It is a shame that more of these were not made. ( Yes I know there are others, I just can't find them lol) Having these posted on You Tube is great, so thank you.
I spent 2 years in Germany. Our secretary had contempt for the Americans for feeding her too many beets and not the food she wanted. I lost all respect for her after she said that.
16:34 "Let everybody live as he wants, and you need order and a goal, and everybody is worth something" Sounds like freedom to me. Trying to control people can end badly.
A nice one citizen perspective. I'd like to see interviews of French citizens when the German Army came in 1940. Or Polish citizens Or Russian, Ukraine, Lithuania, Moldova, Belarus, Latvia or czechoslovakia or Belgian or Norwegian or Greek or Malta or Romania or Estonia.
my friend was in italy at the end of the war. he said the germans had left their guns and came out to the road and asked for food. they were told to walk the other direction down the road. there were lines of them walking on both sides of the road headed where the mp's were. they were old men and young boys.
To me, as a German speaker, this has been a fantastic video. Not just because I can understand every last word in all the dialects and accents in the video, but also because it's basically what my grandparents told me about the war when I was young (I'm dutch, but the region where I live is basically Germany. My grandmother was in fact of German heritage. It reminds me of the stories my grandparents told us. I mean, the old lady with the gray hair actually half kinda looks like her. This was great and I would love to see a sequel of it.
Invaluable record of the first hours at the end of the war...but why does the subtitling read "where" every time it should read "were?" Totally different words and meanings, makes no sense.
Really? I guess my love of Japanese cinema from 1946-1980 prepared me well for such an exercise. I totally prefer the native tongue and English subtitles.
One significant issue with the English subtitles: the word “Were” was misspelled many times by using the word “Where”. It would be great if that could be remedied.
These ppl who lived through this war act as if their own country wasn't doing far worse than just shooting at kids. They act as if they didn't deserve it. They all supported their country like anyone else would. There is no justification for the atrocities the germans inflicted on the world. I'm glad they don't see war as they used too.

Moral of the story be careful on how you treat people because they might be the last person to help you
Or the last person you ever see or speak with.
When Himmler started having ads in the middle of speeches and Goebels was pitching Weight Watchers was a dead giveaway
What
We watching the same documentary? Or you just have really good gummies?

What a great little snippet of history you have shown us! Thank you😎👌

Classic whatsabaoutism. The very Definition of whatsaboutism.
Yeah true
@theonlymadmac4771 well it's one war where one-side has zero rights to a sympathetic view! Period

Great documentary!
Truthful documentary

I didn't understand the Sound of Music movie until I got a lot older and I cried for the innocent.

From my experience this was a very unique perspective.
Lamento que un Documental de este Nivel no esté en español 😢. ( O quizá será mi ignorancia )
great programme killed by the amount of ads
How did she last for so long with the nazis killing handicapped with the t4 program😷😷😷🤢🤢🤢🤢🙊🙈🙉😳😳😳
The greatest irony after ww2 is that former waffen SS volunteers fought in Korea and Indochina against communism
They were on the Eastern Front; Fighting Communism... Is there any irony there ?
That's not irony. What would be ironic is if the same ss were having to serve the people who they murdered.
Former N@zis were fighting communists?! Nobody could’ve predicted that!
Can you prove what you say. List your sources.
Know irony better

Shame all translation missing what are you hiding😢
Could u not have done it in English with German subtitles ? I am missing the video .

Yeah all these crisis actors are blatantly lying
It's not even real German being tutored. They are using convincing gibberish nonsense. Like we can see thru this charade.
@@underthemoon-p7q nothing makes me madder than fake German gibberish!! Who do they think they are fooling?!
@@underthemoon-p7q ich spreche auch, aber wahrscheinlich einen anderen deutschen dialekt als du. Ich bin sauer!!
AI voiceover is an unnecessary diminution of this work... 👎
This was interesting but couldn't they nfind someone besides over weight old people to play American soldiers?
