Lyrics
He had enough
He couldn't take anymore
He'd found a place
In his mind and slammed the door
No matter how they tried
They couldn't understand
They washed and dressed him
Fed him by hand
Yeah! I've left the world behind
I'm safe here in my mind
Free to speak with my own kind
This is my life, this is my life
I'll decide not you
Withdrawn he'd sit there
Stare blank into space
No sign of life
Would flicker on his face
Until one day he smiled
It seemed as though with pride
The wind kissed him
Goodbye - and then he died
Yeah! I've left the world behind
I'm safe here in my mind
Free to speak with my own kind
This is my life, this is my life
I'll decide not you
Keep the world with all its sin
It's not fit for livin' in
Yeah! I will start again
It can take forever, and ever, and ever
And ever, but I'll still win.
How many like him,
Are there still
But to us, all
Seem to have lost the will
They lie in thousands
Plagued and lost
Is nothing worth this bitter cost
Yeah! I've left the world behind
I'm safe here in my mind
Free to speak with my own kind
This is my life, this is my life
I'll decide not you
Keep the world with all its sin
It's not fit for livin' in
Beyond the realms of death
In my opinion, the best Judas Priest solo and one of the best of all time.
Very underrated. I definitely put it up there with comfortably numb and stairway to heaven.
Genius solo, it keeps growing and growing.
Agreed Mr. Metalhorse
Prisoner of your eyes is much better
Do you mean the solo by KK or by Glenn?
inlakesh555 Glenn
This was my dads favorite song. We buried him to it and that guitar solo is what broke me and then it all hit me.
I lost my Dad 2 weeks ago and let me tell you this song really speaks for it self and knows how to get you right where it counts and let's you know we will see you on the other side.... To The Beyond Great makers of it and endless other songs that are to the Soul and touch the core of The Realms of death for us all if we just listen.. Thank God for Rock n Roll and bless us all.. Your Dad had good taste in music , we played Conway Twitty at my Dads and that's was Rock n Roll at one time....c.u on the otherside
Awww rest in peace your dad my dad luved this band they are genious
Rock on mate
50 years and still going strong
Good on u lad may your dad rest in peace
One of the greatest guitar solos ever played. If that mournful, sustained note at the end doesn't get you, you've never had your heart broken by death.
MK
omg MK sounds ..... that is the most perfect way to explain it!!!!
@@cherylmaloney8841 Thank you.

The Perfect Drum Fills with the complex effects Cymbals only serves to complement the Guitar Solo
@@gerddagamarose3530 Not only did Les Binks kill it on drums, he also wrote the main guitar part.

Very true
One of the best guitar solos in the history of metal.
Oh, stop. Jesus.
@@daveshawaii You have to admit it's pretty fucking good though....
Maiden Stranger in a strange land!! This is great too
Ok. Just ask Kerry king from Slayer , what this song & band meant & how influential was. One of 1000’s felt the same.
@@daveshawaii In the context of being at this video .. right now.... you're seriously saying that you're not 100% on board? What a fucking pussy.
One of the best songs ever written.
The writing and that mix of great riffs plus kind of a sad ballad is just great.
We tried to do a mix of rock and ballad with one of our latest song, would love your views on it. Return from people liking the same music is always great. stay safe in the meantime : ruclips.net/video/RCZScxA1Hk4/видео.html
Yea :o)
And ofcourse thats not an opinion, you just made a statement ; )
Tipton and Downing redefined the ‘twin guitar attack’ in Metal 🎸🎸🤘🏼
And were followed by Murray and Smith
No 2 other guitarist could beat them 2.. guitar hero my ass..
Redefined? They defined it!

