They can get rabies. There have been documented cases of it. But its extremely unlikely. I think it was 2019 or 2021, there were only 2 opossums that were discovered to have rabies. About 2% of the study
They’re aren’t aggressive unless aggravated until it’s late summer to mid fall, that’s when they start reproducing… Essentially females become agitated or protective over an egg sack. Males can be “friendly” but it’s a genuinely spider to spider preference; just hope that it’s a female most of the time, during most of the year.
