This song is so beautiful and depressing because it signals the end of some of the best music I’ve ever heard or ever will hear. Ricky, if you see this thank you so much for digging me out of so many dark times through your gorgeous voice. Thank you for being the background to my everyday and for releasing this song. I’ve been streaming it non stop since it came out on Friday, I was lucky enough for it to be 8am when it came out in Ireland where I live and I was in tears on the way to school. Thank you eternally and please bring back the vlogs

Apparently the story is spoken by Ricky's aunt, Mary Lou, with his uncle Dennis commenting "thats awful!". Not sure who the story is about or how it pertains though...

I don't know why but this song sounds so personal
this is the kind of song that transports me to like. sitting on a porch in a rocking chair, looking over a massive forest, listening to the hoppers and cicadas, surrounded by ghosts of things i never did
my entire life has led up to listening to this, and i can confidently say that i'm happy for it.
of course that is why it has part II
The first one was like the version with all this emotion and affects added on, and this one is like the version you use to serenade someone, and I love both of them equally, this song makes me feel in love, but also mourn at the same time

This is the only band I’ve ever been charmed enough by to be able to call it my favorite band. Usually I listen around to songs from different bands, here and there. But every single song from The Honeysticks touches me deeply and on the surface. I’m so sorry that I’ll never get to see you guys live. Your music is truly a work of art. Thank you for making me cry and laugh and imagine. You will always be my favorite band.

I just don’t know how they manage to make this song feel so much like a goodbye?? I know it was their goodbye piece but like it emits the feeling of something so bittersweet?
