I miss my home town. I was born in Duluth, lived there for the first 36 years of my life. I sure miss it quite a lot, I miss my lake, I miss the cold, I miss the people even and I’m not a people person but maybe that’s why I like Duluth people they leave you alone for the most part lol. I miss the lack of traffic (compared to where I moved), the food is better, Duluth has decent restaurants. I don’t miss the drug use, I don’t miss the 6’s and 7’s pretending they are 10’s, I don’t miss the mosquitos lol.
Daylight savings time does not dictate the finite amount of daylight there is during certain times of year. The earths orbit pattern does. Setting a clock back an hour or forward an hour doesn't add or subtract any daylight. It just changes the time you see it on a clock. If you want more daylight vhsmge your job work hours. Or change the time you wake up. It is that simple.
As with almost any city, the goodness of that city depends on if one has money and is able to live in a nice area or not. Duluth has some absolutely fantastic and safe areas when compared to cities of similar size. Again, if one has $, u can get a home with an unbelievable view of the lake, where in another larger waterside city (NYC/CHI/LA/SF) you’d have to have considerably more financial resources and would get an apartment/condo vs a house with some space. But yes, just like any city Duluth isn’t perfect, but it also isn’t the scourge that some make it out to be either. Cities of similar size (Gary, Toledo, Erie, Savannah) all have the same if not worse drug/crime/homelessness issues. There is no perfect city anywhere. Little known fact, for many years the city in MN with the 3rd highest welfare recipient population was Edina. Yea, the suburb known for cake eaters has a good sized section of poor people living in apts, but no one ever brings that up and the crime issues in that segment of Edina because the plpl with money there didn’t want that narrative out there. Looking at the realtor sites, Duluth has a ton of homes for over the starter home price of 250k and those listings move to contingent pretty quick, so there is money here. With corporate America now allowing plpl to work anywhere, and with what happened in my home city of Mpls, plpl are moving to smaller cities like Duluth, Fargo, Des Moines, etc; for the slower pace and how far their dollar stretches vs a larger metro-area. I’ve been to 42 states and could/can live anywhere with my job and 4 years ago I choose Duluth vs staying in S. Mpls where I had been my whole life. Yea, we get a little more snow in Duluth. Yes we get some homeless plpl here. But there is not one street I wouldn’t feel not safe walking down when compared to lake st, Franklin Ave, Cedar/Riverside, Broadway/Lowry,/N Lyndale, Hennepin, Hiawatha, etc; and all those I wouldn’t feel safe during the day. Lol! Duluth, no shes not perfect, but compared to the alternatives it’s a pretty decent place. Thanks for these Duluth vids!

I was stationed at Duluth Int'l Airport US Air Force Base for 6 months. I was a newlywed. We were married 3 weeks before in The Bahamas and my young bride had never seen weather hardly below 60s. I can say we absolutely enjoyed the ice and snow that came with a blizzard where the chill factor reached minus 67. Naturally as newlyweds it was great because we had to snuggle up. ♥️ We enjoyed our walks from East 13th st down to Superior St. with no worries or hassle. What an experience to see the blue ice with the ships frozen in at the seaport at the bridge going over to Superior Wisconsin. I left there after 6 months because my enlistment ended in the military. Went back for our 40th wedding anniversary. Discovered The Lake Walk and all the great new features downtown. All in all Duluth will always be in our hearts 💕 💞 ♥️. Sailed on a dinner cruise during our anniversary week and had the best time.Looking forward to another visit. Hopefully soon.

