[I'm aware of the emotionally stunning ending where Lara is still in character for quite a wee while after the song is finished, this is something special but a Vocal Coach wouldn't see a need to watch it.

    More information on Lara Fabian:
Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, ....
In my personal opinion, she is even the best.
There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register.
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
    • she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish), can speak a bit of sicilian, russian and dutch, and has sung in 12 languages in total
    • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music with the composer.
    • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
    • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens.
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, her father is flemish, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( her grandfather is from Detroit). She was raised in sicilia first then in Belgium so she speaks both french and italian as native languages.
She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory.
She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today.
She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada.
She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship
She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music).
In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, stayed number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for 58 weeks in a row and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US.
This concert is legendary and the song you just reviewed is from this concert.
But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan.
She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years.
She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace", used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera, topped the charts for months.
Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, …
With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there.
Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her.
She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.
He covered many of her songs (that she performed originally ; she also wrote some of these).
Out of my mind I can list:
    ○ Adagio,
    ○ Mademoiselle Hyde,
    ○ Know/Vocalise/Ascolta La voce
    ○ Love of tired swans
She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ».
And she covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva).
They also performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida.
Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy: I was told Lara did connect Igor to Dimash after his Adagio cover ; Igor came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him after it.
Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs:
    ○ Floor Jansen (Adagio),
    ○ Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime),
    ○ Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie),
    ○ Morissette Amon (Broken Vow),
    ○ Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace),
    ○ Cakra Khan (Broken Vow),
    ○ Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow),
    ○ Regine Velasquez (Broken Vow),
    ○ Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade, Je t'aime),
    ○ Daria Bentsa (I guess I loved you),
    ○ Julie Anne san Jose (Broken Vow),
    ○ Rimar ( Adagio, Broken Vow),
    ○ Sarah Geronimo (Broken Vow)
    ○ Laura Bretan ( Adagio, Caruso),
    ○ Jackie Evancho (Je t’aime, Caruso and Broken Vow, BV rewritten as « Imaginer » by Lara for Jackie),
    ○ Almira (from 4th Impact band) (Broken Vow),
    ○ Amir (Je t’aime),
    ○ Anastasia Luna (Adagio),
    ○ Choi Sung Hoon (Je suis malade),
    ○ Forestella (Je suis Malade),
    ○ Petra Berger (Adagio, Broken Vow),
    ○ Katerina Maslova (Je t’aime, I guess I loved you)
    ○ ....
Today, she still has an amazing voice and tone and can still reach the 5th octave with resonance ; she still offers these emotive renditions that are her unique signature.
In June 2022, she kicked off a WW tour and stunned her fans once again with 5 magical concerts in Canada. She started the europe tour late september and I attended a concert a few days later. She was again spectacular.
Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.

In spoken French, you wouldn't the final "e" in "malade", but in a song it can be advantageous to do so. The main difference to remember between English and French poetry is that they are stress/rhythm vs. syllabic based, respectively. And that final "e" can buy you an extra syllable. That's up to the author of the song or poem to decide what they'd rather have.

@@youcansing2vanessae.vocalcoach "French" is an 'affected' language. That is, the ''finished product'', if you will( _I know._ A living, breathing language remains a work in progress) coming about as result of efforts which were initially aimed at rescuing it from a nascent state of disarray but eventually led governing forces in place early on to seek and implement measures to minimize arbitrariness in its further development. *The language's poetic nature,* , therefore, is not accidental. It represents a conscious and deliberate fashioning on the part of its visionary creators/overseers; speakers of the tongue reduced, by and large , to little more than unwitting participants in the grand _ongoing_ experiment.

“Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973.
This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …).
When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours.
The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes.
Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad.
But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s.
At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet. They became good friends.
Lara has made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power and Serge Lama adopted these in his later interpretations.
The 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal) is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries.
The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella.

I could be wrong, but I think this song of Serge Lama is an homage to his fiancee, Liliane Benelli, which he lost in a car accident in 1965. This tragedy has haunted him ever since.

@@jessyblake457 no this is not the case here.
He explained the genesis of this song in an interview with Andre Maniukian for the french tv show La vie secrete des chansons.
This is about his secret love story with Michele Potier, while they were both married, and she just had broken up with him and mobed to Morocco when he wrote this.
But the story finally ended better: they both divorced from their respective partners and got married together a few years later. Serge and Michele had a son and were together until her death in 2016.

Thanks Romer for introducing Vanessa to the queen Lara.
Lara is known to be on the same vocalist tier as Whitney, Mariah and Celine. She is for instance famous for her resonance, she is nicknamed The Ring or the Queen of Resonance for this reason. It comes from her classical training.
But she is also famous for her acting skills, her emotions conveying skills where she has no equivalence.
This perf is a perfect demonstration of this and Vanessa should replay it with the subtitles to understand the beauty of her acting and how deep the lyrics are.
Some other songs demonstrate her incredible vocal skills even better.
Vanessa, you mentioned Celine : her staff was the reason Lara was prevented to be successful in the US. They pressured Sony to stop promoting her and she had to refocus on Europe where she became a legend.
While many mention Celine when they hear Lara, I personally feel there are big differences between both: I largely prefer the tone of Lara, especially in her upper register. Also the way they convey emotions is very different: Celine projects out and with her you are part of a big show. Lara brings you in and connect you to the song story in a very intimate and deep way. Again I prefer her approach.
I will post details on this amazing song and on Lara in separate comments

