Lovely, ethereal beach and thank God the Seals and their Pups are safe there! Thank you Lucy, haven't finished watching, just wanted to say that before continuing on with you!
Lucy, thank you so much for this beautiful adventure, I love the towns, the views and the waterfall (mysterious indeed). Take care of your knees, those stairs were slippery and steep, too much. Receive a big hug from Montevideo.
They really were! I didn't think it would be that steep as it said it was the "easy" route. A very kind fella from Liverpool helped me when I was stooped over a railing - such a drama queen 😂
Thank you, I was a bit nervous about this one as it was a bit of travel as well as the history but I tried to weave it in. I really enjoyed taking you along.
What a lovely trip. I personally prefer the rainy, misty atmosphere. Very magical. I’ve been wanting to visit Wales for a long time. One of my favorite books takes place partly in medieval Wales during the boarder wars-Lady of Hay by Barbara Erskine. I also love to watch the various BBC farm series and two of them take place in Wales- Tales from the Green Valley and Edwardian Farm. Wonderful cultural history and mythology. That Devil’s Bridge was gorgeous. I bet that place was sacred once upon a time to the people in that area. Thank you for taking us along on this beautiful journey.
You hit the nail on the head, there is just something so mystical about Wales, it definitely feels closer to the land and old cultures than here in England. I love watching all those kind of programmes too, I feel so privileged I am having a go at making my own, feel like watching a bit of Edwardian Farm now - I love Ruth!!! x
Lucy!!! You have NO idea how much ive enjoyed this video! Ive been to all these places, Devils Bridge is amazing isnt it! We are off to Wales on the 21st. We are staying near Portmerian. Cant wait to smell the sea air xx
The sea in Wales smells SO GOOD too doesn't it? Like no where else! I grew up spending lots of time in Mid Wales, My extended family owned property in Cwmbelan, a small village between Llandiloes and Llanguric, So a little further North than where you are familiar with, we used to go cockling at Ynyslas, buy Crabs at Aberwystyth, rockpooling at borth, fishing at our secret spot on the river Dulas, walking, or on just playing in the Brook at the bottom of the Garden, I was in North Wales all last week, we didn't get any further south than Aberdyfi though. I introduced my father/mother in law to Wales a few years ago after they moved up to the west midlands from London, they fell in love with the place. Havn't been to mid wales since leaving and coming back from Australia so about 15 years, I will have to put that right next year.
It's beautiful isn't it. My Dads brothers moved to New Quay in the early 80s and then many others followed. As a child I was so envious of the freedom compared to my city life, I love to return snd even though some things have changed the feeling of freedom and fresh air never gets old xx

Well Lucy you have done it again, another super video. I have to tell you that Wales is my favourite place in the whole wide world, such beauty and so awe inspiring. I respect the Welsh for their formidable past, you only have to look at the roads and bridges and castles to see they were hard grafters. Thank you for taking us on another great road trip 🥰
Absolutely! And I always think it must have been hard hard hard living there too, but absolutely worth fighting for! There's just beautiful things around every corner - and I don't mind saying I've never had a bad meal in Wales either!
So beautiful. Its funny you mentioned Indonesia. When I saw the pano view of the water and bay it almost looked tropical. Thank you for taking us along.
How gorgeous! I've been to South Wales and I've stayed in North Wales, but have never visited Mid Wales. That beach is stunning, and exactly the sort of unspoiled place I like; and New Quay looks lovely, too. Also Aberystwyth looks a lot nicer than I'd imagined it, knowing it's a university town (not sure why I'd imagined it not being as nice as it looks, but I did!). I enjoyed looking around with you, and especially at the scenery - thank you!
Funnily enough I asked my Mom why we never went to Aber and she said she didn't think it was very nice - but now she wants to go now too 😂 it's really beautiful, a bit tougher to get to than other parts of Wales - lots of country driving and up and down mountains but it's really worth it!
Yes to watching mudlarking =-) I named my first son Dylan, mainly as I love the name but Dylan Thomas was in the mix as well. =-) Thanks for the trip Lucy, what a fantastic place to roam around. Hope your knee has recovered.
That's lovely!!!! And yes, mudlarking is fascinating! My husband thinks it's absolutely hilarious but between us it was him that spotted the tile so even though he takes the mick he's taking note really!!
@@throughlucyslensI'm not going 😅 anywhere. My mum came to visit from Australia 🦘🇦🇺and I am at Gatwick with her overnight as she flies home tomorrow. Wonderful 😊 about South Wales 🏴😊 - I can give you some tips on places to go. I live near Pontypridd.
