cheap out either, especially if you're getting an i7. The motherboard has all the hardware for delivering and controlling the voltage going to the CPU, there are things called VRM's (voltage regulation modules) on the motherboard that regulate the voltage going to the CPU and cheap motherboards have cheap VRM's (and less of them), which means that overclocking will be more challenging, if not impossible. You also absolutely don't want to cheap out on the power supply, because the power supply obviously supplies the voltage to the CPU as well as the rest of the system, and cheap power supplies are built with cheap hardware that doesn't deliver the cleanest voltage. Power supplies also have to cope with delivering a relatively large amount of power constantly and reliably when under load, potentially for extended periods of time. Cheap power supplies can be inefficient, and potentially fail when stressed, with drastic consequences. Again, you don't have to get the most expensive power supply but by no means get the cheapest, and you have to get a power supply wattage that is appropriate for the system you're building.
Really the first decision you make is what CPU you're going to get, and then you build a system that can properly support and utilize it.
I wasn't sure if the guy was also trying to hold in laughter to the best of his ability
For a 900 dollar prebuilt pc, the best you can do is the starter pc by NZXT
Also that f***in' scammer had a smile during the whole call

Hey man, big fan. I wondered if you have ever done a video on your process to flipping pcs? Like a kind of tutorial on how and where you get your parts, if you manage to get them on really good deals or something like that, and what kind of process you go about to sell them. I ended up getting a computer with (Ryzen 3 1300x / 1050 Ti 4gb / Ballistix Sport 2666mhz 2x4gb DDR4 / ASUS A320 EX-Gaming) from Komplett for around 950€.
It's not comparable to this video as it wasn't a scam but I could have still saved around 150€ by going for another pre-build or hell, even more by building it myself.
If I had known better, I would have never gone for that computer for various reasons such as price and upgrade ability.
I now have a new self built computer with high level specs and my old one has a new home at my friends place.
I'm really glad that people are bringing up obvious scams and high prices online. I have started to help fellow newcomers after my own missteps. If anything, I guess we all can improve this situation.
Thanks for the video, it was a good watch.

i think 600$ would be good price if he was selling it with getting that 12$ windows key he would charge you 100$ which is fair if u just starting and u dont know much about it,but 400$ u could get 1070
Mihajlo C or certain 1080’s if you look around
you can get a 1070 used for under 300
Basically charging what nzxt does for building it
The pricing you guys are quoting is obviously 2nd hand and used. Even a brand new open box 1070 ti 8GB is still 424
Been obsessed with these type of videos lately
I am in the process of building my own pc in like 20 years. Since I have been researching and looking at parts of a computer for awhile-I can roughly price out parts and this company totally was a scam-but with people like you to help educate people on computers-might help them not be scammed
"Better than anything you'd get from Dell for $900".
Challenge accepted. Alienware Aurora: $899, i5 8400 with a 1050ti, 8gb ram and a 1tb hdd. If anything they sank more money into storage than Dell. Ryzen APU's are great for what they are, have a few myself. However, geez, at least be smart enough not to outright lie. Ya, there is a nice upgrade path with an APU and AM4's lifespan, but out the gate, an 8400+1050ti is a much better performer.
To be fair, I imagine including a legitimate legal copy of Windows without having Microsoft come after you adds to the cost. So even if they spent $100-$120 on a retail or OEM key from Newegg/Amazon, that is still $600 in parts. So they shouldn't charge more than $700 or so.
It's not even close to 900$ PC performance. You could just buy a cheap i5 from older generations (used or new) and an older card from the R9 200, GTX 700, 900 etc. to build a PC with much more power for 500$ or less. The Ryzen APU's are good but they're meant for price/performance in cheap 300 to 450 bucks builds. That build won't even play new triple A titles at 1080p60 which is ridiculous for a 900$ gaming PC. There are also cheap OEM Windows keys from old PC's on the internet for literally just a few bucks which are legal (at least where I live and probably in most other countries). If a PC comes with Windows the license was probably just as cheap for the manufacturer (or even cheaper). So I totally agree that the (MSRP) OS cost shouldn't be added at all. Great video btw :)

Kris is so angry after that phone call you can see it in his right eye.
15 years? The guy he called is 15 years old. I would go easy on him. It's not easy making a living in the system builder business these days. The only people that should feel shame are the people that choose to buy this stuff without doing 10 seconds of google searching prior.
That doesn't justify that fact that he is scamming his customers and that he is taking advantage of people who don't know better. I'm 16 and what I did for money was learn how to invest in stocks and find ways to trade for a profit in multiple games...
Cool dude, you found some other way to make money, you will learn with age that there are millions of ways to earn a living. Here is the thing, this guy is selling a product, if that product is priced too high people won't buy it therefore he wont sell it. So even if he is a total idiot and decided to sell his computer for $100,000.00, nobody would buy it and he would have just wasted his time. If somebody does buy it at that price then they probably have more money than common sense. If the guy that built it sold it for that price he would be super lucky, but it probably wouldn't happen. This is just economics, if something is priced to high people won't buy it, if it is priced to low the person selling it won't make enough money to continue doing business. It doesn't mean they are a scammer, it just means they are overpriced for the market.
@Someone the person sounded like a woman kind of anyways plus my guess is they are about 22
He said he was building pcs for 15 years, not that he was 15 years old, big difference

@@f32perc Not really, the cyberpower with AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4GHz, AMD RX 580 4GB, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 3TB 7200RPM HDD costs $939.99 before tax applied on amazon and I've built myself a pc few days ago with similar but better spec with only difference being that I have RX 580 8gb instead of 4gb and got both hdd and ssd and it only cost me $650 after tax applied to build it with parts all brand new lol.
