    I do wish you had mentioned that running a 3rd-party filament through the machine voids the Extruder's warranty right away. I found that little tid-bit within the Dremel's 3d printer FAQ, and even emailed them and they confirmed it for me. It's rather disappointing, since I'd love to try out some other 3rd party filaments in it, but having just sunk $1800 into this machine, I'm not about to throw the warranty out the window.

  • @normoloid

    It looks really nice and easy to approach even for first timers.. Now if dremel could also make a little multi axis cnc machine as a buddy for this, it would be perfect pair!

  • @VincentGroenewold
    @VincentGroenewold 6 лет назад +48

    Cutting into a 1800 Dollar printer to be able to fit a standard(!) spool. Although they allow it, I wouldn't call that "supported". To me it signals more that they actually do want to limit that in the future. Also, almost no innovative features which I would expect for that price and the quality doesn't seem that much better to me than a well tuned Prusa.

    • @icyike99
      @icyike99 6 лет назад +4

      Vincent Groenewold that’s the thing though some people that own a business and don’t have time to tune a printer buy expensive machines to get work done.

    • @VincentGroenewold
      @VincentGroenewold 6 лет назад +3

      Yes totally, so for a company this might make some sense. For that price though, I would go for Ultimaker or any other supplier having more innovation. And for a company, I would be putting more importance on the support of the supplier.

    I'm glad to hear someone say that their eco ABS isnt ABS. I was pretty sure of that myself.
    Not sure what your experience was working with Dremel. I have found them pretty difficult to communicate with. And FYI, they only randomly started saying it was ok to use 3rd party materials recently. I made the case in depth to them after my review that they should allow it because it made the machine more valuable and they told me it would never happen... haha

I'm assuming you just select manually on the screen which type it is if it's not Dremel branded or select your temperatures, right? Also, can you upload pre-sliced gcode to their website if you don't like their slicer, or do you need to use USB or something for that?

      Er is zeer veel werk in te vinden, bedenk maar, alles wat je aanraakt is wel ontworpen door iemand (tenzij je in een bos woont). Als je meer de technische kant op wil kan je beter werktuigbouwkunde doen dat is meer de engineering kant. Ben je meer gericht op het vormgeven van producten dan kan je beter de productdesign kant op gaan. Sommige bedrijven nemen liever een werktuigbouwer aan omdat deze wat meer technische aanleg hebben en ze minder de nadruk leggen op vormgeving. Ik zou zeker aanraden iets te doen binnen de techniek, het is zeer interessant! (ik heb ook productdesign gedaan)

      @nowymail 6 лет назад

      The entire building shakes, no vibrates, but shakes. When a freight train goes by (not too often) everything visibly shakes. My monitor squeaks on its support foot, glasses jingle, tall furniture produces small creaking sounds etc. I could limit large prints for Sundays (less heavy trains), but 3D printers are costly and I don't want to risk that prints will be damaged too often.

      Ever since it was built. The structure was designed to withstand the shakes without damaging the walls. 50 years and no cracks at all. It's like a train station building. They don't fall apart either. If I had to print for 4 hours straight there is a big chance for at least one heavy train go by. I am almost positive it would damage the prints.

And it's a HUGE box, with no more build volume than an Ender2 - which also gives awesome quality right out of the box... now think hard, are you absolutely sure this is a fair and unbiased review?

      Yes, use less retraction with all metal hotends. Like 3.5mm or less for Bowden, and 2.5 or less for direct. Otherwise the hot filament gets pulled back into the heatsink, cools, and jams everything up.

    For that price why are they using glue sticks for plate adhesion? Isn't a heated surface enough to hold onto the plastic? So with all the stringing that these different types of 3D printers make how about a nice scary spider web with Giant African Spiders, Brown Recluse Spiders, D&D style Spider, and classic 1950s monster Spider that have captured a number of prey / victims. Including bidpeds who are encased in the web or wrapped in a cocoon pleading for their freedom.
    It would make an authentic looking piece if it scaled up to human or larger proportions for a Halloween build :)

    Warranty is woided for every crap, it has RFID meaning 3rd party filaments are a no go unless you wind them on Dremel spools, it doesnt have a proper build platform (i mean a fucking gluestick on a 1800$ machine) even my 400$ Tevo Flash will have one and it doesnt have auto bed leveling. If I priced this based on the features its pretty much a crappy Tarantula for roughly 250$. The enclosure costs a lot.
