    Do you only invest in SP500 ETFs? Or pick your own stocks?

    • @TheAlmostAstrophysicist

      Hey! So I had a decent chunk in VTI (total market etf) and VGT (total tech etf) which I sold for my condo down payment but my biggest conviction picks were LCID and MTTR which I bought when they were SPACs and both tripled (and I sold a decent chunk near a high so got lucky!) I have too much in individual stocks though and am hoping to move things over to VTI/VGT over time (especially now that the market has been correcting heavily for growth stocks due to rate hikes/inflation).

      @@TheAlmostAstrophysicist That's awesome, I'm curious if you also trade derivatives like options and futures?

    • @TheAlmostAstrophysicist
      @TheAlmostAstrophysicist  2 года назад +1

      I do not! I only buy and hold shares, I think timing the market with calls and puts is much harder so I just buy when I think the company valuations is low. :)

    can you share the resources that helped you learn how and where to invest?

    • @TheAlmostAstrophysicist
      @TheAlmostAstrophysicist  2 года назад +3

      Absolutely! There were several RUclips channels - Graham Stephan, Investing with Rose, Andrei Jikh, Our Rich Journey, and more! I'd say that you'd want to start with Graham Stephan and his videos about how to start investing. Andrei Jikh also has one about how to get started! It's mostly about buying index funds/total market ETFs - that's where they start so I'd recommend those channels!

    How to get amex platinum?

    • @TheAlmostAstrophysicist
      @TheAlmostAstrophysicist  2 года назад

      Hi! You'd apply just like any other credit card :) To get approved, they usually require a credit score above 700+ but that's really the only qualifier. A good credit score and a previous record of paying your cards off! It's a little pricey though with it's annual fee at $695 a year but definitely worth it if you use it for all of the points. :)

      I got SO lucky because I bought a few spacs (LCID, MTTR) that tripled but I certainly would've lost those gains if I didn't sell near highs! My portfolio did correct like 20% the past month given the nasdaq drop. I'm 100% sure that my return this year will be flat haha, nothing near 100%. :)