Oh no!!!!! Oh god I get so sad at airports seeing people off, I'm that one stood crying 😂 I hope she has a safe flight home and I'm always up for tips of places to go - nothing better than local knowledge.
I can cry 😢😭 too at times. Airports are emotional 🧡 places. No worries 😁 and I would recommend the Ponty Museum, Ponty Market and a stroll through Ponty park also known as Ynysangharad War Memorial Park 🏞️ Ponty train station has plenty of history and lovely features. It isn't the most appealing station 🚉 but I think you will like it still. If you like walks then I can provide a few places. Food wise in Ponty I recommend Zucco's. Restaurant wise there is The Blueberry Hotel, Casa Bianca or Rustico. There are plenty of charity shops and my fav's are St David's Hospice and Age Cyrmu which are basically next door to each other. If you drink then Tipsy Owl which has a speak easy vibe is nice too 😉

Thanks Linda, I am glad you enjoyed it, I was nervous as it was a bit different to everything else but it was too lovely not to take you along. Today has been lovely, I have had the day off work so taken Rupert for a massive walk along the Lickey Hills and he is now snoozing on my feet while I watch old Pathe News Reports - my idea of bliss! haha x
@@throughlucyslens Northumberland you will be going to??? Yippee ya whoooo!! I’ve been a huge fan of author Ann Cleeves for years, even before her books were turned into TV Series. Sounds like a fun day, watching old Pathe news reports. The photo of Rupert you posted is sooooo adorable! Any chance you will be doing a piece on Birminghams Walk of Stars? This too intrigues me! Stay curious Lucy, your subscribers benefit immensely from this!!! 💕Linda ox🇺🇸
That’s the Wales I love. A bit too much rain there this year, but it is beautiful. I didn’t realise Dylan Thomas spent time in Newquay.. I have visited his home in Laugharne (right spelling?) which was lovely. Haven’t been to Aberystwyth this year but like most Welsh towns they don’t change much, which is why I love it. I admire you for travelling to these places by yourself and giving your subbies an insight into the past and present.
I love going, it's been so liberating to just go and do what I want, I don't always travel alone, sometimes my Mom is with me, sometimes my husband, sometimes just Rupert and then most the time it's just me. I love Wales too - I agree it's a bit of a time capsule, I was absolutely gutted when the Milk Bar closed in Welshpool! That had been there forever!
Beautiful isn't it? I honestly wasn't going to make a video, I was there for a bit of R&R after a busy, stressful summer but it seemed to lovely not to share x
Great work Lucy! Those steps would be hard slog, but wow! Wales is wild! I’ve never been, but would really love to. Your camp pod looked lovely and cosy (I wonder if I could build one in my back yard..) Thanks for the mini tour of Wales, it’s so interesting and rugged looking there. You’re looking well too.
Thank you, I've been so stressed lately and it was just what I needed. The pod is lovely - I was worried about having to walk through the dark to the loo but it was an adventure and nothing a good torch couldn't handle. I don't see why you couldn't build one - imagine the sleep overs! People would be always wanting to stay over! haha
I think it's so beautiful though, always blows my mind how quickly the weather can blow in and out off the Irish Sea, the dolphin boats were going out but I wasn't brave enough! Here in Birmingham it's been muggy and grim all summer, I'm looking forward to the autumn crisp! X
@@throughlucyslens I’m glad the weather was nice for you in Aberystwyth, the view from the top isn’t so good when it’s misty! 😂 Not sure if you had time for the museum, but if not it’s well worth a visit if you visit again. And Devil’s bridge is on the edge of the Welsh rainforest, which is probably why it had a tropical jungle vibe.
Hi Lucy, it's brilliant to have you back ! Wales is a lovely country, but I havn't been there since 1975. I remember one holiday with my parents, where we toured round central Wales, staying in B&Bs, and visiting umpteen ruined Castles ! My last holiday was to Aberbeeg - South Wales, where I stayed with my best friends Aunt. she lived in an old mining cottage, with a river at the bottom of the garden, and an outside Loo ! Ypou found some beautiful places, and even with the mist, such beauty. Thanks for taking us along with you - good to see a glimps of Rupert too. Looking forward to your next adventure. Take special care 🙂 X X
Oh my goodness! We stayed in an old ramshackle cottage in Betsy coed with an outdoor loo too! My mom found it in the back of the paper and let's say it was false advertising 😂 all these things make great memories though don't they! Even if at the time all you can remember is being scared of the spiders in the loo!
