    Solid guide video, and congrats on video 500. All the important mechanics and strategy are fully covered in the video, so I have nothing useful to add. Only a handful of nitpicks.
    Would be good to note crit is less valuable on SMG due to only x1.5 crit modifier. Tentacle was probably overkill. Would link or recommend Aros' Brotato guides on google docs as a baseline for new players.
    On the comment about surviving through player skill. Strategies geared towards newer players should be simple to understand and execute. Relying on small dodges to survive requires knowing exactly how big your hitbox is. Getting high move speed as a new player is great, because they can simply retreat when under pressure, or run around or through openings in the horde. New players are also more likely to fall behind the damage curve, so if they can't run away, they die and the run is lost.
    On the subject of piercing bullet. Would've made a special note that you need to think carefully before taking it with shotgun, as it gimps the cleave damage of your t4 shotgun. If you look at damage stats of wave 18 before piercing, SMG outdamaged shotgun. Which means there wasn't enough density for shotgun to get full value.

    • @Cephalopocalypse
      @Cephalopocalypse  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks very much and great additinal tips! Arosrising's guides are very good, though I think mostly geared at more advanced players and for high % challenge runs. It's true that crit is worse on smg, but any non-attack speed multiplier has so much extra value on smg that I think it's still very useful. Basically I think of them as having something like +200% attack speed to start, so even small numbers in other damage stats get multiplied significantly.

  • @eli8729
    @eli8729 8 месяцев назад

    Really cool video. The only question I'm still not sure about is about rerolling while having locked items. In my mind you always lose value bc if you pay for a reroll, you only check 3/4 slots. If you would have just played the next round, bought the item and rerolled after that you check 4/4 slots. I guess it can make sence in the early game since you mainly roll for your garuanted weapons anyways but later on I feel like its a misplay.

    • @Cephalopocalypse
      @Cephalopocalypse  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks! To answer that: because rerolls and item prices go up every shop, and rerolls get more expensive each time you use them within a shop, you can often save money by locking items and still rerolling. It's true you miss out on a shop slot, but you also pay much less for the slots you do see, and any items you buy from those will be cheaper as well.

    We really have different experiences with SMG, it's one of the worst range weapons for me. It's nice the first few waves, but it gets worse and worse and doesn't kill anything anymore by wave 10.

    • @Cephalopocalypse
      @Cephalopocalypse  11 месяцев назад

      It's extremely powerful, but you do need to prioritize flat damage with it. Think of it as being the same as another weapon but starting with -5 ranged damage and +200% attack speed, so you need to repair that negative to get the damage to really start to show up

    Does luck effect shop spawns. I thought it did but you didn’t mention it

    • @Cephalopocalypse
      @Cephalopocalypse  11 месяцев назад

      It does! My bad for not mentioning that in the list. It increases the likelihood of higher level weapons and items showing up. This is *mostly* good but does have some downsides - there are some extremely powerful and efficient level 1 items that it's nice to see in the shop, and that makes those less likely to appear (coffee, tree, bag, etc). Still very good to have overall though!

  • @richshirk4772
    @richshirk4772 7 месяцев назад

    I'm just curious about something. Early in the video you say that it is better to have more Tier II weapons than combining up as a goal. Around Wave 9 shop you combine two Tier III SMG and buy a Tier II when it was an option to Recycle a Tier I and replace it with that Tier II. This seems contrary, would it not be better to have 2 Tier III and a Tier II rather than a Tier iV and a Tier I? If it was just a mistake, cool. I'm trying to learn whether this is a strategic decision I'm not understanding?

    • @Cephalopocalypse
      @Cephalopocalypse  7 месяцев назад

      Sorry for the confusion! I should have been more clear - you still want to upgrade your weapons and definitely shouldn't recycle to try to stay at level 2 weapons. More total weapon levels is (almost) always good. That concern is for if you have for example 2 level 2s and 4 level 1s, and find a level 1 in the shop: it's better in those cases to make a third level 2 than it is to make a single level 3.

    Interesting, I do the exact opposite and focus on regen with ranged builds because you are typically not getting hit, while melee is always attacking and getting hit so I choose life steal.

    • @Cephalopocalypse
      @Cephalopocalypse  11 месяцев назад +2

      I like my healing to work when I take a lot of damage and have to retreat to reset, so I find with melee builds and lifesteal you can sometimes be too low health to play aggressively enough to keep triggering the lifesteal. Definitely keep doing what works for you though!

  • @markcromer4069
    @markcromer4069 11 месяцев назад +1

    I can't understand why you rate consumable heal so highly. I have D5d every class, and I don't remember even one that didn't stack enough leech / regen to make consumable heal irrelevant.

    • @cqstle-
      @cqstle- 11 месяцев назад

      Free heals are never a bad thing.
      While more necessary for Melee, it's always nice to have three ways to heal. Sometimes they're not as necessary but I can't say they never help. Depends on the shop price too but Wierd Food is so strong because Dodge is easy to raise.
      It would be informative if we knew how much consumable healing we took during the run. Then again, it would be cool to save all run details with each character.

    • @Cephalopocalypse
      @Cephalopocalypse  11 месяцев назад

      Consumables won't usually be a big portion of your overall healing, but they give you burst healing, which is very powerful if you're in a bad situation. You store the fruits on the ground and then can heal back to full instantly, saving you from death if you screw up. Of course, it's better to never screw up, but that ain't me

    • @Zxv975
      @Zxv975 11 месяцев назад

      Tl;dr: consumable healing strong early at a point where HP regen and lifesteal aren't as strong, because the stats they scale with aren't as high (e.g. attack speed for lifesteal) and because consumable healing has a way higher base value.
      You use consumables to get you through that stage to where your regen stats can take over and carry you through the end game.

    After 1700+ hours sunk into BG3 I needed a break... xD I just started playing Brotato about a week ago, and I 100% it thanks to your guides. Awesome work dude! And skill... That's the only thing I'm missing now to clear Danger 5 on every character... I'm dedicated though! Thanks for all the help it was extremely valuable! :)

    Truly, an Armageddon level event, brought about by an extremely ornery Cephalopod.

    I've just got myself to level 4 difficulty and I'm getting hammered at around the 10th round. it's been pretty consistent up to now so I'm obviously not doing something right...looking to learn a lot more about how the stats work for the weapons. I tend to go ranged more than melee but I'm starting to reconsider...anyway, looking forward to learning more...your my channel of choice, your comments seem to praise your work so thanks for what you've taught us all so far :)

    Today, I completed my final Danger 5 with the Artificer, largely thanks to your guides. I tried to do it with the Plank, but I kept having terrible luck in various ways, so I tried the Shredder.
    It’s good, but I think your suggestion of upgrading to mid-level weapons before getting a high one doesn’t apply here, as the Artificer wants every shot to explode, so you want at least one tier-4 Shredder ASAP.

      Awesome, congrats! And yeah, artificer is weird in a number of ways - that's one of my guides that spawned the most discussion since people have very strong feelings about how the class should be played and don't always agree!
