I had a perception Jimbo lived a stress free and carefree life besides hosting Totally and his other broadcasting commitments, so lovely surprise he was sat down watching the football with his son ❤
Did Tom say there was more jeopardy in this format of the CL than the last? That does not make much sense to me, unless I am missing something. 144 games to knock out 12 teams, the big clubs are going to have to finish below some really lowly ranked clubs to go out. Sure, it could happen - but then it has happened in recent seasons in the group stage too. You are also going to get huge arguments when a club misses out on goal difference and they've played tougher games 'on paper' than whoever it is that finished above them. Look at Celtic's fixtures, they are ranked 36th hardest draw, if they qualify for the top 24 over other teams, how much of it will be down to the draw? Sure, luck of the draw was always a part of it (look at Arsenal's group last season, even though they were not first seeds), but it will be far more obvious here with them all in one league. By the end of November I expect the view of the new CL format to be resoundingly negative, if not before then - there is little to get excited about if/when most of the big clubs have got the couple of wins they need (with games left) to be comfortable. Also worth pointing out that to most of the big clubs, whilst top 8 would be lovely, it might well involve having to play their best side in their last two league games - they could just rest them and play a couple more games in Feb. It is also not a complete disaster, so I am not sure how much even that will matter come January.
If players are playing too much then they need to speak to their managers, Pep plays Rodri every game possible when he could easily rotate and rest him for 5-10 matches.
Oh and Sporting won 2-0 against Lille. I love the podcast but obviously mentioned Portuguese teams must lead to self destruction. The incredible Debast goal was even discussed without mentioning the team! It looked even better in the stadium. Oh and Gyökeres scored, this season for club and country, 9 games,12 goals and 5 assists, but don't mention it either 😂
@@sohumparanjpe2639 that's extremely helpful! I find it incredibly distracting listening to how much effort he puts into pitch control at the end of each sentence. I'll try to think of him more like a cross between Julien Laurens and Robbie Savage.
Incredibly boring crew this week, damn. Caught between a rock and a hard place in terms of what to discuss in the allotted time, which meant really no substantive discussion of any competition.
@@sohumparanjpe2639 All 'English' football crew are boring compared to the Europe podcast version. They all lack personality and don't bounce off James in the same way.
Big fan of Colin Millar hope he gets more pods!

Top squad for this cast, like it
I want to shout out Duncan last year at the end of the season he said Kompany would get a good job because his methods were great and he was right!

Dream pod team!
Good show. Shame the great Michael Cox isn’t on much anymore. His takedowns on Twitter are magnificent
yeah, why is he never on now?
My theory is he doesn't like being on video, which is entirely valid @@paulscanlon7287
Maybe because he has his own Tactics pod also on the Athletic. But I agree, I would love to see him more here too
Love the t shirt Duncan. I've been meaning to go to Ronda and see that for years

Seb looking healthy
Is Colin's neck alright?
How do you end up with as weird a voice inflection as Tom Williams.
I'm curious whether it is learned, trained or straight from birth.
He's Welshman who worked in France, perhaps that had effect??

Any reason why you didn't ask will City triumph against Arsenal?
That’s for the friday podcast mate
because they aren't whiny babies
Could it be because City are the current champions, have won 6 of the last 7 championships, and are sitting top of the table 🤔
