Modern Ghost Town | California's Eagle Mountain | History and Abandonment

Let's visit this once thriving company town created by Kaiser Steel Company. The town was created to house mining employees and included schools, shopping and other amenities you'd find in most towns. This included employee health care which birthed the well known Kaiser medical system. When the mining no longer was a viable operation, the company town was basically abandoned. On this adventure we'll learn what a company town is, how Eagle Mountain, California started, and see what it's like NOW. Since the property has been sold to a private owner, we respected the no trespassing signage which we would encourage anyone who visits the area to do. Also, we made every effort to be respectful to the people who once called this home. While this is a fascinating story with the abandonment, live were changed when it was shut down.

I used to live in eagle mountain. My dad worked at the iron ore mine until we left in 1982. I dearly Miss home and every time I drive down the interstate 10 take a look and smile knowing I was a part of that and had the best childhood in my life
