You mention 'crunch' box. By time of HT & HG the three 3 speed manuals were full synchro. It was HK that ran no synchro on first (but you could order synchro on first as a factory option)
I have an HT with the same running gear and went for a nice outing on a Sunday arvo, only to have a wheel bearing collapse - yay Have to flat tow it to my mechanic in 2 weeks to sort it out, along with a good look over it. When you mentioned the diff, I got worried lol
The 186 red motor is known for fuel pump leaks, rear seal leaks(rope seal) and leaks between the timing cover and sump. It's the first I've ever heard of an oil pump leak! Had a HG premier in the family for nearly 20 years with a trusty 186 with 3 speed trimatic. Good car, but so much more costly to run the HK kingswood with 186 on 3 speed manual(all synchro, that was standard). The difference between the two was 10 to 15 mpg. I managed to squeeze 35 mpg out of the HK with condensation forming on the bottom of the carby. The best on the HG trimatic, was 24 mpg, with condensation forming on the bottom of the carby. Both were ice cold to the touch on the bottom. That's how you know when points gap, ignition timing and carby float level is in the "sweet spot".
Hey mate! yes after degreasing the whole lot from that thick build up it was much quicker and easier to get it blasted, then powder coated, it gets into all the tight areas aswell where paint doesn’t
G'day, This car is really coming together nicely. Q. Roughly what does it cost to get a cross member powder coated. So thanks for sharing, man. I look forward to seeing how things have progressed next week. ✌️ Peace from Melbourne/Pakenham 3810
10/10 Blake, for what you have done, not over the top, Just right.

Hey blake how much are you asking for the premier?
As it gets closer to being all finished and ready I’ll have a further think about it and maybe one more video on it 😁
I have a 427 ls motor brand new in boxes ready to assemble for sale if you want a slight change in direction 😂