Hi Lucy, lovely video, 😢 when we stayed at a holiday caravan site with entertainment for the dhildren. Evening drinks and more fun, which my little girl was keen to join in. Her big brother few weeks before starting infant school preferred to sit and watch. This was at New Quay, we went on a steam train ride into the interior. Also we had a day out going up to Harlech Castle. We didn't visit the cove you have just shown. I look forward to your next video. We never went back to Wales.
I wonder if you stayed at Quay West - that was a park that always had good entertainment, we didn't always stay there but when we did we loved it. I am glad it brought some happy memories for you, it's a lovely area of the world isn't it ?
Love a sea mist 👍😀 Both of my sons keep trying to get me to move to Wales. 😂 One has friends who live that way and my other sons wife's family live on Chester/Wales border and they are often holidaying in Wales on short breaks. I've only ever been to The Great Orme and Llandudno, which was great and another place but I forget what it was called. We shall have to explore more!
My family are always encouraging me to move away from the city, I think I might struggle though as I'm used to having everything when I need it 24/7 .. wales is utterly beautiful though and there's so much more I need to explore x
A few years ago we went for a trip across the middle of Wales it was great scenery Postman Pat land nobody about I said the same as you underrated nice and quiet thanks Lucy.
Nice and KNEEZY going up those steps(that LAZY jacket)! A lot of the income for Aberystwyth is the uni. students as some of the town would be desolate(the Winter)! Wonder if Dylan Thomas remembered his stay in Newquay for that year, much time on the Brahms and Liszt ! Could say 'peace for the wicked' Lucy - good getaway! See any 20mph signs on the kerbs?
I don't think I saw any on kerbs but I saw PLENTY IS 20 all over the place 🤣🤣 sometimes there was no reason for it - in the middle of a desolate field - I guess there might be some school somewhere hidden! It was a wonderful trip, wasn't meant to be filming but it was too gorgeous to miss!
Congratulations for this amazing video, Lucy. And I really appreciated that you included the map. I felt as if I were there, in that mystical, eerie place. In the 19th century thousands of migrants came to Argentina, Welsh among others. The 150first ones arrived in 1865. Tens of thousands followed. Welsh mostly went to the province of Chubut, in Patagonia. They had Hard times, difficult weather, Hard work. But by the first decades of the 20th centra they had overcome those hardships and did really well. Nowadays many of the villages that they founded, like Gayman, Trevelin, etc, are visited by tourists from all over the World. They have beautiful tea houses. And have managed to keep their language alive. In 1995 Princess Diana came to see the whales and had tea in Gayman. I'm a fan of your channel. Thank you so much, Lucy
Yes!! I had heard the connection between the Welsh language and Argentina but now I know the context! Thank you, How interesting!! I would love to visit those places so much x
Hey Lucy, always look forward to your adventures - hope this'll be as good as the rest. If you're a newbie, check in and see her other videos - they are truly amazing.
It's such a beautiful place isn't it, so relaxed and easy and even though they are invaded every summer with tourists nowhere ever feels busy or overwhelming. Very special place x
Thanks again for another interesting video Lucy. I love a moody view so enjoyed the rainy coastline in Wales. We have a cliff railway in my town in Wellington New Zealand, although we call it a cable car. It opened in 1902 and is very similar to the one you went on. It also has a cafe at the top but commuters use it as well as tourists to get to and from the city.
This is so interesting because I hear Wales and New Zealand compared to one another favourably all the time, My Mom was lucky enough to visit and she said "it was so much like Wales" - green, lush and friendly people.
@@throughlucyslens Yes! That lush waterfall reminded me of waterfalls in the central North Island although minus the medieval bridge. I get moody mists on the coast where I live too.
I've never been to Wales. It looks lovely and very Victorian. I would probably prefer to go when it's a bit bleak and miserable, whether thats a reflection of me these days I don't know, but I don't like the crowds of summer. That funicular railway is fantastic, beats Scarborough hands down.
Wales has an atmosphere all of its own - and I prefer it misty and mysterious too. I am also crowd adverse! You can't take things in when you are surrounded by lots of people x
Ive started to plan a trip to go down there (very loose itinerary, hubby and i both prefer just like having a rough idea of places to go and are not city fans [too many people lol]). The only place we def have to go is a cool looking ice cream place 🤪 we are fine just looking at the gorgeous landscape/beaches 😃
Loose itinerary's are the way to go, I never really plan anything. Just a vague area to drive around and see what happens 😂 the good news is you'll never find too many people in mid wales. Even in the middle of the week it's so quiet compared to what I am used to here. Which icecream place is it? There used to be loads of milk bars in wales, they were amazing, sadly all gone now 🥹
@@throughlucyslens Good lord no - I enjoy seeing you as you are, hearing as you are and assume you at least employ fickle sticks. (completely made up, fickle-sticks are employed by the portrayed medievil manuscripts whereby herbs and spices are - can we leave it there?)
