I appreciate the convo around the business side of Tottenham. It adds a layer of depth to the conversation around Levy/ENIC.

Hi Sean. I have a question for you. As I understand it, Tottenham generated more revenue than Chelsea last year, and it has been suggested that Chelsea is in danger of breaking PSR this year. So how is it that early indicators suggest that they will be more ambitious in this transfer window than ourselves?
Personally, I would suggest that Chelsea's owners are more ambitious than ours, and are more willing to push or circumvent the rules so they can build a competitive edge on the pitch.
As one of the mindless members of the "Levey Out " mob, I might also suggest that Chelsea and Man City have been far more successful at building an academy which produces top talent that can be sold at high prices, plus sell on clauses, that generates pure profit and enables them to balance the books and invest heavily in the first team.
One of the reasons I believe ENIC cannot or will not take us to the next level, is that over the last 24 years they haven't developed a recruitment policy or academy that meets the need of developing the first team as a whole. Moreover, Levy's negotiation tactics foster distrust and conflict hampering the club's ability to close deals.
To compete with the big boys I'd argue that we need to be more ruthless in moving players on, for example, Son whose market value will begin to fall, and invest the money into the academy and young talent. Whilst it's true that Son generates monies commercially, this benefit is spread over years, and cannot be invested in the here and now.
Lastly, to be competitive we need to also develop a winning culture at the club, something I believe ENIC has failed to do, and comments by previous managers would allude to this fact.
I'm rather tired of those calling for new ownership being painted as infantile or self entitled. As a club, simply because of the size of our fanbase, we should be enjoying some tangible success on a semi regular basis. To suggest otherwise is simply accepting mediocrity.
I'm happy to see where Ange takes us, and I'll continue to get up at 3 am to watch the matches. I'm based in Singapore 😂.

I've always described Chelsea as a basket case of a club, but looking at what they've been getting away with and how...perhaps every other club should adopt their modus operandi.

The business side of football is fascinating and the aspect of the sport that most fans don’t sufficiently appreciate. Your insight is unique in this space. Keep it up!!!

England has the players. We don't have the manager. England will only win the Euros if we don't rely on our manager and the squad just go out there and prefform on their own.

Eze can play left of the 2 central midfielders and Maddison on the right of the 2 central midfielders.

Great points raised here about FFP and PSR - makes it an uncompetitive league by entrenching existing high revenue clubs

    Great show chaps.
Couple of points. There was going to be, the much lauded & publicised, £150m injection into the club. £100m done. What happened to the other £50m…..
My opinion (which is of no consequence) is that if the current shareholders sell a stake, they’ll withdraw the funds. Why? Neither Lewis or Levy are getting any younger. They’ll (if they have any commercial sense) have a liquidity day soon. And I think that the timing of that has been exacerbated by the fact that he’s been outflanked, business wise, by the state owned 4.
You’re right; the SO4 will just buy the best lawyers and beat the authorities hands down.
FFP, & PSR, are pointless whilst there are loopholes to exploit.

Hmm lawyers write the rules and get paid for it. They then argue the rules and get paid for that.
It's not in lawyers interests to write clearly defined rules.

    • @jeffstevens4262
      @jeffstevens4262 3 месяца назад

The more loopholes they include in the rules they've written...the better. They can always argue against any confrontational rulings by the football suits. The entire thing is a mess and I'm afraid to say, it's all as a direct result of the outrageous sums of money being ploughed into football by Sky and TNT Sports for broadcasting rights. With all that cash slopping around the game, there's bound to be any amount of corruption and rule bending. Football has let the toothpaste out of the tube and now, there's no way back. It's only going to get worse and football as we know it, will eventually disappear up its own arsehole. Well done you bunch of crooked idiots.

About penalties and penetration, if our starting wingers don't drive forward down the wing and into the box, then Ange should sub them earlier rather than later.
Ange needs to behave like a proper boss, and stop defending everybody.

All the rumors of spurs being linked with some great players will only remain rumors. The players they will buy will be in the same category as Solaman ,Tio verna,Richi,Sarr,Madison etc nothing special that will make our team true competitor for 24,25..They wont go and spend 50 or 60 million on a player more like in the 20s 30 million range.
As long as we do well and stay in the the top 4 i be happy

The finance side fascinates me as it’s a world familiar to me. Unfortunately success is driven by finances when most fans just want success. It’s shame but we are at a disadvantage to country owned clubs such as City, Chelsea and Newcastle and there nothing we can do. the same goes for Madrid who are State owned in reality

How is it that thousands of viewers are willing to listen to conversations about my club this, my club that spent 70m - we can get this player for 50mil, we have 200mil to spend bla bla bla - but these viewers don't even own homes 😢 heck, some can't even afford to buy tickets but here they're getting engrossed in all this million this million that talk. Oh the lovely days of Ronaldinho dribbling through Arsenal that made me fall in love with football, all this money talk has ruined the game
