I always love watching you paint portraits. There is a moment where the portrait becomes ALIVE and I am always amazed when this happens! You inspire me every.single.time!
I try to paint loosely because otherwise I would try to paint the portrait perfectly. I know I can never paint a perfect portrait (nor do I really want to!) so I implement strategies to help keep me loose. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, thanks for watching and letting me know your thoughts.
Thanks Angelina! I do find it interesting to start with a bright color (that I normally would not use) and discover what might happen. I hope you give it a try.
Ha!! Had to laff when one commenter asked "Where's the Pink?" 😅 I've got to try that! And I really love your whole style with all your many layers of everything, and your whole...sort of distressed look! And she came out looking very cool~!! Thanks Pam!! ~❤~😊
Yes, I love watching your videos too. They are always very inspiring. However, I don't have the confidence to take such portraits. But maybe, who knows . . . Thanks for the video 🎨🙋🏻♀️🇨🇭
You can do it Dagmar!! If you scroll back through my videos I have one on how to get started with portraits by tracing, etc. If you go all the way back to the beginning of my YT videos you can see my early portraits. When I started making art 12 years ago I honestly never imagined I could paint a portrait--I'm just saying, "it is possible!"
Thanks Susan! To be honest, I am not sure what was under the pink paint. I often use up my leftover paint and clean off my paintbrushes on blank art journal pages so there ends up being lots of layers. I find by doing that I get unexpected results and it takes away any notion of perfection.

You are so kind, thank you Jamie! I appreciate knowing that you find inspiration in these portrait paintings.
Suddenly she’s there ! Love the looseness of your work ❤

I really enjoyed watching this. The peaking pink gives it a whole other (actual!) level. Very cool!

Very creative, I’ve been practicing my faces, this was helpful. Thanks!🌺🌹

I just love your channel...Love your teaching style. Thanks
You just made my day! Thanks for your encouragement!
Shes cute. I gotta practice portraits more often. I want to end up doing abstracts with semi realism faces. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Diane! I love your idea of abstracts combined with semi-realism the contrast will make your art so interesting.
She is amazing!! I love your work!
I appreciate that so much! Thanks for letting me know and for watching.
Love this, super job! 🥰🎨👍

What fun! I’ve never seen that scraping manoeuvre (new to art), but I love the effect it gives. ❤ your style.🎉. Was there gesso under the pink paint?

This was a fun video 👏😅 so inspiring to see you work 🥰 lots of love from Arctic Norway 🥰🍀🌼🌸
Thanks Lena! I appreciate your kind words.
Wow. That is a bright pink. Not your norm……nor mine. lol😂 I like it though.
So true! You won't see a lot of bright pink in my work but a bit popping through is kinda fun
Where is the Pink?
Only tiny pops of pink are left which is the way I like it. Of course, you could leave much more pink color if you painted something similar.