They're in Wales - and a night's stay is free of charge where else do you get that(just replenish a couple of t-bags in the box), take a Do Not disturb sign(joke)!
Great ambience at that beach. De-stressing. Can't make the letters on the signs match the local pronunciations though. Great history to explore. Thanks❤
Welsh is so difficult! I only know some correct pronunciation because of being there so much and hearing it. It's a wonderful place and I barely scratched the surface x

Thank you so much! I had an xray on it Monday so hopefully it will show what's going on and I can move forward and get it healed - you don't take your mobility for granted until it starts to mess up! Xx
I don't think I did, I would LOVE to sleep in one though, I have a good friend that does a lot of walking and she often uses them to rest - I didn't know there were any in Wales, in my head they were something I associated more with Scotland.
I love a rainy beach better than a sunny one 😊
Me too - so atmospheric isn't it - the salty water on your face, and you can't complain about getting wet at a beach - it's part of the fun!

Absolutely! And I always think it must have been hard hard hard living there too, but absolutely worth fighting for! There's just beautiful things around every corner - and I don't mind saying I've never had a bad meal in Wales either!
Devils bridge is stunning❤❤❤
Sensational isn't it ?
Great to see you in my country 😊🏴 we do have some stunning bits 😊❤
You really really do - around every corner!!! Not to mention as soon as you go over the boarder there's less pot holes in the road ;)
So beautiful. Its funny you mentioned Indonesia. When I saw the pano view of the water and bay it almost looked tropical. Thank you for taking us along.
Lovely to have you with me - it does look tropical doesn't it? A local subscriber has told me they actually call the Welsh Rainforest - how cool!
@@throughlucyslens that makes a lot of sense. Thank you!! You make wonderful content. You are talented and kind! Keep going
@@anonfornow359 Thank you, means a hell of a lot I tell you xx
Hi Lucy, A lovely video. Thanks again for taking me and others on another journey 😊
Thanks for coming to lovely Wales with me, missing it already x
Beautiful. Thank for this. Somehow I am 6 years old again!
I understand that, there's something so nostalgic about being in Wales, like time has stopped in a lot of places - and I am all for that.
😊😊😊
I'm on the coach to Gatwick 🚌
Great 😃 to see Mid Wales 🏴 featured 😊
I'm based in South Wales 🏴
Ohhh where are you going nice? South wales is next on my Welsh list so I'll be there soon!! 🥰
No worries 😁 and I would recommend the Ponty Museum, Ponty Market and a stroll through Ponty park also known as Ynysangharad War Memorial Park 🏞️
Ponty train station has plenty of history and lovely features.
If you drink then Tipsy Owl which has a speak easy vibe is nice too 😉
Newquay is one of my favourite places.
YES! It's magical! ❤️
Lucy, that was a wonderful adventure! More please, I’ve never been to Wales, it’s so lush!I hope you got your car repairs sorted and you are able to wake up happy and worry free in Birmingham on Monday morning. Have a lovely week, can’t wait to see where I will be traveling with you next week! 💕Linda ox🇺🇸
Vera, Shetland etc, really really captivating stories! The mystical foggy weather and the coastline is INCREDIBLE! Film away Lucy, I’m confident you will do an incredible presentation of the area!
Looks lovely anyway despite the weather. Thank you for sharing.
It was gorgeous, the weather just adds to the adventure :)
Gorgeous landscapes. Thank you for sharing. Very atmospheric x
Beautiful isn't it? I honestly wasn't going to make a video, I was there for a bit of R&R after a busy, stressful summer but it seemed to lovely not to share x
@@throughlucyslensthank you for taking time to do a video and I hope you did get some you time as well 😊 xx
Lucy you are my type of person very interested in history. So glad I found your vlog well done x
Oh thank you so much, that's lovely of you to say! Yes, absolutely, I love the find the history everywhere when I can :)
Great work Lucy!
Those steps would be hard slog, but wow! Wales is wild!
I’ve never been, but would really love to. Your camp pod looked lovely and cosy (I wonder if I could build one in my back yard..)
Thanks for the mini tour of Wales, it’s so interesting and rugged looking there.
People would be always wanting to stay over! haha
Honestly, this is how the weather has been for most of the summer here in Ceredigion. The odd sunny day, but mostly wet and misty.
Not sure if you had time for the museum, but if not it’s well worth a visit if you visit again.
