There's a very solid powerstance build in the Zamor+Morgott's Cursed Sword. It's a great way to naturally get frost, bleed, and fire - frost buffs bleed, gets reset by bloodflame, then reprocs for absurd damage. You can guarantee the frost proc if you're against an enemy that has a safe window for Zamor Ice Storm, but if not, simply attacking with it to proc frost then popping bleed off Morgott's sword is good, and the second hit of bloodflame will cleanse the frost for a second proc. On the other hand, I guess you could infuse a different sword for Cold and use something like Hoarfrost then use Morgott for bleed. Statsticking the longest one you can get, I guess. Zamor's unique moves are good though.
Ive been looking for something to pair with BHF my whole first playtgrough and just got the Zamora curved sword and gonna try it. Thanks for the opinion cause other than a second BHF which I aint got to NG+yet aint heard much to pair with it.
I really want to like Morgotts Cursed Sword but 40FP for a 2-hit ash of war seems really steep. You would have to have something like 32 mind to be able to use it only 4 times before needing to drink a flask.
It's reallllyy shitty compared to something like Rivers of Blood which not only hits harder, but is FAR cheaper and faster L2 which does 2 hits instantly for the cost of 1 cast. They definitely had some serious Katana Bias in the game. But it's extremely satisfying to beat the Rivers spammers with a non katana weapon.
I think you are sleeping on the unique ability of the omen cleaver of having insane bleed without any investing in arcane. Powerstance omen cleaver with bloodhound fang and infuse it with bloodhound step and blood and you get insane mobility and over 150 bleed. Like you can build full quality, use blood grease to power up your weapons and get the most bang for your buck in both strength and dex while still being able to have a broken ash of war and more bleed than Morgot sword. The only downside is you don't get spells as you don't invest in arcane or faith, but honestly with that raw power and grease to infuse you really don't need them.
Basically what i run rn. Im trying something out with omen running frost and its giving 106 frost damage using one of the ice ash of wars. Power stancing w bloodhound fang and jump attacks is giving frostbite in about 3 hits or so and similarly w bleed
Having a very similar experience with powerstanced faith based infusions and my omen cleavers utterly outclassing most other options damage wise - it's not surprising that it wrecks with other infusions too. It just seems to take to infusions really, really well. I love this sword so much!
Zamor Curved Sword was my biggest disappointment I love the unique moveset, in concept But the R1 is just soooo slow to start that I couldn’t make it feel good :/
@@sharmist Couldn’t agree more Honestly, the Godslayer Greatsword is a good example of how to do it, with its fast unique R1 So they can get it right, it’s so weird
The last hit of the light attack 2h combo of Zamor is boosted for whatever reason. Does more damage than the other hits. With minimal requirements non upgraded, bloodfang did 475 r2 light attacks versus final hit with zamor for 534 on certain enemies I tested it on.
This actually helped me realize something for my current build, I'm a dragon mage and I didn't even know that giant talisman buffed dragon spells so more damage for me I guess...
You would think that the talisman that says "Buffs roars and breath attacks" would work on the incantations that are almost entirely breath attacks and have a roar... but nope. It buffs lots of worthless roar ash of wars and not a single breath attack in the game, unless it affects the crucible knight incant. It's likely broken, keep an eye out for patch notes that state they fixed the thing.
It's worth noting that in PvP, if you're spamming the Bloodhound Fang's weapon art, you will get parried. The wind up is just enough for a small shield parry to catch you just before the follow up.
Same thing on my first playthrough... I actually wish some of the end game stuff got buffed a bit, or the earlier ones nerfed slightly... I ran a mage on a new character, and it was the same thing with meteorite staff, you can get it at level one, and then it was only replaced when I finally had 60+ int and I was using Renallas Staff at +6 (or maybe it was +7 can't recall now)

I am so glad that the multiple secret properties of the omen cleaver's absolutely ridiculous 2 handed R2 aren't common knowledge. This weapon combines awesome range/utterly obscene faith damage with the single most effective moveset I've ever used and I really don't want to see a nerf! It's in the top 3 best weapons I've ever used in a souls game and possibly top 1. So please keep distracting people with the bloodhound's fang haha! PS this series is great. Very informative!
