What are your opinions on graph brands for Southwest Louisiana (Calcasieu Lake & surrounding marshes)? For mapping purposes.
    Garmin, Lowrance, Bird, Simrad?
Glad to see you uploading again!

I have always been a fan of lowrance/simrad mostly because I think they have the best options for aftermarket map cards which is what I run. I have not been overly impressed with the maps that come standard on any companies graphs especially in shallow water. Simrad and lowrance are both are owned by the same company (Navico) but in my opinion I have been very happy with simrad. I did originally have a simrad Go 9 at the second station and was not overly impressed with it. A lot of it is personal preference but in my opinion the Evo series Simrad units are by far my favorite graphs I’ve ever used.

How skinny does she draft? I am on a river that during low tide gets to 12” or maybe even a little less, want something that will go out into the gulf but still fit the family, i am in Florida

Ultimately it depends on load. I think with a lighter outboard than mine it might get right at that 12” mark. Before I added the tower I had 4 customers on board plus myself, 3/4 tank of fuel, rear livewell full of water and bait, and two large coolers filled with ice and the stern got hung up on a sandbar. I decided to pull out the measuring board and see the true draft. The lowest part of the boat was dragging at just over 13.5” but that was with a completely full load. We definitely were far from being stuck and managed to get off the sandbar using only the trolling motor
