I got an FA-08 after dumping coffee on my roland fandom 61key. I to say the fa-08 is perfect in many ways but I can't seem to get into sequencing music. The sequencer is pretty straight forward and the sounds are amazing.
That sequencer is brain dead easy.. whats a bit tricky is to use the Fa as a sequenser for other synths it can be done but its a bit cumbersome process..if someone knows pls share...Currently im using the sampler for bringing in beats from Kross 2 and my MoDx and then assign to sequencer tracks in Fa.. its pretty straightforward
Sounds great. I own a Roland Juno DS that I'm really digging. Compare these to the mid level Korg and Yamaha boards and I really think the Rolands sound better 🎹

Now I really want to get this board because of the drum pad technology . My next two investments will be this board and the VR-09 that will complete my Roland set up. Fantom G, Juno Di, Mo6 for my bed but I'm going to replace that with the FA and VR-09
You would pretty much have it all with the FA8 on the bottom and the VR-09 on the top. Portable, powerful, and affordable. I have the Yamaha MOXF8 and Roland VR-09 and have that same end result.
Two questions: 1) Does it provide a real piano feeling or the keys are cheep making disturbing noise 2) You are using a sustain pedal, right? Is this together with the main keyboard or do I have to buy it apart? I mean..If I buy this roland, a pedal will be in the box with the keyboard or not? Thanks for the video!
The feeling of the keys it's really good!Same action of Roland RD300NX. Yes i use a sustain pedal, but it's not in the box when you buy the instrument..you need to buy yourself.
The FA-08 has a "heavy" keyboard which feels like a piano, however do *not* expect a Steinway touch with keys which will play when your fingers are already elsewhere. But indeed a good honest piano. The sounds are however those of VERY good pianos !
Could you share some details about the Full Strings Sound? Is it a custom SN sound or PCM sound made with EXP8-10? And the same for the Choir Pad and the CP+Fantasia patches, very beautiful!
I like SuperNatural sounds of guitars, pianos, some strings but synths.... synth music sound different nowdays, this seems to be oldschool, or is it only my feeling?
There is a bug in FA series and not resolved. In STUDIO SET mode, I have 16 track (Part). An Expression pedal is used to adjust the volume of the selected part and working good. When I was playing in Part 1, I dim the volume with the EXP. Pedal and without releasing the key notes, I change the Part from Part 1 to Part 2, and suddenly the volume of Part 1 turned to its original value. This is a big problem in live and no solution found in any forum. All user having problem is looking for a firmware update. Thanks Roland

if i can select 16 part in place category..it would be more better and since if we play the tone in favourite the tone does not sounds well. i hope roland company will answer my question.
This keyboard is too good i am using it since 1 month. But, it would be more better if in place of category the Part section should be given for tone changing.I am facing problem during changing of tone, because its becoming too far for changing a tone.

I have noticed that neither of the monitors you are using have trs balanced inputs. This keyboard uses trs balanced main out. How are you making this work?

Hi Kerem!I prefer Fantom G..it's sound really huge, clear and at it's time was a flagship synth. The FA/06 08 are a really good synth, the keybed of FA08 it's really good (the same of RD300NX) With all this models, you can create split, layer, studio sets (with 16 sounds toghether in split, layer..) but Fantom G have also a Live mode with smooth sound transition betwen any sounds. DKS SYNTH LAB ok i got it:) so what about instruments quality? i think integra is better and has many instruments free to download from roland. is it worth it to prefer fa 06-08? i couldnt understand roland bec like u said fantom g is lookslike better keyboard and like a flagship! roland says our new flagship is FA but in terms of looking and price and some specs, FA seems not like that. maybe just the biggest plus is integra 7 for me. more realistic sounds? i couldnt find any comparison between FA and Fantom G. maybe you can do it:) i am a bit confused:) thx a lot for your detailed answer:)
The FA series it's a mid-level range synthesizer, actually the flagship synth are Integra 7, with 6000 sounds (FA06/08 have about 2000 sounds from integra 7) maybe you can buy a jupiter 80, this synth share the same sounds of integra 7. The FA series it's great! but for me, the fantom G sound much better than the FA series. The Integra 7 / Jupiter 80 are both at the same level of Fantom G. ;)
This board sounds great and would be direct competition for the MOXF8. I own the MOXF8 and it's great but both keyboards sounds very good and allow for much creativity. The only edge I might give to the MOXF is the organ samples and a slightly better rotary effect but the sample triggering right on the panel of the FA gives it an edge there.
Hey! I'm buying an FA 08 and understand there are no built-in speakers? Does anyone know what the speaker jack requirements are in the back of the FA 08 and could anyone recommend me some decent speakers for just playing at home? Tks very much!

The keyboard goes into an audio interface. The monitors are connected into the main out of the audio interface

Instrumentalists Jade the fa08 is better then the moxf8. Moxf8 was a big disapoitment after playing the fa08. Realy fantastic keyboard for the price

61 keys is the best choice for me also, but from 37 to 88 keys for me is ok. 2 octaves no.
