    right-click on the 3 dots in capture one for "Base Characteristics" and you can set to "Use default for X camera". That way every time you bring in the A7R5 files, it will know to use the Canon R5 colors if that's your thing. Also don't be afraid to try other cameras, film curves (portrait, neutral...), etc. Its not hard to make your photos look like everyone else's, but you'll get better clients if you develop your own unique look. A good starting point may be to create a profile for your camera and sensor using a Calibrite ColorChecker Digital SG and the X-rite software so you have an accurate and neutral starting point and then style from there.

    Nice insight. I typically have the reverse problem with Fujifilm. It's always too magenta in the skin. I have to use Astia, Velvia, or Pro Neg H to avoid it in camera, but then all the other colours are skewed a bit. Typically I cool the white balance down a bit say 4800k for daylight to get blue skies with no teal, but man does it give people shrimpy skin. I wish every brand had a Tone slider like Canon and Ricoh. 🙏

    • @cammackey
      @cammackey  Год назад +1

      I have never experienced that with Fuji, usually the skin tones are perfect for me. Canon and Sony skin tones will fall out of whack quickly when editing, but never had that problem with Sony. Have you checked to see if your monitor is calibrated?

    I use a Sony A7iii and I shoot weddings with two other Canon shooters. We have a preset we use for our photos and it always makes my Sony colors look a little wonky even after extensive fixing with HSL sliders, WB and Color Calibration sliders. The idea of meddling with a single file while batch processing through tons of files of weddings was never an issue on my old Canon 6D. I love the Sony but I disagree about colors not being an issue with it.

    • @cammackey

      You can’t use one preset for all sorts of different cameras. If you bought the preset, they lied to you.. as usual. If you guys made them, you need to make sure to calibrated for each camera. That is why I release presets by camera brand (unless they’re curves)

      If you don’t plan on ever making money, that’s fine. But if you ever plan on making money off photography.. it’s your job to learn how to grade. Personally, even before I was making a living off working in this field.. I still wanted to maximize my ability to create my own look. I don’t think most people even know what good skin tones are unless you study it and shoot film

      @@cammackey you can definitely make money as a photographer while learning your craft, you won't book any high end clients but most people have to start somewhere until they figure out how to make their work unique and recognizable. having decent skin tones straight out of camera is a perfectly valid reason to prefer canon as a beginner imo.

    I don't really understand why there is so much debate about minute differences in the colors of different cameras that capture RAW with billions of colors. It's like people WANT to feel like they're shooting on different film stocks, or like they want to feel that the camera bakes a certain amount of artistic identity into their footage. That's just not the reality of the digital age... not if you know how to harness the power of the tools. I shoot on the RED Komodo because I like the form factor and features, and then I convert the colors to match the Alexa Mini because I like the look. Awesome, cool... time to worry about the actual quality of what you're shooting...

    I see what you mean and I see that it’s working. I Just don’t get WHY this is working this way. I was under the impression that Capture One creates profiles for each camera model to manipulate the files from each of those camera in a way that they look the same. So basically if you shoot the same thing with a Sony vs. a Canon and load the RAW files in C1 they should look identical - they shouldn’t have a Sony or Canon look, but a Capture One look. And if I take this as my base assumption changing the profile of the Sony file to that of a Canon camera the corrections should be „wrong“ for the Sony file and bring it further away from the C1 look.
    Where am I going wrong here?

    • @cammackey
      @cammackey  Год назад +3

      I agree, I thought that was what C1 was doing as well. But I think that’s why they introduced the pro standard profiles. Those are truly neutral profiles. I personally don’t like it tho cause it shifts the skin tones even more towards yellow and they leave it up to you to edit. I rather just use the canon profile so I get the color separation off the bat

    • @sebastianreiprich3747
      @sebastianreiprich3747 Год назад

      @@cammackey My experience with the Pro Standard profiles is quite the opposite. I find that they reduce the yellows especially in the brighter parts of the skin. I don’t have different cameras to compare though, only my R5.

He make video about it -"I Turned The SONY A7CR Into The LEICA Q3" But on my a7 mk1 it looks awful, I still use it on a6000 and it looks amazing so it's depends of the sensor in your camera and lenses. In my case old USRR lenses like helios 44-2 have awful greenish tint skin color so insted of they i use Zuiko Om with adapter to sony e And some cheap new alternatives like TTartisans 35mm f1.4 or 7artisans 55mm f1.5 They have simmilar vibe but without this trash colors. Anyway if you find some links to download you can let me know if you want...
