Orientation programme on MSMEs in Kohima
Kohima, August 26: MSME Promotion Council of India organised an orientation and interaction programme on MSMEs at De Oriental Hotel with Hekani Jakhalu, Advisor for Industries & Commerce, Nagaland on August 27.
Addressing the gathering, Jakhalu said that the state is targeting to bring more businesses into the formal sector and will ensure better compliance and access to various benefits and opportunities.
The government also aims at promoting 'Make in Nagaland' Products and focus on substituting domestic products with locally manufactured goods, exchange between entrepreneurs and experts to foster innovation and problem- solving, she said.
Jakhalu informed that Nagaland’s Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will be launching Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP), a World Bank supported central sector scheme of Government of India on August 27 in Kohima.
She said that by embracing the RAMP programme, “we can catalyze a transformation that will benefit not just individual businesses but the entire population of Nagaland.”
Together, we can build a brighter, more prosperous future for MSMEs in Nagaland, she said.
RTGS, KTGS to be introduced in Nagaland by Sept- Oct
Pradeep Mishra Sarkar, National chairman MSMEPCI said the MSMEPCI will be introducing two significant initiatives-the Retail Trading Guarantee Scheme (RTGS) and Kisan Trading Guarantee Scheme (KTGS) by September-October in Nagaland this year.
These programs are designed to provide financial assistance to disadvantaged traders and farmers who have struggled to double their income.
He said that the MSMEPCI together with the state and central government will work shoulder to shoulder in creating more awareness programmes of these schemes to create employment.
MSME PCI assured it will work toward creating employment to 10,000 people from Nagaland.
In order to make a developed Nagaland, MSME PCI will give special attention to the state, he said
To make Vikshit Nagaland and India, the contribution of people of Nagaland is very important, Sarkar added.
STPI wants software exporter from Nagaland
Abhishek Misra, Additional Director, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) said that till date, it don’t have any registered software export unit from Nagaland.
“I wish, this year, I get atleast one software exporter from Nagaland,” he said adding that STPI will provide whatever support is required for the related purpose.
Touching on OCTANE- Internetworked North East COEs (Centres of Entrepreneurship) to support technology led innovation by STPI, he said there is IT Applications in Graphics Design in Kohima.”
“We have created a world class facility here,” he said and asked the people to use the facility, and assured to escalate the matter to the ministry.
Stating that STPI had decided to support IT start-ups exclusively for North East, he said that for pan India, they are giving only Rs. 5 lakh to IT start ups but for north east it decided to give Rs. 25 lakh each to those selected IT start- ups through Open Challenge programme.
“I am very hopeful to get atleast 10 IT Start-Ups in Nagaland so that we can support and showcase them,” he said.
Nagaland lacking in exporting products to outside
Er. Sabou Yashii, Director, Information Technology & Communication, Nagaland, said that software developers are available in Nagaland “but we are lacking in exporting our products to outside the state.”
‘Even though we are working and developing for ourselves, it has to be exported in order to improve our economy,” he said.
“As far as the software sector is concerned, we are also at par with the rest of the world,” he said adding that that at present, most of the soft ware that are running in the government system are being developed and designed by own people.
We have a large pool of resources that are available with us, a large pool of in-house talent, ready to be utilized for any kind of businesses and entrepreneurship, he said.
He said that state IT department is running state data centre, being maintained by the local youth and providing various services since 2015.
He was confident that the initiatives taken by MSME and joint effort will facilitate more innovation and entrepreneurship activities and boost economic growth.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Makunga, National Deputy Chairman MSMEPCI, incharge Manipur and Nagaland while vote of thanks was proposed by Lanuakum Jamir, State Chairman MSMEPCI Nagaland.
