Alright, now this one pisses me off. Minolta were the first film cameras I got into, and still use their lenses on modern mirrorless cameras. To see the Minolta name plastered on this actually makes me mad.
I love your videos on these cheap cameras. I run across them on Amazon pretty often. I am always tempted to try one out for kicks, knowing they are terrible, just to see what I can do with it. Thanks for doing the work for me. But you are correct, it is upsetting that the advertising of these cameras attempt to fool the layperson into thinking they are getting a quality item. The reviews on Amazon have to be bought and paid for, as the majority of them always praise the cameras. Its a shame, as years ago for the same price you could get a decent budget canon, sony, fujifilm point and shoot, but those days are gone, and we simply have one Chinese factory pumping out camera innards, to be branded for US sales by whoever wants to sell them.
Exactly. And I'm sure a lot of the reviews on Amazon are bogus, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few are also just well-intentioned people who have never tried anything else, so they don't know how much better a "real" camera is.
Your commitment to these weird cameras I always see on amazon and Ebay is spectacular. This fills a need I've always had- to see what the quality and differences there are to these cheap, plasticky things. and I agree that the bastardization and complete obliteration of the Minolta name is sad. Thanks, and keep up these awesome videos!
I enjoy these (can I call them Cameras) reviews, I really feel bad when people buy these camera, thinking they are getting a "Camera". Unfortunately, some will not see what the difference is between a real camera and these. An old lady knew I was into photography, she handed me a box with this sort of device and one that resembled a camcorder. I felt so bad she had bought this for maybe herself or grand kids.
Like I said before, cheap digital cameras in photos and videos looks like old 80's movies and photos, it's a magic touch that can't be found in high brand digital cameras.
The 48 mp got 4k got me along with the name brand. My sister wanted a simple non expensive camera but after getting it for her and setting it up it looks like total junk, she's going on a trip this Wednesday and this camera got here today, I could just shoot myself, she's so happy that she has a camera and looking forward to me showing her how to use it.. No time to get a new one, should I tell her it's junk or just let her have fun on her trip..Help me somebody...
Throughout half the video i'm thinking "oof i love my Canon PowerShot G2" which is... about 20 years old, 4MP, but it's so easy to control, shoots beautiful, and even has RAW capability to push the imaging a little harder on my PC. And the built-in lens is just amazing. And i love bracket shot too, which allows to do post-HDR. Also still liking my Pentax Optio W10 i got 2006-ish. I would be thinking of upgrading to a new waterproof periscope zoom lens camera but it needs to be not too expensive and it needs to be able to shoot 1080p60 video, which the current successor Ricoh WG6/WG80 do not - 4k30, 1080p30, 720p120... wait there's something missing in the middle, why?... besides being a little on the expensive side. In general i think periscope lenses are highly underrated and i'd love to see more cameras with this sort of construction, but they make for a tough sell since when people don't see a motorised thing jotting out the front, they instantly think less of a camera. The front element size is of course limited but it saves all the external bulk that protects and reinforces the moving parts and the colour fringing performance and sharpness of most of these lenses of Japanese design is absolutely exemplary.
Thanks so much for your video. GREAT information!!!! I found one of these on a local bid site that will probably be win for $40 to $50. After the first use, video or still pics, this seems to be a waste of money. Going to pass on it. Thanks much!!!!
I bet there is only a tiny cellphone camera module inside. 90 % of the case is empty. I would not be surprised if you found a weight for making it feel more substantial.
Most of these cameras literally have blocks of metal inside them. Due to the weight balance of this Minolta, I suspect the fake, aluminum lens on the front is how they added weight to this model. It's very front heavy. It seems like the fake lens body accounts for half the total weight of this camera.
They kind of don't get designed, they just evolve from a different product like say an 808 spy keyfob by doing the bare minimum effort to pass at a glance.
Yeah, I imagine the guts start life as a cheap webcam or one of those cheap, Wi-Fi security cameras. They throw together a barely functional interface and control scheme and stick it in a shell.
Minolta's name was bought and is being licensed out. This camera was not built by Minolta, it was not designed by Minolta. It's a cheaply built rebranded generic Chinese junk camera.

Thank you for this review, and just in time!
Helpful thanks!

I want to know how to set date and time while shooting

4:00 please make a video about the upper left one on the desk
I do plan to review that one. Thanks.
I was about to purchase a Minolta mnd50. I'm glad I watched this first. I guess I'll stick with Canon, Nicon, or even Kodak 😒
ミノルタは撤退したはず...?
コニカミノルタのホームページで問い合わせたところ「当社との関わりはございません。」とのことでした。
yashicaのように名前を買って、他の企業が運営しているみたいです。
Thank you. That same "old" saying, you get what you pay for.

Look for a used Canon PowerShot S95
How could anybody design a camera like this “so called” Minolta? Perhaps they allowed chat GPT 3.5 to design it? 🤔
They kind of don't get designed, they just evolve from a different product like say an 808 spy keyfob by doing the bare minimum effort to pass at a glance.

This could be cool for a Blair witch type of movie lol
Minolta 4k. No thanks. I just bought a Polaroid 8K with 60X optical zoom for less money
Z zewnątrz to jest stary Canon prawie jeden do jednego
