Great match. I'm 55 years old and I have never missed high school so much. I was a 3 sport letterman but Wrestling was always my first love
The freshman stays so calm. For a young guy to be down 6 to 2 and keep his cool is impressive. I would have spazzed out when I was 14.

I wrestled at 133 for Aloha high in '68-'69. One of the behaviors that would get you tossed toot-sweet was braggadocio. Our coach said that we could congratulate each other in the locker room after the meet.

Lot of tough decisions for the ref but I think he was pretty fair. Stalling on Miller was rough but so was fleeing the mat. decent enough reffing.

I was on the Cleveland Heights wrestling team, and we won State in 76. The reason we did was because DeAnna had a busted wrist that prevented him from gripping and, therefore, couldn't pin our guy. Had DeAnna pinned our guy, we would not have won State.
Wrestlers give the weakest “good match” handshake of all athletes. Just looking they want to cry afterwards. All that nutrient depletion making these boys emotional wrecks. 😂
It is the toughest extension of time you'll ever experience. No drug compares to the endorphin high you get after a full match going into overtime. It usually takes a solid 5 minutes for the endogenous release of endorphins but you feel like passing out directly after. A period feels like a thousand days...
If they get so low, wouldnt it make sense to try a downward blow on the back of the neck? Is that illegal to shove your opponents face into the mat?
I figured for a 145 pounds they'd be moving a whole lot quicker.

Excellent use of fleeing the mat call. The freshman gave up a point on 3 cautions so in my mind it’s a wash on that point. And the older kid could have gotten hit with fleeing the mat before as well, or it could have been two stall calls. Great officiating
