The variation cards are extremely rare to find in any color even in the base sets. I can’t imagine a one of one variation. These should fetch a very hefty price.
I agree with you on everything! It’s a great set! My personal favorite from 2017 is the 2017 panini nobility set. I love the basic look of the card and the value is still there on a lot of cards
@@SoccerCardCorner big fan on the bronze /20 ,but just all the legends pele, messi,Ronaldo,Rooney, Mia hamm, they all just look great give ‘em a look at
Love it! Every time I'm searching eBay for golds I almost convince myself to collect blue or green or the entire rainbow of certain players. I love how all the cards look and the chase to find them has been really energizing from a collecting standpoint.
@@SoccerCardCorner same here! Certain colors look awesome for certain players. The purple neymar looks great with the PSG kit, the green Bruno, etc. Telling myself that I'm only doing blue is just a tactic to save myself money.
Muy bonito, quiero empezar esta colección /50 /99 150 mi pregunta es crees que este set en los próximos 10 años seguirá siendo lo mejor en lo que cartas de fútbol me refiero, crees que aumentará su valor cada año?
Hola! It's hard to say if it will hold value or not, but it is currently considered one of the key modern soccer sets and also includes a number of all-time modern greats (Messi, Ronaldo, etc.). I'm personally collecting it because I believe it will hold value, but nothing is guaranteed.
@@SoccerCardCorner Panini World cup 2014 Prizm or Topps Chrome 2017? Fot the future Which collection will be more important? I'm going to start this week and I don't know which one to look for /50/99 topps chrome or /99 /199 /149 panini prizm Neymar, Ramos, Ozil, Reus...
Everyone who talks about this set, talks specifically about certain refractors and never the base set. What do you think the print run of the base set is? Do you think the best set makes any sense? with respect the term "historically significant set" is not used in other sports - 1989 Upper Deck, 1992 Topps Stadium Club, even the first refactors in 1993 Finest, first chrome, first Prizm - you could say are sets that revolutionized the sports cards, but in reality they're valued pretty much inline with their print run. So we'll see. A gold refractor makes some sense because their consistently + rarity makes them collectable. Where do you think the delta between the 2017 & 2018 & 2019 Gold Salah goes? A 2021 Salah Gold just sold for $27 all in - what is that 30x or 40x? do you think the delta continues to expand or does it close?
Those are some really great points. On the print run, I haven't dug in enough on the types of refractors per box, but let's say you get one gold /50, orange /25, or red 10 (or super) per box, that's 86 parallels x 99 players = 8,514 boxes. If 3/4 cards in each pack is base, that's 54 base cards per box and 54 * 8,514 = 459,756 total / 99 checklist = 4,644 per player. That obviously changes if our assumptions change, but I would guess it's less than 5,000 per player, meaning even non-numbered refractors are not much more than 8,514 * 3 (# of non-numbered refractors per box) = 258. Even if the math is off by a bit, we're probably talking less than 500 refractors per player. That's some back-of-the-napkin math there, so open to other viewpoints, but I think assuming one gold/orange/red per box is reasonable. Fair point on "historically significant". I'd argue it matters a bit more in more niche (e.g. lower print run) sports like soccer vs. junk wax era baseball / football / basketball, but the print run point is valid and well taken. I think that plays into the allure of 2017 Topps Chrome in addition to the aesthetic of the set (e.g. full card refractors vs. borders, top players, etc.). It's an interesting question on the delta between years. I agree that non-2017 years seem quite undervalued relatively speaking. I've been contemplating trying to collect all of the Salah Topps Chrome Gold PSA 10s, but that is purely a collecting mindset. Imo gold will always have desire and therefore value, but at the end of the day the market decides. In general, I am a fan of approaching things through print run like you suggest. Thanks for the awesome thoughts!
The 2017 Topps Chrome UEFA are the Best Modern Soccer Cards hands down. Absolutely the OG of soccer cards.

A 1/1 would be insane!
Dude. You've inspired me to chase this set. Gold's!! Thanks for the great content my friend.
Best of luck! It's a fun set to collect.

Thanks for sharing! I need to check out Nobility a bit closer. Any specific players or parallels you like from that set?

Yeah I've been going heavy on 17' lately. Gold is going to be tough! I'm going for blue, might try rainbows for Suarez & iniesta...

What was the hobby box price when it first came out??
That I'm not sure. I'm assuming it was a few hundred dollars like hobby boxes now, especially since it was pre-COVID boom.
