Boy oh boy. I'll never stop thinking about Marchand's opportunity at 15:01. If he had shot it 2 more inches to the left, I think we'd be prepping for the Final battle right now. What a tragic ending for such a fun group. Gonna miss watching all the fun and great chemistry that this team had all year long (and until game 5 showed up).
To add: As tough as this was to watch, it does make me a little glad to know that we were the only group to put up more than 1 win against the panthers. I like to think that this series set them them up to take it all the way. They clearly discovered a way to beat our incredible resilience and have used that experience and knowledge all playoffs long to get where they are now. Gotta tip my hat to them.

@@aaronmartinez5029 I agree but also disagree. There's so many interviews with his teammates about how his words/presence in the locker room impacts their game positively, so he's definitely not too quiet. I do think that it's time to rest the skates though. He's been one of the best two-way players for so long and still is when in good health, but after this season he's just become too injury prone. I hate to say but his top game ability is now outweighed by injuries and I think next year he would just be a liability. I'd like to see him take a spot behind the bench or anywhere in the office. Time for young blood to take over.
Needs to retire, go to the 3C, or stop being a leader - because his leadership ain’t taking this team to a cup. They’re too soft and ghost in the playoffs.
I really thought that waiting until after the season ended to watch this episode would soften the blow. It didn't. I still get emotional thinking about what might have been. That being said, the season is over now and we're onto a fresh start. This team could go 0-82 and I'd still love them. As they say, black and gold till I'm dead and cold!
1. No socks, Marchand? Interesting nugget. Like how Orr never used tape on his stick. 2. We played our best hockey of the year when we had the Pooh bear jerseys in rotation. Should’ve worn them for game 7 :) There’s probably a rule against that, because Bettman. 3. Amazing that Marchand’s shot is up by a couple inches, and this entire series becomes just a 5 game gentleman’s sweep. A mere footnote in this season’s story.
"We're going to need everybody in this room... Oh, except you, Sways... You're just going to sit on the bench and watch Ullmark lose the series for us by being over-stressed with the sole tending responsibility."
Yea, i still think the major fuck up is on Jimmy here. He should have put Sway on when the series were in favor for Boston 3:2 and Ullmark just did his 'if you are a goaltender, ten the goal' mistake. When i saw that Ullmark is again put in the crease after his huge mistake i instantly knew, that this was a bad call. Poor Linus, with totally destroyed psyche didn't have a chance. And then Jimmy put Sway on the last game? It should have been the other way around, even me, just a simple hockey watcher and enjoyer immidietely knew they should have swapped their goalies after that, but oh well, it's in the past now.
Florida played good. Boston played alright. But ultimately in the end, Florida was spoon fed the series wins with the amount of mistakes the B’s made. Not counting Florida out as the better team, but wow, talk about being handed a freebie
As the regular season was coming to a close the Bruins were winning games that they likely didn't deserve to. The problems were a bad omen for the playoffs, but the excitement of the regular season blinded a lot of people as to what was going to happen. @@Killerbeast-hx5qp This core has choked in the playoffs over the past decade with 3 different coaches. There’s no running it back with this team with any expectation that it’ll be magically different.
Florida Panthers are this year team Team of Destiny! No matter what the Bruins did, they would have lost. You can't make this story up! The Panthers barely made the playoffs, and no matter what Pittsburg and Islanders did, the Panthers were destined to play the Bruins, one team that they can't play too well (2-2 this season). During the regular season the Bruins always found a way to win, but not in the playoffs. I don't know what happened to Ullmark, he either was injured or playoff stress. Swayman most likely would've done worst, take a look at game 7, some easy goals went in. The Panthers came back from 3-1, in game 7 tied the game in the last minute and won over time. They beat Toronto 3-1 and swept Carolina, all good teams. Does this sound like a normal team? They most likely will win the Stanley Cup. The Bruins was the better team but Panthers found a way to win. They were more hungry and physical! Why does Bergy and Krejci want to retire, when they both have over 50 points, about 20% of the NHL players get over 50 points. Bruins should try to keep both of them, if possible keep Orlov and Bertuzzi. Keep any offensive player that has over 35 points. If I was the coach, my goalies would be on notice, if they let 3 goals in, we change goalie and try to reset the game. If a goalie is having a bad day, don't keep them in the game! During the regular season Ullmark would only let in 1-2 goals, in the playoffs, he was a different goalie!
A tear was dropped.
Those close-ups of Bergeron and Marchand at the end say everything that needs to be said. Thanks for everything Bergy. What a player.
