    Trunk taper means the lower part of the trunk is thicker in girth than any part of the trunk above it. So the trunk girth diameter decreases as it goes up. Same for Branch, the thickest part of the branch is where it is emanating and that it decreases in branch girth as it goes out.

    One of my passion is in Bonsai tree... Both in live trees and in copper wire tree.. watching this from the expert seems will help me a lot because I'm planning now to be with family and to attend my fulltime in Bonsai making. I'm here in KSA , OFW and have an early retirement by Feb.' 19. Sad to heard that our Kababayan - the Expert here in Bonsai Plant making already passed away...late man but expressing my sincere pakikiramay sa mga naiwan Mahal sa buhay.. God Bless Po sa family.. encourage din to continue making videos ng Isa sa nga anak who's passion is also in Bonsai Plants.

    Hi, can I have an advise about the right times of the year to prune, re pot, etc... because the articles and books that I have been reading were authored by bonsai artists like the USA and Japan where they have winter. I'm just wondering that since we do not have winter in the Philippines, is it ok to prune all year round, like hard pruning? By the way, I've learned a lot from you videos, very informative. Thank You

      as what ived seen on sir Jun's videos, basically philippine climate is an all year round growing season but still depends on the plant that you are training i guess. heheh. just new in bonsai hobby, .

    Thank you for this great video! One question: you can put in mathematical proportions only the formal / informal upright or there are already established proportions for other styles too? Thanks again.

      there is, mostly on the branch placement they call it the rule of thirds.that applies also yo the 2nd generation branches growing on the primary branch, just try to approach as best as you can that can be difficult.

    • @BonsaiIligan
      @BonsaiIligan  7 лет назад

      the trunk height and trunk thickness also has a guideline. your trunk girth should be at least 1/3 of your tree height, we do that by shortening you tree, trunk chopping if necessary.

    OH my gosh thank you so much for this video. I have no access to classes and lectures. All I have is are basics from the internet, akadama is practically banned now in my country, and I have to order expensive books. I don't think the books will even fully explain how to do it all properly since all trees are slightly different.

      @BonsaiIligan  7 лет назад

      you are right, start by selecting trees local to your place and ask other enthusiasts or nurseries in you zone.

      thanks HEW, I and Neli have same objective, to spread bonsai knowledge to all so we all learn and enjoy bonsai. We are sort of complementary since I do videos and she does pictures in Facebook. I even did a video she requested, about created Nebari through Split Bark technique, you can find it in my channel. BTW Neli is good she studied her bonsai in Japan.

    This was really really good. But if someone had no experience, even with math they will first need to learn keeping the tree alive. All of this process is 2-3 yrs per trunk chop each. And quite possibly 8-yrs just developing primary branches

    hi , what about the lenth of the branchs? if i have a 12 inch hight tree how long the first branch shoud be ? thank you so much

    • @BonsaiIligan
      @BonsaiIligan  7 лет назад +1

      not about length but thickness. you just have to balance your triangle i haven't seen a length requirement. what is beautiful is deemed correct.

    • @patrickparmer1648
      @patrickparmer1648 6 лет назад

      use your hands to cover the branches from a distance. using your thumb and index finger on both hands to create a triangle (top of the triangle at the top of the tree). move your thumbs together to shorten the bottom branches. and farther for longer. look at the tree thru the triangle from a distance and move your thumbs in or out til you see the length you want and cut it there. so just use your hands to cover the length of the branches til it looks right, then cut it where you see fit. thats what i do. i cant eyeball it either

      Adriano Matos ahahaha..I would love to be multi lingual but sorry I am just a simple man. I would have wanted to have many chokkan trees at different stages of development, so I can show you in pure Demo where you can understand even if I don't say a word.