@@Snoopy813 I mean more damage than most colossal weapons when this monster of a weapon is infused with sacred or flame art. Notably, the amount of holy/flame elemental damage seems to be higher than just about anything else unless you start looking at, say, the brick hammer (or beastman cleaver, ever so slightly more damage but half the length). This sword is glorious
That's the Advantage about Quality-Builds. You can still use something like the Bloodhound-Fang very effectively. Even if you'd give it a keen Scaling.
I love these videos because it shows me the weapons movesets before I farm them for days, one annoying thing is that the warcry ashes or wars all change the charged R2's differently and I wish someone also showed that in the moveset showcase.
Wait ...... You can buff fang. Astonished I somehow forgot this. Curved Wolf art is by far one of the best arts imo & made all the more tragic by the dimensionless power move set
Should I use the only somber ancient dragon smithing stone I have so far on Bloodhound’s Fang? I feel like this is one of the best weapons in the game, simply because of it’s weapon art. Or should I wait for another weapon?
The onyx lords sword has hyper armor now in 1.10. I was playing with it today, I have no strength, 70 int and the weapon skill can be crazy in AOE. It does a small AOE pulling enemies in, and a big explosion that knocks everything down. It's great for dual world in offhand to pull out when necessary. It's worth trying out again, especially in those situations where you get swarmed. I have t gotten knocked out of the animation yet anywhere I've tried
**EDIT: just realized that MFB doesn’t NOT have a unique ash of war. The monks buff with black flame blade and go into what looks like swords dance** Monk flame blade definitely should’ve had the unique as of war 😭
Right?! In the monks hands it does some really cool flaming strikes. We can only hope they’ll patch it in, this seems like a big oversight with this weapon in particular.
There's a Flameblade Monk in the Divine Tower of Caelid, which is way easier to farm and you can get to it super early. He's right next to the lowest grace that's right before the Godskin Apostle, so you can run over, kill him, and repeat.
Hey man, really like these videos and appreciate all the effort that goes into them. If you can/want, make a video on the best axes. The normal ones not the great ones, very intrigued in using warped axe dual wield. Love your content! Keep up the great work man. Liked & Subscribed.
The reason morgott's aow costs so much is because the lingering double hit true combo is actually really powerful in pvp. it costs a little more than a full corpse piler combo, likely because of it's ability to stun. plus you're comparing 180 max bleed buildup with bloodhound's finesse plus bloodflame buff just to make it more even, to morgott's potential 240 (without bloodflame blade, finesse would only do 110 bleed). Maybe they could've gone down like 2 points but I honestly think morgott's is pretty balanced
I farmed two dismounters early and they carried me until I got the magma wyrm scaled sword. The wyrms sword I find when I am on the ground so many attacks whiff on me because of how low to the ground my character is. Curved greatswords weren't my first choice, but early in the first dual big weapons I could get
If anyone is interested in a different approach on the curved greatswords "Crightt" has a nice video on the topic, the final conclusion is similar other then the Beastman's cleaver due to it's weight. It's quite the good video but it's more data then gameplay.
I never really explored the zamor curved sword but i'll swap morgott's for it and see if the bleed(+buffed by bloodflame)+frost is better than the double bleed when both are paired with the bloodhound. I have a 70 dex so it should be interesting
Beastmans cleaver gotta be one of the coolest looking weapons in the game by a substantial margin. That things cool as fuck. Obviously a good weapon too
I know this is a list of only curved greatswords, but may i know your thoughts between magma wyrm scaleblade vs marais executioner? I have been playing pve online helping people but i have not have much luck with marais so far.
Powerstance flame infused Omen Cleavers (808 AR at +24) and rely on stance breaks through jumping attacks. For Steven there you can start with a jump attack immediately followed by ashes of war that do poise damage, such as the Flame of the Redmanes which will instantly break his poise, go for the crit, and if he's still alive depending on your stats and buffs then just give him a final tap. Interestingly the Omen Cleavers do not bounce off of Crystalians and break their poise just as quickly as actual maces would, paired with Flame of the Redmanes it just bullies them as long as it's a 1v1.
I love how curved greatswords feel in this game. I’ve been meaning to use them more. Thank you for the vid, this will be super helpful for choosing one or two.
If the wiki is right then the roar medallion doesn't work on dragon breath spells, and only really works on about 5 roar spells, but not all, not sure if bugged or just kinda bad.
I just got the Zamora great curved sword and played around with it without any upgrade. It stance broke for a critical everything with 1 L2. What the actual FCK this thing is God tier
For Strength PVP( level 50) Beastman has been the best for me, Dismounter is also decent. Both have good roll catch moveset, but I feel that Beastman is going to make more people panic roll cause hits harder.
