In 1959 I was stationed to a Navy base just south of Washington DC. One of the sailors had a 51 Buick Roadmaster, ldentical except a black top. B E A U T I F U L. Didnt know who it belonged to but it was one gorgeous machine.
Had a 1951 Roadmaster convertible in the early 60's as a daily driver. Blue where this is beige and I had a new white top put on for the winter. Water fall grill bars were missing when I traded a friend (even up) my 50 Ford other wize not a mark on it. Power windows, seat, top, wonder bar radio, 322 engine with Dynaflo trans. Trans went bad and I traded it in on a 1955 red and white Century convertible. This guy is going to blow that Dynaflo trans if he keeps driving it with the parking break on.
I love cars and there are a lot of classic cars I find beautiful but this Roadmaster completely floors me. It seems that everything about it just seems right. Imagine a brand new modern version of this car that emulated all of its virtues. Much like the modern Mustang. Heck, even make it electric with a tesla powertrain. The sound of this one scares the hell out me.
If I owned this beautiful car, I would fix the transition from the concrete floor of the building and the ground so that it is smooth and that there is no drop off like we see at the beginning of this video.
No signs of a fin. Fins were stupid. Even in the 50's, we thought fins were stupid. Auto makers could have done things to improve cars in the 50's. Ball joint, and overhead valve engines were the only real improvements. Maybe V8's, but I thought straight 8 were good. Unibody came out in the 50's by Hudson, but GM didn't adopt unibody company wide until the 80's. Fuel injection was from WWII, and could have been profected in the 50's. Tubless tire came out in the early 60's. Radial tires were invented in France, but didn't appear until the 70's. My point is that car makers used fins to appear that they were improving cars, when they were wheel out the same old stuff.
What a good 👍 looking vehicle beef up the suspension, brakes, install air conditioning cruise control, I would have that as my everyday driver vehicle 👍😎
I'd rather not follow you into a car show. Lol. That's tuff to top. I get behind you in line and I'm gonna pull over a while, get back on the road later, after everybody regains their breath & steady's themselves.
I just called a Vons store and asked them if they had Prince Albert in a can. They said yes. Then I said then you better let him out before he smothercates. they then said they were calling the cops on me, so I hung up. Then I called Smith's and said the same thing. They said I better quit calling or they would call the FBI. They kept hollering at me and told me to get the F off the phone. Now I'm gonna try an Albertsons, and see what they say.
@@christopherdouglas8471 Not those wheels. They're aftermarket. The real wire wheels from Buick were available from 53-57 standard on Skylark, optional on other models except Special.
I have to say - That is one of the sharpest Buicks I've ever seen - love that color combination....
I have 3 words, Art on wheels! Absolutely stunning ride, and sounds great too! Thanks for sharing

Keeping Them Original is what keeps them more Valuable, I WOULDN'T Add Anything that it wasn't Born With.
The way it runs it almost sounds like what an old fashioned electric automobile would of sounded like in the 1940s 1950s
Please show Inside and then show w top down too.

What's with the aftermarket wire wheels?
They are a factory option from Buick, not aftermarket. Not sure about ‘51, but available from ‘53 for certain.
Close enough to be a period mod
