I don't have the DTS/DTSC, but I do have the ETSC. While the lower price tag of the corded only model could be a consideration, the flexibility of the cordless model was why I went with it over the corded. I like the freedom to quickly grab the sander to do a quick sand or if I have a longer sanding session I could spend a bit of extra time to hook up the vac and Plug-it cord and use the sander that way. Since Festool has a few kit options you are able to pick if you want to start cordless, corded, or both.

I agree. Having both options available offers a great deal of flexibility for the consumer.

I have ro90 brilliant sander great for stairs detail work and polishing I would say ro90 world's most versatile sander.

From what I have seen regarding the sander I would have to say you could be right.

Nice sander, it should serve you well.
I don't have the DTS 400. I do have RO90 and the RTS 400, both are reliable sanders.
My first RTS 400 ran for 10 years before giving up the ghost. I replaced it with another RTS.
A couple of months later, I pulled the trigger on a Mirka Deros 150/5.
If I'd owned the Mirka before replacing the RTS, I think I'd have more seriously considered replacing the RTS with the Mirka Deos. At the time, though, I immediately dismissed it because it's twice the price of the RTS.
    Thanks for the vid.

The Mirka is a different class sander right. I Googled it. The image that came up looks similar to the Festool ETS sanders.
I am glad to hear that you got a long life out the the sander I hope to have the same experience.

I was very tempted by these sets. I have the RTS 400 already and like it a lot.
I have to say though, the second Festool releases new versions of the RTS/DTS 400 that are burhsless and have a similar form factor to the ETS EC sanders, I'll be buying those day one.
    Thanks for the overview!

I picked up the set since it gives you the starter abrasive set. It seemed reasonable at the time.

You said you were looking at the ro90 as well. What was your deciding factor on your final choice. I am somewhat in the middle of trying to figure out which way to go myself. I was leaning more towards the ro90. Thinking for the rails and stiles and face frames on cabinets it would be a good choice. I am running the 150/3 right now as my primary and thinking about purchasing a smaller detail sander for fine finishing work. I appreciate your prospective as a novice due to I am one myself.

The RO 90 is more versatile, that's the one I'd go for.

For projects I would go with the RO 90. Since I am trying to get better at RUclips as well I went with the DTS and another tool so that I can do two unboxings as opposed to one. Sometimes it is challenging trying to juggle all these different but intertrwined skill sets. I need to practice my wood working but I also need to practice my video making.
The RO 90 would be more versitile in the work shop. The DTS checks one box but also sets up a couple of videos that I have in mind.