In memory of my brother Michael's 1st anniversary today without us from the evil that is cancer. This song hits extra heavy today, a huge old school Judas Priest fan he was and thankful he introduced to me to such amazing music many years ago when I was a young kid. R.I.P big brother until the day we reunite and rock again 🙏❤
Stay Strong brother 🙏🙏
Fuck Cancer sorry for your loss
That's just beautiful 💞
The evil is not cancer....the real evil is big pharma keeping the cure from being used. My condolences for your loss brother. I grew up with the priest, seen them live 17 times and this is one powerful song.
Heaven bless your brother!
This song hits hard. There will never be anything like it. It is about depression. It reminds me of certain residents I care for.
🤘☹️🖤
Thank you,l survived horrible seizures on life support and woke up wanting to hear this
Dream Deceiver off of Sad Wings of Destiny comes close. I've always felt that Dream Deceiver is the fantasy version of this song, which is the reality of leaving this world behind to follow "the dreamer".
Keep on going, you are an incredible human@@JimmyHarmes-kl1gf
Depression... Maybe That's why I love so hard this one. 😕🙂
This and "Victim of changes" are just on another level level Beyond..
Victim of changes used to be called whiskey woman when they first started out they changed the lyrics a little bit and they change the name of this song 2 victim of changes look it up you'll see it's truth to it
Joan Biaz is the original singer of Diamonds and Rust. Priest definitely brought the song to life...
Top 5 most original guitar solo of all time. All hail Glenn Tipton.
I’ve often wondered what these artists think when (if) they ever read these comments. As a 55 year old, this music brings me back in time and is as good, if not better. The are times when it is almost impossible to describe the feeling you have just listening to the music. Glenn Tipton will ALWAYS be one of my all time favorite guitar players.
Going through some bad stuff in my life and this is one of the most comforting songs right now
hope it gets better mate.
Heavy Metal. If I was a clinical psychologist. I'd use it in treatment of depression.
It rearranges neural connections.
Use it when needed.
I feel you man, same thing here. Hopefully it gets better!
Keep your head up brother ..
Just don't forget most people don't know how beautiful and awsome they really are
Judas priest best song. Stained Class best album

"Beyond the Realms of Death", "Dreamer Deceiver" and "Lochness" are truly touching masterpieces in sublime area. Immortal tunes.

Great song...Glenn's solo is a true masterpiece, very hard to carry a solo that long and keep it dynamic and interesting for the listener.
Glen was and is a Master.
Even if you Not like Priest, you have to respect that Glenn/K.K./Ian/Rob and Les we're a big influence to the whole metal genre. And its amazing to hear how great Glenns soloing and compositioning skills are.
Best Tipton solo ever, such feeling and ungodly tone, werever he went to his mind to conjure this is scary,it just oozes sadness ,totally nailed it Glenn!!!
All guns blazing: Am I a joke to you?
An anthem to omnipresent control of the hereafter, struck well indeed.
Those 182 people were so lost in the guitar solo that they clicked the wrong button
Love that take on it :-)
Up to 262. Sad for em
They Must of been *blinking* too much that they missed the wrong button
Stained Class was an under rated album. I think its a masterpiece.
It's very highly rated.

The best trilogy in metal, hands down!
@@hisholiness4537 Agreed, 3 masterpieces

Beautiful song. Priest was way ahead of the times.
I used to listen to this as a kid when my dad blasted it on his speakers and mimic Rob's singing. Later on as I grew up I decided to listen to it on a heroic dose of a shroom Trip. Literally made me cry, knowing this piece of art had so much more than just music. Its a driving force, unbelievable soundscapes and darkest of lyrics portraying absolute truth!
We cannot thank you enough Priest! You will live forever.
The GOAT of all metal singers, the true God of vocals Rob Halford
glenn tipton is a mastermind
This is the most beautiful rock song I've ever heard in my life, it's like a concert in paradise and it's like Satan is on vocals and Jesus Christ is on guitar
The best metal solo of all times.

I absolutely love Glenn's solo and hes my favorite guitarist bar none. But the more I listen to this song the more KKs solo leaves me speechless..its absolutely perfect
true. I love KK's solo in this one even better. so aggressive and straight
That guitar solo took me into another dimension...
One of the alltimers, for sure.
The plaintive end note of the solo sends chills up my spine every damn time.
Probably kept you there, too. My soul has never recovered.

Absolutely!!!🤘🏼
I was raised with this music. Heavy riffs and piercing vocals. Ty of my older brother for introducing me to this magic. I’m 50 now and still love it!
Glenn’s solo is beautiful, emotional and moving, I know I’m in the minority when I say that i like KK’s shredding wah wah outro though, sounds so Metal and awesome
I like the KK's solo better as well
It may much well could have been too much, but nope
/Minoritits..oops *tist too \m/ :)
K.K. Rules
Love the drum fills pre tipton's solo..eargasm
You really can't get much better than this. Easily one of the best rock songs ever written.
Very underrated. What a masterpiece of work by Judast Priest
"The world is not fit for living in" This song is from 1977. Little did we know 😭😭😭
OM MY GOD! This has got to be in the top three most beautiful/artistic metal songs if not number one. Nobody makes music like this anymore.
One of the saddest songs I've ever heard!
This is gorgeous

For my best friend Jenna Marie Fontaine, who passed beyond the realms on December 20, 2021, this was one of her all-time favorite songs... Love you my friend, I still miss you every day!
That solo though... No wonder she loved this song so much
One of the single greatest guitar solos ever. Sorry for your loss. I'm sure Jenna was a cool gal for liking this Priest classic.
For all the departed, may God rest their souls! No one like JP could feel the loss of a loved one, God bless them!
The guitar solo...... has a special place in my heart.
The song takes u to a completely new dimension.
this is a true solo , all the feelings that is capable to gather in a same refined melody is outstanding if alien ask me for a solo this will be absolutely my benchmark .
My heart and my mind shrink every time I hear glen tiptop’s guitar is crying and telling me a sad story at the same time
Priest’s music is so timeless and never seems outdated. Love it!