Gonna look into beastmen's cleaver for pve, since I am running strength build, but I would have to stay with heavy dismounted for pvp since it is longer. Obviously being str using morgott is impossible and BF is not optimal
You seem to not differentiate between pure physical damage and split damage. Split damage looks higher bc it has to go through two layers of defences, which means that usually it'll end up being weaker than pure physical damage.
@@youwy like, when you say Magma Wyrm Scalesword being the second strongest bc of it 800 something AR. That AR is not the same as 800 pure physical AR, or at least, not as effective in practice. The reason the AR of split damage weapons in this game are much higher than their pure damage counterparts is that in Dks3 they made it so that split damage AR weapons have comparable AR to pure dmg weapons and it was a disaster. Split damage weapons were universally worse than pure damage weapons, and it was simply bc it had to go through TWO separate resistance stats which were the physical defence stat determined by level and another corresponding element res stat which was also determined by what stats you've levelled. That is ALL before bringing damage absorption into the equation, which FURTHER negatively impact split damage.
even comparing all the other weapons with the infusions which I went over in my chart section of the video it still outdamages everything. I already accounted for all of that when I made that comment
Idk bro, I’m power stancing 2 +10 Morgott’s cursed swords on my newest character, and this is the first time I’ve ever leveled arcane. I’m bleeding most enemies in two L1s. I get 88 bleed buildup per sword. I haven’t struggled with a single boss in NG+ and I’m almost to Radagon again. I expect Elden Beast will be my only NG+ challenge. They’re my favorite armaments in the whole game, and I’ve used almost everything at least once.
I really struggle to understand many decisions of From Software. In this case, the Monks FlameBlade- they put ONE FREAKING ENEMY (as far as i know) that drops it, making it extremely rare and hard to get. And what it is? A completely ordinary curved sword that has nothing going for it. Nothing unique, no good damage, nothing. Why, WHY would you put an effort to desigining it, making a separate enemy type, with separate moveset, just for this.
Why the Monk’s Flameblade doesn’t do fire damage is beyond me. Sure you can add fire affinity but it should just do base fire damage. Would power stance with Magma Wyrm Scalesword very well.
wish they'd add one that had innate bloodloss that could also be infused with ashes of war like the flamberge :/ it's the sole reason i stick with greatswords and not their curved cousins
Just dont get the complaining about being able to buff BHF. Seems more like the others should be able to be buffed, not nerfing the other. If the other weapons arent performing so well doesnt that kinda point to a problem with them being underwhelming more? Anytime someone says to nerf something like this (over and over and over) when there are far more overwhelming wraps like RoB just seems like personal nitpicking.
no they shouldnt make the bloodhound fang un-buffable, they should make more weapons buffable IMHO
i dig your videos by the way, keep it up.

U make by far the best elden ring content without doing massive clickbait like other channels do.
Love ur videos man!! Im subscribed.
Zamor Curved Sword was my biggest disappointment
I love the unique moveset, in concept
But the R1 is just soooo slow to start that I couldn’t make it feel good :/
Special weapons like this really need an overhaul. I WANT to love it but it just sucks.
@@sharmist Couldn’t agree more
Honestly, the Godslayer Greatsword is a good example of how to do it, with its fast unique R1
So they can get it right, it’s so weird
The r2's are faster then the r1's. R1 to roll catch enemies.
The last hit of the light attack 2h combo of Zamor is boosted for whatever reason. Does more damage than the other hits.
With minimal requirements non upgraded, bloodfang did 475 r2 light attacks versus final hit with zamor for 534 on certain enemies I tested it on.
I am playing niw, 80 hours in tge game and mostly i have been using the blood hound curve sword.
I like the skill attack, it is awesone.
This actually helped me realize something for my current build, I'm a dragon mage and I didn't even know that giant talisman buffed dragon spells so more damage for me I guess...
It's kind of upsetting how not intuitive these items are or maybe we can't read probably that.
@@CassieCarryd it's a mistranslation (I believe it supposed to say "buffs shout enhanced attacks)
Use howl of shabriri. Increases all attacks and spells by 20%. You're welcome.
@@usnfindley that’s greyolls’s howl. shabiri’s howl builds up madness
Which should I review next?