I bet you hate getting up early, you don’t eat anything unless it tastes good, you don’t like being cold, I bet you don’t do any sort of exercise, SEEK DISCOMFORT! Don’t be a pussy.
I was born here. I’ve lived in Minnesota most of my life except for a stint in a NW Detroit suburb. Duluth is very expensive if you’re not educated or a skilled craftsman. I’ve lived where I can see the lake much of my life. Hate it when I can’t see the water. Oddly enough, when I lived on Park Point on the lake side, I couldn’t see the lake from my house. I could see the bay if I looked out my front windows across the street. I had a hill behind my house. If I walked up the hill, the lake was right on the other side and I was there every day. I have to disagree about humidity. Usually it’s not humid. Last couple of years there have been more humid days, but nothing like Indiana or southern US and certainly not even close to Florida. There is nothing more beautiful than a summer day in Duluth. Sad truth is, if you live near the lake or downtown area, summer comes late and leaves early. I hate this about Duluth as well as being cold all the time. I hate shoveling snow. Just have had it. I dislike tourist season immensely, but doesn’t everyone? Can’t enjoy my own city.
I was born and raised about 20 minutes north of Duluth on a lake community. I'm a snowbird in training (living in California from Oct to May). Duluth is beyond awesome in the late spring to late fall but is unlivable during winter months. 20 below zero is torture and driving the Duluth hill on ice or snow is ssmi-suicide. The city government is like nazi germany and good luck trying to deal with them

How is the zoning there? Good urban planning? Multi housing in city? Or more single homes? Urban sprawl? Tiny homes? Alternative home building if you want to buy land surrounding the city? I am going through your videos now.
Very few apartments but that is slowly changing, they are concentrating on expanding the old thin roads and highways in anticipation of a much larger population coming. It’s an old city with lots of old houses lots of single family homes. Not much to do but that is changing and Duluth has always had a solid night life but it’s in a few established areas and you need to know what area is for you and your personality. If you don’t know how to drive really really well go to a school like dirtfish or some other rally school, sounds ridiculous but if you don’t know how to control a vehicle that has exceeded its ability….. you need to step in and control a vehicle that’s sliding or going sideways like a rally car. Find an empty snowy parking lot and figure out how to control chaos. We all have to know this in northern minnesnowta.
I live in Hawaii, born and raised Pros: it's beautiful and warm Cons: you need 2 or 3 jobs to afford a simple 1 bedroom apartment so you almost never get to the beach. You spend your days off sleeping. Food and gas is very expensive. The median cost of a house is 1 million dollars. The streets suck because we have too many pot holes and the traffic is horrendous. Your car needs constant maintenance due to the salt air. It took 30 years to build one of our highways( H-3) due to corruption and mismanagement of funds. There's a lot of racial tension. Most local people have to move away because they have no financial future here. The government cares more about tourism than its residents. Think about this when you dream of a warmer climate.
Nah. I looked at houses for sale once for shyts in hawaii. It aint that expensive to live. Also you get a gov 20 or 25% cost of living allowance to live there. And no one sleeps all day on off days. Unless you are lazy.

I just visited downtown Duluth on 8/28/21. I was suprised at how run down the city area was and amount of unkempt properties. Burned out buildings and pandhandlers on several streets. Unmanned public parking ramp had incoming arms that did not work. The weather was rainy and foggy but parking was still bad. I would not go out in this town after dark and was even worried about leaving my dog in the car. Reminded me of North Minneapolis.
Good job my friend. Keep not mentioning the real problems but focus on what people from TC are worried about. Don't mention the impossibility of getting up Miller Hill when there's bad weather. Don't mention that, even in the summer, you'll lose your brakes unless you use the Central Entrance which is sketchy at best. Don't mention how you need to learn how to lightly tap a car while you're sliding backwards down the hill. Don't mention that the lake ice can build up 50' tall with a good east wind. Don't mention that, if you live on Park Point, that 500 yards to your work could take you half an hour because you didn't look at the shipping schedule. Don't remind people that hotels on Canal Park run about $300 a night even out of season. Let's keep that hush-hush. Duluth is terrible. Don't move there. Plus everyone is mean. Also, possibly evil to their core. Joking. I'm originally from north of The Range. Duluth is my favorite weekend getaway. My wife and I try to make a trip once a year up there from TC and just get breakfast, roll on up to Grande Marais, sit on the breakwater, maybe hang out at Tettegouche or Gooseberry Falls. I like the Temperance River Gorge, my wife doesn't but we go anyway. She worries that I'll fall in just like my friends husband did (God rest his soul) but I know how to hang onto rocks. I like to dangle my legs over 500' cliffs just to feel alive for a few minutes. She doesn't. Still, I've never not enjoyed a good Duluth run. Then it's just hanging out at Park Point and acting like a tourist for a bit and it's enjoyable. She won't let me hang onto the underside of the lift bridge when it goes up doing the "chicken" thing like I did as a kid. Go to Duluth it's awesome. Just don't move there please. I like it as it is.
I think you should work on how many times you said the "you know". couldn't count how many times you said that. It just got to be too much. 😬😳 But other than that it wasn't bad and somewhat informative.