I agree with this teacher. I believe most people are born with a very good instrument. But that’s not the point. If you don’t nurture and develop it the way that Dimash and Lara Fabian have, it’s not gonna go anywhere. You cannot be that good without working on it. So any fans that are trying to say it’s because they were born better or whatever nonsense, is kidding themselves and putting false thoughts into other peoples heads which are not helpful. you may have given up and not bothered, but don’t discourage others please. Let people find out how far they can go with hard work. Maybe not everyone can reach that level, or be that great no matter how hard they work, but you’ll never know until you do it.

Haley is not just any singer she is a master vocal technician that can use every single vocal expression known to man tastefully and effortlessly and she doesn't creep.,110 million views, 58 weeks time of billboard jazz chart and critically acclaimed

You've missed the intro by the piano. It gives the tone to what's coming next. You have the reaction of somebody who is used to the Las Vegas type of show at the end . The song is over ... you cut. It is not the way of Lara. At the end of the song she was still completely in the song and you've missed it. Best regards from a french speaking man from Québec city Canada.

Please do not compare Celine with Lara ! Both reside in Montreal 🇨🇦 but Lara's talent is much more than Celine's !

You should also know that last June, Lara started a World tour !

Amazing reaction vanessa, thank you for reacting to one if not the best female vocalists of our generation, if i may suggest next you should really react to Je t'aime - Live in Paris, 2001 performance and of course the Johnny Hallyday & Lara Fabian - Requiem Pour Un Fou, 1998 performance. Both are magical in their own way. Hugs and kisses from Greece, stay safe and healthy.

Now you understand why Lara Fabian is an inspiration for Dimash. The construction of his songs is identical to the style of Dimash. She is the one who wrote her song Your love. His ADAGIO LIVE is something exceptional that you should react to. You have just attended the most beautiful singing lesson with Lara Fabian. Thank you from Montreal.

With Lara it isn't only the vocals. She is a complete performance in every aspect. I'm enjoying your commentary but you are stopping in some places where you need to keep it running to get the impact. Subtitles will help a lot. The lyrics are very important in this song, especially because you can get a whole different perspective when you realize what she is saying. It didn't seem like you started with the piano intro or let it play until she was "really" finished with the song. Maybe it was just your editing for the video. Also, many people mention Celine Dion when they first hear Lara. To me, it's ONLY because Celine is a strong singer with a lot of range, but that's about where the comparison ends. Lara is on a level of her own, far and above all other performers. I think if you go through more of her concerts you will see and hear that a lot more.

Why is it that when one becomes a "vocal coach" they seem to lose all connection to the emotionality and passionate sensitivity of a song/vocalist! They seem to only focus/relate to the technical/musical aspects and are lost emotionally! This performance by Lara brings/brought millions of fans and listeners to tears (me included) but YOU might as well have been listening to a heavy metal version of Amazing Grace! Not one iota of a hint that the performance affected you emotionally. I think we couldn't find your heart with a microscope!

English Captions would have helped you understand the song so much more. Lara invests EVERYTHING emotionally & technically when she sings! I have watched many people react to Lara Fabian, Vocal Coach's included & they're floored by Lara's singing abilities. TY for your reaction/analysis & I look forward to many more Analysis in the future, I hope.

Why do vocal coaches title their videos as react or reaction, then proceed to breakdown the video and do an analysis, which is not the same thing. Watch the video as if your are in the crowd and enjoy it.

Drop the mannerisms, the clichés, the generalities and the repetitions (you say at least 32 times the same thing) , listen to the video until the end (the way you cut it is kind of insulting), use subtitles to understand what you're talking about (you obviously don't have a clue, which is a shame for a performance based on powerful lyrics)... Then I may come back to your channel.

I like the way you really listen to the voice and what it is doing. I want to suggest to you if you want to be blown away by a voice try Diana Ankudinova I know you have already done Dimash but Diana is someone I think will challenge you to figure out her voice the song I would tell you to start with is her cover of Elvis" Cant Help Falling In Love from a russian show called showmasgoon from this past year I think you will love it.

Comparing her to Celine Dion is a little bit icky. Much has been written on the internet (somw of which may be true, who knows) about the extraordinary steps Renae and the rest of Celine's crew took to make sure Lara was unable to access the North American market.

Thanks for your comment. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to say someone reminds you of someone else, as we connect things to what’s familiar. She has a beautiful voice and in my opinion there are some qualities to her voice that are similar to another very talented singer, Celine yet both are wonderful singers. I don’t think they would have tried so hard to separate her from Celine if they didn’t think there were some similarities as well. Just my thoughts. I appreciate your feedback.😊🎤

Hi, it started badly I must tell you... if you can't pronounce the title of the song naturally it's because you don't understand French and then it would help to go to the settings to do the translation, because the true essence of this song is in the first place in the lyrics then the artist's voice and performance...does she understand the history of the song by its lyrics ????