The greatest song ever written.
In 1978/79 I was playing this song on the beach with a little Panasonic tape recorder and I can remember a guy with long hair saying "Yeah Judas Priest". At that time there was practically no one who had ever heard of them before in the US. Bands like Scorpions, UFO, Budgie were completely unknown until the 80's. Even AC/DC and Rush were just starting to get radio airplay here for the very first time.
It's magical moments like that that makes life fun. Imagine my shock that I got a few "I thought I was the only one who knew of his existence" comments when I posted Tony Martin on vocals for Black Sabbath on a metal form.
Як можливо взагалі створити такий шедевр❤,таке відчуття шо цю пісню створювали 1000 років😊😊😊
Great dark ballad here. One of Judas Priest's best tracks. 70s Judas Priest might be the best version of Judas Priest!
The problem in RUclips, that I can't put two likes, or three, or four. This song is timeless. The best of the best metal songs forever.
I feel the same :))
One of my all-time favorite bands. One of the all-time best songs.

One of the greatest songs of all time
Glenn & K.K. Are One Of The Greatest Guitar Duos To Ever Do It!
In this song you see the inspiration for songs like In My Darkest Hour, Fade To Black, and Spill The Blood.
I'd say more "Welcome Home... Sanitarium" instead of "Fade to Black"... For the structure of the song and even for the lyrics, I find those two songs very comparable.
Unforgiven

Right...
What a fantastic song!!!
Even if you don’t like metal you have to appreciate this
I remember watching them in 1981 in Madison square garden and Iron Maiden opening for them
I found out about Judas Priest from a dream I had. I was an 11 year old homeless boy living somewhere amongst the east coast in the early 90’s and all I remember was listening to Judas Priest to get through the hard times. Never heard of them beforehand.
This is fckin' beautiful!!!
So darn beaklutuful omg just so amazing it levels me every time holy Christ!!!!
I believe Judas Priest is the best Heavy Metal band of all time. I think that Robert Halford is the most courageous front man ever. Glenn , is a genius . He has been my favorite guitarist of all time. Ken is amazing. Ian and Dave were also some of the most talented musicians of all time. The world has been blessed with this band. Thank you for being the G.O.A.T. Ive been able to see Priest live a few times including US 1983 and you dont just see them, and hear them, you feel them. Thank you so very much. Your music has enriched my life. Thank you all for your incredible talents and dedication.Your loyal fan since 1979. VALERIE MF'n Ray.
The lead on this by Tipton is one of the best I've ever heard..and as a rock and roll metal head I've heard plenty. J.P. one of the best there's ever been thanks for the great music and memories..
to those who said magic doesnt exist. listen to the solo of this song, it teleports you to the dimension made from pure emotion pulsating on ones nervous system and soul
That 1st guitar solo! A minute & a half of heavy metal bliss. It's a composition within a composition. Anyone who knows anything about JP knows that Tipton's solo is next level shit. Fuckin magical! Definitely in my Top 10 favorite metal guitar solos.
This song just cannot be made today... just today the times are diferent , than in the 70`s... it`s pity...

I strongly agree with Mr Metalhorse, best Judas Priest solo. Best band ever.
Top 5 all time Metal band & one of their best songs & solo ever. Seen them live in 82-85, only Maiden was close
I am thankful this was one of the firsts songs I've listened by Judas. Man, so terrifying, and raw, delicate, if you feel the feeling of it. An absolute master piece. By the way, Judas came a few years ago, they did a great gig, I am thankful to them. Absolute metal legends.
One of the greatest Judas Priest songs ever
My best friend passed away a week ago. This was our favorite priest song. Love you buddy, take care. See you on the other side
In 300 years people will still be haunted by this. That voice and solo..... Divine.

Beautiful song of Judas priest
My favorite heavy metal band
This is the first Judas Priest song I ever heard. I remember being very impressed with Rob's vocals on the chorus
2020 i was immensly heartbroken and i used to practice this solo every single night for several weeks until i was able to play it… it was literally like therapy for me. I love to come back to this song and be nostalgic about 2020 being alone during covid and practice alot guitar

This song really hits hard. Lost my husband to asshole cancer. This song actually describes everything creepily well what a cancer patient can go through. My husband would have loved this song and especially the chorus the line "This is my life, this my life..