Twinblades if possible
Twinblades!! Powerstance jump attacks are fun as hell
Greataxes pls
Armors? idk xD
Claws and fist weapons. Unga bunga
My boy actually rocking the bloodhound fang and morgotts cursed sword combo, I feel vindicated for choosing that as my build.
Same.
It's worth noting that in PvP, if you're spamming the Bloodhound Fang's weapon art, you will get parried. The wind up is just enough for a small shield parry to catch you just before the follow up.
Omen Cleaver is #1 purely for the look. Simplicity in design, with a damascus finish.
been using the bloodhounds fang since VERY early on and it is neat to see it is ranked as the best in class.
Bloodhounds fang carried me all game had to force myself to use other weapons because it got boring using the same sword all game lol
Same thing on my first playthrough... I actually wish some of the end game stuff got buffed a bit, or the earlier ones nerfed slightly... I ran a mage on a new character, and it was the same thing with meteorite staff, you can get it at level one, and then it was only replaced when I finally had 60+ int and I was using Renallas Staff at +6 (or maybe it was +7 can't recall now)
@@orkwc3 you get that stuff for pvp, you can do pve with anything it doesnt really matter
Before i get there comment! Curious to what you have to say about the firemonk cgs and zamor cgs! As usual, instant like. Love your content and cant wait for you to get even bigger
I love all of your videos looking forward to more. I appreciate the detail I also love the ashes of war video series you started. Please keep it up I definitely subscribed.
Wdym faith damage
@@Snoopy813 I mean more damage than most colossal weapons when this monster of a weapon is infused with sacred or flame art. Notably, the amount of holy/flame elemental damage seems to be higher than just about anything else unless you start looking at, say, the brick hammer (or beastman cleaver, ever so slightly more damage but half the length). This sword is glorious
You're doing great buddy, keep it up
man i love how fucking cool all of these swords look, just visually
That's the Advantage about Quality-Builds. You can still use something like the Bloodhound-Fang very effectively. Even if you'd give it a keen Scaling.
All my life I thought that curved great swords are faster than just greatswords. My world understanding is broken
don’t trust him, the link doesn’t work
Axes / Hammers next if possible!
Big fan of the classic greataxe
I love these videos because it shows me the weapons movesets before I farm them for days, one annoying thing is that the warcry ashes or wars all change the charged R2's differently and I wish someone also showed that in the moveset showcase.
I love this comment section sm, just a bunch of players helping each other on what builds work best and what they use.
Honestly you can't go wrong with BF. If you enjoy that moveset and playstyle go for it!
@@AscendedWalrus appreciate it
Monks Flameblade should have been better for how you can only get it from the giant mountain.
Can you not get it from the one in caelid tower basement, before the godskin apostle
@@joesheridan9451 I was wondering the same thing, that farming spot is super efficient if you can
@@joesheridan9451 nope
The onyx lords sword has hyper armor now in 1.10. I was playing with it today, I have no strength, 70 int and the weapon skill can be crazy in AOE. It does a small AOE pulling enemies in, and a big explosion that knocks everything down.
It's great for dual world in offhand to pull out when necessary. It's worth trying out again, especially in those situations where you get swarmed. I have t gotten knocked out of the animation yet anywhere I've tried
**EDIT: just realized that MFB doesn’t NOT have a unique ash of war. The monks buff with black flame blade and go into what looks like swords dance**
Monk flame blade definitely should’ve had the unique as of war 😭
Right?! In the monks hands it does some really cool flaming strikes. We can only hope they’ll patch it in, this seems like a big oversight with this weapon in particular.
And be stronger
@@joshmay2944 They would have to make a separate version for the black flame so that might be why they didn’t.
Between the Dismounter, Omen Cleaver and Beastman Cleaver, which of them is the longest?
There's a Flameblade Monk in the Divine Tower of Caelid, which is way easier to farm and you can get to it super early. He's right next to the lowest grace that's right before the Godskin Apostle, so you can run over, kill him, and repeat.
Oh MAN I wish I knew that weeks ago. Thank you
Nope. Doesn't drop from there despite the enemy using that weapon. I've farmed him for the armor for several characters, never seen the weapon drop.
That enemy doesn't drop it
You do great videos... Just need to keep comments to yourself about what needs to be nurfed
What I heard was use Zamor's , bc the ash of war looks cool and the weapon and armor set is just good looking , Souls approved rating
Could you please do daggers next and maybe put in a section testing crit damage?