And Devil’s bridge is on the edge of the Welsh rainforest, which is probably why it had a tropical jungle vibe.
It was stunning! It felt tropical and otherworldly, we are so lucky to have it.
Lucy the legend. I think that's a good monica. Bravo Micheal!
You're the best x
Hi Lucy great to see you again😊thank you for sharing more adventures to come 😂
Nice to hear from you too! Thanks for coming along x
Love a sea mist 👍😀
Both of my sons keep trying to get me to move to Wales.
Brilliant. Thank you. ❤
Lovely for you to come along. Thank YOU!
😍👍💚
Thanks Dax x
A few years ago we went for a trip across the middle of Wales it was great scenery Postman Pat land nobody about I said the same as you underrated nice and quiet thanks Lucy.
Absolutely, you feel like you are the only people there and you can't fail but become relaxed - love that postman pat land!
Beautiful! I would like to go traveling in Wales one day. I don't mind rain and fog, and so far, my knees are in good nick.
It's a beautiful place and I think the weather makes it more mysterious! You would love it (can I have your knees please? 😂)
@@throughlucyslens 😅
Thank you,
How interesting!! I would love to visit those places so much x
Croeso! Such a beautiful video. Loved watching this video, it was absolutely beautiful. Next time come to Pembrokeshire and call in for a cuppa! ❤
Will do! I absolutely love love love Wales!! ❤️
@throughlucyslens ❤️
Hey Lucy, always look forward to your adventures - hope this'll be as good as the rest. If you're a newbie, check in and see her other videos - they are truly amazing.
Thanks so much James, I hope you enjoyed this one, something a bit different; I wasn't going to film but it's so gorgeous why not show it off? 🥰
I love wales, ever since my children were little we have gone to Llandudno for Easter, we’d go all over, good memories
It's such a beautiful place isn't it, so relaxed and easy and even though they are invaded every summer with tourists nowhere ever feels busy or overwhelming. Very special place x
Welcome back Lucy. This video was worth the wait! I love how you take us along on your adventures. ❤
Thank you, I'm glad to have you with me! It's more fun when you have companions, even digitally x
❤
Absolutely lush what a view x
Amazing isn't it - lush is definately the word!
@@throughlucyslens I've never been to the coast just Blackwood and Abergaveny x
I think I've been to Abergavenny - one of the nicest words ever to say 😂
You have a gorgeous voice Lucy xx
Oh bless you, thanks a lot. Never something I've considered about myself but I'll take it :)
what a nice place
It's lovely isn't it! Good to hear from you! X
@@throughlucyslens i am humbled you remember me i promise i wont go far this time x
There used to be loads of milk bars in wales, they were amazing, sadly all gone now 🥹
Thank you for the interesting tour Lucy can you tell us the cost of staying in the pods ps I hope your knee recovers 🥰xxxx
Hi Wendy, it was about £60 - if you contact them directly you get a better price, really lovely people and family owned farm x
I understand fair girls’ tanning goals-“lose the blue tinge” and “don’t blind people with the white dazzle”!
Hahaha, yes my aim is not to look so transparent!!!
Sounds amazing - and my ears pricked up at free 😂😂😂
Great ambience at that beach. De-stressing. Can't make the letters on the signs match the local pronunciations though. Great history to explore. Thanks❤
Welsh is so difficult! I only know some correct pronunciation because of being there so much and hearing it. It's a wonderful place and I barely scratched the surface x
Eeee been saving this all day to wind down this evening before work tomorrow.
Is this near your new gaff? Fantastically atmospheric
Two of my really good friends went to uni in Aberystwyth 💜
One of my pals went to Aberystwyth too! I didn't realise what a lovely place it was ... still living in Birmingham, can't imagine moving any time soon but loving getting out further afield x

Hi Heather, things are getting a little better. I am so glad to be back out there doing what I love again, I HATED not having the time or resources to do it.
❤What an excellent video! So much beauty, gorgeous sunshine 🎉 & cute little camping pods...as well as a very pretty Lucy in her pink top (of which, please forgive me, I immensely dislike the writing, as you most certainly are not what it says!). I really enjoyed that but please please please do not damage yourself more, it is not worth it imnsho!
Thank you so much! I had an xray on it Monday so hopefully it will show what's going on and I can move forward and get it healed - you don't take your mobility for granted until it starts to mess up! Xx
20 mph signs -a few demo' jobs on them near to me ! Did you see any bothies(do you know what they are)?
I don't think I did, I would LOVE to sleep in one though, I have a good friend that does a lot of walking and she often uses them to rest - I didn't know there were any in Wales, in my head they were something I associated more with Scotland.
