I think because Ian's partner doesn't understand communicating his need/want to sleep with women still occasionally isn't optional in a relationship. It's fed for the first time to Ian as what being bisexual is.
So it paints bisexuality as cheaters for Ian, but it's obvious that bisexuality is just what was used to communicate what his partner wasn't acknowledging.
Being bisexual was just the scapegoat of ignorance there.
Ian doesn't have better education on it, and his partner doesn't wanna include boundaries and it creates this huge friction. Which would have been avoided if boundaries were properly shared before the act is done, like you said in the video. Communication is key. ❤

Idk why it surprises anyone that a gay kid growing up in a homophobic area, having secret situationships with guys who used women as covers doesnt want to be cheated on especially with a woman. It would disgust you too. Its taken you years to accept yourself, and then the first stable relationship youre in is with someone who says he is gay. But then he turns around and has a whole secret relationship. It would colour your perspective and make you angry. We dont have to excuse ians biphobic comments bc he still has to do better but are we really such black and white thinkers we cant fathom why he would feel that way? Especially bc when you stay with someone and are with them you kind of just assume monogamy is whats happening unless they talk about poly or open boundaries. None of which dude did. He even lied and said he was just going to dinner and then was super evasive. Idc how you slice it its not biphobic to call it cheating

I don’t feel Ian’s biphobic more than jus ignorant because of his background.
Between Debbie’s questionable behaviour & Caleb’s cheating, as well as Vi, Kev n Svetlana even starting out messy I can see how he ends up with that negative view of bisexuality since he hasn’t really seen otherwise.
This ones always frustrating because they’re both so wrong. Ian with his biphobia, and Caleb thinking it’s not cheating if it’s with a girl. Not to mention the show itself portraying another cheating bisexual. As if we needed more of those