Beastman's Cleaver just seems so badass
Yes and you can get it to 900+ damage points with a very small amount of buffs
The one I’ve been waiting for
We have enough bleed weapons but I'm surprised the flame curved sword doesn't have bleed. It's all jagged you think it would
Can't wait for fist weapon!! Thx you for informative vid.
Man you're a legend.
Nice video bro, that build is kinda nuts! I'll try it :D.
I love how curved greatswords feel in this game. I’ve been meaning to use them more. Thank you for the vid, this will be super helpful for choosing one or two.
Does roar medallion really add anything? Think it only works on things like war cry and trolls roar but maybe patched.
Buff Monk's Flameblade
If the wiki is right then the roar medallion doesn't work on dragon breath spells, and only really works on about 5 roar spells, but not all, not sure if bugged or just kinda bad.
I just got the Zamora great curved sword and played around with it without any upgrade. It stance broke for a critical everything with 1 L2. What the actual FCK this thing is God tier
Awesome thanks! Keep up the great work
this is the one I've been waiting for. =D
Great video as always.
i read some people saying that the roar talisman doesn't benefit dragonbreath incantations, was that a mistake of people or fixed?
omen cleaver is the best for bleed build though. Once its blood infused its got the highest DPS and its got more range than beastman cleaver
For Strength PVP( level 50) Beastman has been the best for me, Dismounter is also decent. Both have good roll catch moveset, but I feel that Beastman is going to make more people panic roll cause hits harder.
Wouldn't white mask add to it as well?
Gonna look into beastmen's cleaver for pve, since I am running strength build, but I would have to stay with heavy dismounted for pvp since it is longer. Obviously being str using morgott is impossible and BF is not optimal
You seem to not differentiate between pure physical damage and split damage. Split damage looks higher bc it has to go through two layers of defences, which means that usually it'll end up being weaker than pure physical damage.
I have them divided by infusions. Where am I mixing up numbers for split and pure physical?
@@youwy even in pvp?
@@hisholiness4537 Is it confirmed that defences definitely work the exact same way in elden ring? Zero tweaks?
Looking forward to magic breakdown xD
Idk bro, I’m power stancing 2 +10 Morgott’s cursed swords on my newest character, and this is the first time I’ve ever leveled arcane. I’m bleeding most enemies in two L1s. I get 88 bleed buildup per sword. I haven’t struggled with a single boss in NG+ and I’m almost to Radagon again.
I expect Elden Beast will be my only NG+ challenge.
They’re my favorite armaments in the whole game, and I’ve used almost everything at least once.
great series
Because lorewise it's literally a metal weapon with barely any magic-esq parts?
Bloodhound fang is not good in pvp?
regarding your build at the end of the video, unfortunately the roar medallion doesn't effect breath incantations, only weapon skills
Great vid
Would love a video on Spears if it hasn't already been done!
Great job btw.
I'm using bloodhound fang and omen cleaver (not infused yet, prob going for qual) and I'm 40/40
Got a quality build with zweihander and bloodhound fang as the main options. Not really too many other good weapons to go for sadly.
Bloodhound is probably the best pure quality weapon in the game. The c and b scaling go a long way. High base damage too.
what armor is that?
Kinda sad not seeing the Murakumo it's been hands down the best looking curved great sword in the history of Solusborne games.
Dismounter replaced it
I can’t make up my mind of what weapon to use lol. I spend all day upgrading different weapons to try them out. Trying to get away from rivers.
Does anyone know if you can get the Monk’s flameblade from the black flame monk in the basement of the caelid tower?
I really wanna see the axes and greataxes
Roar medallion doesn't boost the dragon breaths sorry to break it to you
magma scale sword does the most damage for me and i have tried so many weapons i think its the B in strength and faith,
wish they'd add one that had innate bloodloss that could also be infused with ashes of war like the flamberge :/ it's the sole reason i stick with greatswords and not their curved cousins
Why would you not make a flame art ranking? It's literally the better of the fire affinities lmao
Just dont get the complaining about being able to buff BHF. Seems more like the others should be able to be buffed, not nerfing the other. If the other weapons arent performing so well doesnt that kinda point to a problem with them being underwhelming more?
Anytime someone says to nerf something like this (over and over and over) when there are far more overwhelming wraps like RoB just seems like personal nitpicking.
sadly the Roar Medallion does not work with dragon spells