@@aspiceronni4462 I hear "you know" as much as "like" in California. It's not a location thing so much as just not breaking habits that make you a poor publiuc speaker. Work on eliminating "like" or "you know" with a short pause if you can't just refrain from doing it. Silence is better than inappropriately placed words. In elementary school my great uncle taught me to simply think about what you are going to say before you start speaking. With enough practice it becomes second nature and that short pause can diminish into no pause while your subconscious does it for you.

I live there on the side of hill that faces the lake. Every time I go out in the winter . The wind blows right in
I think you should work on how many times you said the "you know". couldn't count how many times you said that. It just got to be too much. 😬😳 But other than that it wasn't bad and somewhat informative.
Lived here my entire life and still do, I love it, other than the winters! Lol
Same! Gotta love duluth😂
Here’s a reason not to move to Duluth ..... Emily Larsen
Agree horrible mayor!
@@kja9881 This is coming from another Northeastern Minnesota Mayor, she is a breath of fresh air.
@@mandandanmandamayor3511 A breath of fresh air? How? You're a mayor from northern Minnesota? You know what Agenda 21 is then.
@@kja9881 It is an area in Southwestern Nevada where all the alien craft land. I worked in there a few years back and would go out at night and walk. Nobody within 50 miles and I met with the aliens.
@@mandandanmandamayor3511 Yeah you know what that is.
This was a should you move to minnesota not a should you move to duluth lol. Failed to mention that it's up there on the list of worst trafficking cities...
Traffic is nothing compared to California
GREAT VIDEO
I'm glad it helped!
The hills and winter
I live here ya know
Could you say “and things like that” a few more times? 😂
Nice
To improve your video, you might want to show Duluth scenery as you're narrating. Show the lakes, show streets, show forests, show whatever instead of having the viewer look at you while you're speaking. .it's boring. Just some constructive criticism which you didn't ask for but i gave anyways...lol Thanks for your ideas...Shout out from NYC USA.
You will take it you live in this town you abide by the realtor code don't you.
Democrat-run city??
Yes VERY Liberal!
Yes, not run by insanity
What about the insane cost of housing or the huge drug epidemic or the massive homelessness problems all. The dam panhandling
I live an hour and a half away and visit Duluth monthly. I have NEVER been panhandled in Duluth. I am sick of people commenting that just make stuff up. I have been to 46 states and walked in everyone of them. Duluth is one of the safest cities in the nation.
Those things are everywhere.
you know..
Fuck that don't Cali the Zenith city.
OK, ticks, too? I'm out for real now.
lotta Lymes disease here
dude are you from the short bus i think you are - from duluth mn
ya Know, ya Know,ya Know,ya Know, like that ya know, like that ya know, like that ya know. Polish up a bit. I am from Ely and this makes us a little illiterate sounding. ;-)
Mosquitoes - nope. Not for me.
I haven’t been bitten for years.
There are no mosquitos in Duluth, but if you get out of the city it can be pretty intense.
I have fallen below the poverty line my four dogs have created a situation where I cannot get a home if you deny me at home I will deny you home tit for tat so be it game over on Bob the Creator from Duluth Minnesota and you have disrespected me enough
Good video, but constuctive criticism, stop using the phrase or word "you know" or "uhh" after every phrase, it makes you sound like you're rambling or you don't know what to say next. Thanks.
That's how a lot of us Midwesterners talk. And he's obviously not reading from a script. I think somebody talking about what they know is better than somebody reading a script.
@@aspiceronni4462 also the phrase "you betcha" is normal speech as well
@@aspiceronni4462 I hear "you know" as much as "like" in California.
Pop too late
He was kind of funny you and I both do is the same thing I bet you make money don't you well I don't and I still don't have a home in Duluth Minnesota that's irritating to me.
You should tell people that $22 billion dollars of our taxpayer money goes to welfare people every year.
