Top tip: buy a small size maglite. They are so powerful, you can shine them at doors whilst driving past and you’ll see the numbers with no problems. I used to drive for an Indian takeaway at weekends for extra cash and the boss there gave me that tip… never looked back! It’ll save you SO much time
The headlights seem fine to me and in wet weather any car's a good car! I think you'll find most of the production value critics are parked in an armchair and the last time they used a camera it was a Box Brownie! Keep up the good work
Headlights don’t look too bad at all to be honest, but let’s see down some less well lit roads. The 360 camera is a welcome addition and personally I like the results.
When I order a take away delivery, I turn my porch light on to aid the driver, it also makes sure they can easily get to my door avoiding four legged trip hazards 😉
As an ex delivey driver, I used to travel with a 12v cigarette liter 1 million candle power search and rescue style torch for shining up to peoples doors to see their numbers. Brilliant job
After a long delivery shift my instinct would be to say "sod it" to the making of a RUclips video...fair play to you👍. Though the lights looked quite reasonable.
At least one delivery company use the "What Three Words" address app/ system. This can identify an address to 3(?) metres. Don't think only of delivery drivers think of emergency services. Should be compulsory. We also have out street number in a reflective material FACING TRAFFIC DIRECTION on gate post.
Yes a Bluetti EB3A would be very good with this car. It means you could charge it separately overnight and use it for extra things like extra fans and heaters, laptops etc.
I did one day as a courier in Nailsworth area years ago and finding Weaver's Cottage in Mill Street for example was impossible in the dark!! I got lost and almost couldn't turn the van around in the narrow lanes!! Fair play to you🤞🤞👍😄
The emergency services like white door numbers on a black background (and I bet delivery drivers do as well). Well done for sticking with the filming after such a long and difficult day. Very kind of you. Any range worries with all that running around in darkness and rain? Thanks again!
I always preferred black numbers/letters on a white background, but the important thing is high contrast, with the characters large enough to be seen when walking on the opposite path.
I guess sitting on the left side of the car for night-time driving is an improvement in terms of glare from on-coming traffic, I notice if I sit in a passenger seat I don't seem to be as affected as when sitting in the driving seat, some cars have very badly adjusted headlights & way too bright!
We have 6 number one,s in our road so we work on house names and numbers,no street lighting so pitch black. This damp weather is putting me off Ami the zs ev was toastie today Thanks interesting stuff
Loving the whirly camera thing, I wondered how you achieved that 360° effect. Lights look surprisingly good on the Ami. Think these videos seem to be helping you decompress after work, agree about house numbers, I remember from years of delivering newspapers what a nightmare it can be. Cheers, the post production efforts are appreciated.👍👏
Cold, blustery weather? Setting out for home in the dark, in the rain, tired, hungry, soaked to the skin and a hot, sweaty mess? Yep. Me too. Did it yesterday, did it today. I'll be doing it tomorrow, as well. Six miles out, six miles back. 🎵"The torture never stops". So I feel your pain, dear boy, but at least you're out of the wind and not having to pedal a bike and dodge White Van Man (or, nearer Christmas, 'Ocado of the Apes'). 😁 Regarding your address-identification difficulties: my house number is very easy to read at night: 4" high numerals in white, on a dark blue front door, repeated on the (dark oak) front gate. Clearly visible from 20 yards. Sadly, there's no need for it, because I can't afford to have anything delivered. If I could, I wouldn't need the bike.😞 Meanwhile, here's a steamy-window tip: my (late) dad used to have a Morris Oxford which had a feeble heater and fan, so the windscreen and side windows steamed up in duff weather until the engine had warmed up. We kept a DIY wiper handy; it was a piece of sponge the size of an eff-ay-gee packet wrapped in a piece of old-fashioned (real) chamois leather, attached to a stick about 18" long. It was great for clearing fogged-up windows whilst on the move.
Guilty re: door number. To make it worse our road has the house numbers in a bizarre order because houses have been built between Victorian times and last 15 years.
When top gear did their recent article including the ami, they went through a shopping centre and the shops within. Not an head turned, have you thought of doing the same. Perhaps a cinema or bus station 😁😁😁😁
I enjoyed the video and the Ami looks like a fun vehicle to drive! What made you take on the delivery driver job? Seems a long week if you have another full time job too! Having said that, I was working full time in my 30’s then working nightclub doors at the weekend when children arrived! Delivery is definitely a better option than door work 😳👍
@@ModernHeroes I totally get that 👍. Smart thinking, you are essentially getting paid to exercise! Thinking back, I was doing both jobs and 6 days a week in the gym too for at least 2 hours a session! No idea how I actually did it now 🤣. Looking at the Ami again, do you find the 28mph top speed a problem? I saw they tested one on Top Gear last week, I liked the look of the Carver trike too!
I thought the performance of the headlights were great? especially on wet roads which tend to absorb the light. Do they have dip and main beam facility?
Surprised you have not fitted a rear view mirror, having driven these many times, I work in the Sheerness distribution center, it's instinct to keep looking. Also very annoying when you open window fully in hot weather it Knocks your wing mirrors out of alignment.🤓
Spent so long driving vans that I barely notice. Agree on the door mirror alignment though! Are there still loads of them kicking around at Sheerness? 👀
Very rarely. Was a little different during my previous sentence when there were a lot of people who’d normally shop at Waitrose or Sainsbury’s who were taking whatever delivery slot they could get thanks to the huge COVID demand.
Maybe. A 10+ year old car with no warranty and a degrading battery won’t work for everyone though. I’m not sure there’s as much crossover between the two sets of customers as people seem to think.
@@ModernHeroes I spoken to the bloke who makes the power box for the twizzy, he said he's making one for ami so the 28mph problem and hills etc will be sorted. Look him up as I was thinking of a ami if he makes one.

When I was doing night visits as a GP I needed a bright torch for the same reason
@@parkview113 How big is it? The reason I recommended a mini-mag lite is it a much more convenient to handle a smaller torch whilst driving.
@@parkview113 Oh, that’d be too big. I’m talking about key ring sized. Thanks for the suggestion though

Ex-postman; ex-delivery driver in the 1970s; 'twas ever thus...
Enjoyed that one. That camera is quite amazing and gives professional quality footage.

@@stjohnssoup Yes, but it would not make much impact. I know the big brother does - Bluetti 2000. But you could use this for extra little things.

I'm enjoying these commuting videos :)
Those indicator repeaters on the dash are great
My house number is a glass panel over the door with inside illumination. My house is easy to see in the dark :-)
Great Video. At last I got to see what it's like driving the Ami at night and I was impressed.

Yes - you can open it from inside even when it’s locked though.
