You know this episode is one I really love and it's because the ending is so beautiful in the message. After seeing a glimpse in the future our protagonist has hope again after a time where he had almost lost it. The message hits even in a personal level when you think about it. Even for someone who is making a big step in their personal life (like I am currently dealing with) this episode message gives you the idea that you take one small step can cause a big effect in life. I'm really happy you review this episode today because it really inspires me. Also that's way I really don't like Peele's version his stories always have a negative ending about how life sucks and things can never change. Alot of different twilight Zone reboots forget that that not all the original series episodes ended on dark notes. Some like this one did end with a upbeat message. Also our main character and his family has a bright future ahead of them his son becomes a famous doctor and his future relative becomes Spider man

At that time it REALLY WAS Sept. 1961, and on September 11 on a Monday I was going to start the 1st grade that year … 😮

What made this episode so special was Cliff Robertson. He's terribly underrated, in my opinion. If you also liked "The Outer Limits," my very favorite episode was "The Galaxy Being," with guess who?? Watch it and see...
Jordan Peele's Twight Zone makes the early two thosands version seem like a masterpiece. It was utter social justice warrior crap. Hard to believe it was greenlit for two seasons.
You wanted to get a lot of the desert like tales out of this month didn't you? Anyhoo I do like this one quite a bit. Yeah it's another desert setting story, and yeah it's another time travel story but hey no one said that overused cliches can't be good. Plus this is one of the time travel stories that not only actually has a good purpose for it but our main character actually succeeds his goal. Though the ending with the future was pretty meh since it's just an oh wow a person that was from a different time was telling the truth after all that I've seen a million times before. Thankfully, the ending and message with the past characters makes up for that. So yeah great episode.
And it's really cool how a woman from the 1800's immediately knows how to open a plastic pill bottle🤣 Seriously though, I love the original Twilight Zone

" Another episode about someone from the old west coming to the present, weird. This one is very middle of the road. The acting is good and it’s more or less competent but it’s another dull one that doesn’t really go anywhere. There’s way too much of the future shock stuff and it isn't even that interesting. It had a good start but slowed down once we actually got to the present. The ending is just there, not much of a punch. It’s all just...forgettable, really. Darn." Having to remember which one the day's video is on and then remembering that I forgot this one for a reason was fun lol.

i remember all the shows from their first run and enjoy them so much now as reruns. i was 11 yrs old in 1961 and twilight zone was on friday nights.
