SCSI was a beast for its time. The last time I used SCSI the speeds were about 540MB/s (Megabytes) using Adaptec Ultra320 controller. That is actually still pretty comparable to speeds from today.
Those numbers are rivaling decent drives in terms of top speed during large block transfers and absolutely crushing them in terms of small block ones. I bet the boot times are much better?
From Australia, I finally bought one from you mate! Seeing that v2 is meant to be a lot better, I gathered it was finally time.. Lame about the conversion rate, but, allwell, doesn’t appear any AU stores have v2 stock! What’s the largest microSD can the v2 support? I know it’s pointless getting tooo much space (will only be used for an LCIII & LC575), but thought to ask anyway.
@joescomputermuseum I wonder how well this would work on the MM/1 system. The MM/1 is a 68070/68340 based Microware OS-9 68K OS system. I believe a lot of the hardware in the MM/1 is like the old Philips CD-i system.
Excellent news! Gonna be ordering a few as soon as stock is available and I get paid. Really glad they moved off of the STM32 platform... those buggers are still ridiculously difficult to get ahold of. Digikey, Mouser, etc. are still showing leadtimes anywhere from 6 months to a year(!). Yet RP2040's are still plentiful (and not selling for exorbitant prices.) Plus it sounds like the RP2040 brings more power and performance to the table, to make it possible to incorporate all these new features (hot swap, fast performance, etc.) One quick question, how is compatibility for non-Mac systems in BlueSCSI 2? I have some older Unix workstations (mainly Sun SPARC boxen) that I am trying to restore, but BlueSCSI 1 never really worked very well with those.
Would this work on my Macintosh SE? (Just SE, not the SE/30.) I know the performance wouldn’t be an improvement compared to V1, but I just wanted to know if it would work in general. Also how is it actually attacked to the computer?
It absolutely will work on an SE/30 - I use one to test all BlueSCSI units sent out! You can install them inside the computer using a ribbon cable (internal) or to the DB-25 connector on the back (external).
@@JoesComputerMuseum also, sorry to bother you again just had one more question, or I guess two: do you know when, or how often, the external fully built ones take to come back in stock? My other question is that are there any specific files you recommend to put on the Bluescsi?
@@creepertech9872 I usually never run out of stock, but other sellers have them on BlueSCSI.com. I should have more stock in a couple weeks. You'll want to download fully ready images also from BlueSCSI.com to get started quick.
Thanks Joe for doing a review and glad you're part of the project. It was your video about 3 years ago on the original #BlueSCSI that put us on the map.
This is freaking awesome!
You bet your west-coast noggin it is! :D
Works well on Amigas too Adrian!
🤔👀! He sent me here...
What is this, a crossover episode?

This is awesome news. I have had some problems with BlueSCSI in the past. I will be ordering and testing this out in the Retro Hack Shack for sure!
Science Asylum reference at 4:50?
Wow! A ton of great updates. I'll need to order a few BlueSCSI v2's for sure!
Awesome and fantastic V2! Thanks for sharing and making this video as I know you are crazy busy! May your website overflow with V2 sales :)
So it's YOU who slashdotted me a couple of hours ago! You, sir, are a charlatan, and a rascal.
@@JoesComputerMuseum lol
Woot! BlueSCSI rocks!
... also, 4:34 what's in Super Secret Project Folders??
Super Secret Projects, of course! *SUS* 🦜 Naw, it was just private internal folders that nobody needs to see.

These things FLY.
Excellent! Love the BlueSCSI and I'm excited to try v.2.

Just ordered V2 as soon as I was notified in stock.
Got old scsi drives and interfaces adapter or qlogic
Received a kit instead of fully assembled one. Please help 🙏. Need to check compatability with Staubli Jc5 Machines
I've shipped your replacement. :D

If it supports SCSI, it'll probably work just fine.

Compatibility is quite broad.I have not heard any reports of operation on Sun systems. github.com/BlueSCSI/BlueSCSI-v2/wiki/Compatibility
My IICi might like this
Is there a weblink that shows how to instal System 6 onto bluescsiV2 hardware?
It's the same process as installing on v1: having a properly formatted HDA image file on an SD card. I can send you an email detailing the process.
UPDATE: Go here. There's pre-made images available. github.com/BlueSCSI/BlueSCSI-v2/wiki/Usage
Can IIe's use bluescsi??
Yes, if you find an Apple II SCSI card.

Do you think Blue scsi could resurrect my old quadra 650 which has a dead hard drive?
Probably!
Can i use bluescsi on an mpc 2000??
Most likely, yes!
Thank you for your answer which pin I need?
I don't want it, I NEED IT!!
Joe, I would like it if you had more videos at this length. I just can’t sit in on 2 & 3 hour long video’s, and I enjoy your video’s.
I'm working on it!
Joe, got some mc72c64 eprom chips free. And a RGB monitor. I’m in central Ohio but service all over the state let me know.
Go to jcm-1.com/contact and send me an email.

Background music would be great in the club but not while I am trying to hear what you are saying.

So…..JCM-1.COM ?
Yep, and bluescsi.com and scsi.blue - all the places!
Great information but the music is very annoying and distracting
Loved the V1's - bought several from your store, can't wait until my small stock of them runs out so I can buy the V2's next.
