      It breaks my heart too that she and apparently many others felt/feel/will feel the need to create different parts, but at the same time, I find it amazing that the brain is so creative/protective that it is able to create them. Human brains are incredible!

      Anna133199 you guys need to watch the woman by the name of Jeni Haynes who got her PhD in law to take down her abuser and she has 2500 personalities. We don’t know we create these personalities. I’m 26 and only found out about them when I was 25 and only diagnosed at 26. My mind created them to keep us safe. My wife has DID and severe PTSD and has been in intensive therapy for the past 2 years. 23 personalities are present so far and I have met most of them, from several "littles" all the way up to mid thirties. If you know someone with DID, don't fear them, love, support, and understanding is what they need. A lot have been through childhood horrors that will make you sick to your stomach and survived.

    My biological grandmother seemed largely fine, aside from the narcissism, abuse and neglect.
    We found her journals after she died. The DID showed up in completely different handwriting. Child's handwriting, as though she'd never held a pencil, she couldn't spell. Then it would switch to her actual handwriting, a beautiful cursive script, and so forth.

    Thank you. As a now 44 year old mother who was first diagnosed with D.I.D. nearly 20 years ago, I have kept it secret for years, which unfortunately kept me hiding and away from my adoptive family for year's. Only a handful of people I trusted enough to tell, and my own family wasn't any of them. I was blessed to meet my husband Dan 9 years ago, and he figured it out before I could even tell him. But unlike others, he stayed, and has been my biggest supporter. 6 years ago we got full custody of my step-son. I was terrified that people would find out and think I could not help raise him. But he is a great young man ( now 12 years old) who is aware of all the parts of me, and although he doesn't want his friends to know (which I understand) he is extremely protective of the little ones. Your story has given me the courage to tell my parents. They adopted my two sisters and I when I was 6. Thank you again ❤️

      It's more like, yes the alters are a part of them, but not the manifestation part. Alters sometimes have whole lives they remember "before the system" despite never existing in reality before the abuse. Usually their lives, their memories, even their behaviour can be circled back to a trauma the whole system experienced. One alter may say that in their memories they didn't have a loving parent, this could be because they hold the part of the abused child that realised they weren't being treated right.

      As a thirty year old having a lot of reemergence, yes! The body is working exactly how it should (in my opinion). If child me would have had to carry even the things I’ve just now remembered, she couldn’t have. Only now that my body and all its parts (apparently) feel fully safe was I able to remember. And I had never had the ability of self reflection in my life. I thought I did but definitely not! I was a different version of myself (angry dominating protector, terrified submissive victim, and gullible, wide eyed child self- true self that never continued I think). It gets very confusing when you genuinely cannot explain your behavior but also feel like it was completely justified in the moment. Fight, flight, freeze, fawn. They were all here, never connecting with the others.
      Healing is possible! I am integrating more every day and have never felt so alive, happy, and HERE! 💝

One of them for me identify himself as a father/father figure to me and he doesn't like to use the word "protective" over me (all though he is) we say "guarded over me" and in my writing about it, I refer to him as my 'security guard'.

    I know someone who has mostly all the symptoms of DID yet the psychiatrists she has seen in the past have never diagnosed her with it and I don’t understand why not. I’ve known her for 2o years and she confided in me that she has suffered through physical, verbal and sexual abuse by her father from any early age. She also watched her sister and mother being abused by her father. Many long periods of memories of her childhood she can’t remember...I’m talking years of early childhood and into her early teens. She suffered from sleepwalking and woke up not knowing where she was, nightmares and has a now has a lot of anxiety issues. Even going to the store is very difficult for her and she frequently isolates herself from people and going out in public in general. She hasn’t admitted to having any alters which she has names for, but does say that she experiences the feeling of other people in her head, and also having the feeling that when stressful situations happen it’s like at times she’s another person and that her behaviors feel out of control and like someone else is taking the lead during those conversations. It’s really affected her personal and work life in a negative way and had a hard time keeping jobs or relationships going. Does this sound like someone who has DID?

    • @lights4946
      @lights4946 4 года назад +6

      Hi! I’m not an expert and i cant diagnose her obviously so take my words with a grain of salt, but i do have DID and I’ll say her story sounds very similar to my own. Maybe her psychiatrist doesn’t like to give diagnoses? I know some professionals are like that. Another possibility is that her psychiatrist might not believe in DID or may have misconceptions about the disorder; that’s unfortunately very common. It’s also possible she’s not being completely honest with them about her struggles. Pretty common for people in general to downplay their symptoms and when it comes to DID its even more so since its a disorder that’s designed to fly under the radar as much as possible. I wish you and your friend the best ❤️

      I think a lot of psychiatrists don't believe it exists. Mainly because they are taught that its extremely rare and they don't want to ruin their professional reputation by trying to diagnose someone with it and made to look like a fool. I've been diagnosed with it in the past and this psychiatrist at my local hospital was aware of it because a nurse told him. I can tell by his actions that he was so against the idea. Years before another psychiatrist diagnosed me with it and treated me as such for 6 years. Regardless if it was the correct diagnosis I did get much better. The therapist I'm seeing now is aware that I had been diagnosed with it. At first she said it was a fad from years ago and that no one can prove it exists. Now shes like on the fence about it. She won't say she thinks I have it but will say she has seen some "shifts" and my demeanor changes. Its so frustrating. It really just depends on what therapist you get. I think anyone who has lots of suicide attempts and a lengthy psychiatric history needs to be screened for it and other dissociative disorders.

For me, is very hard to accept that… I recently had an insight when finding very offensive text messages to my boyfriend without recalling. I had to call my best friend and tell her. Her message was: We have known since several years. I had to go to nearest ER because it was shocking. I’ve been struggling to have friends…to be kind to coworkers…to be the best boyfriend…Unfortunately, one of the alters is very protective of the others. He can be very difficult to deal with. We thought it was Bipolar Mix Disorder or a Borderline…But now I know and accept that there is 4 alters and I have no control.

      sometimes certain selves just need proper healing if identity stance is very strong due to serious hurts in the psyche that needs the most healing compare to other functioning psyche of a person and it may take time to merge identities in unity overtime.

    • @danishbutter1847
      @danishbutter1847 2 года назад

      if you want to merge with and lift the burden of that self to exist as whole one you also need to be ready to embrace psychological painful processes that should be guided by a mental health specialist on a routine check up basis but take your time the hurts in a psyche is not easy to take and handle but with emotional supports and connections and specialist this helps the process being smoother but it will still sting quite a bit but that's the important steps for merging unity to happen and after all he is you and just you but carries a certain psychological karmic weight i hope this can help as i am just a stranger who has build a lot of soul knowledge through the years and who has applied it to myself in the healing journey i go through as well, good luck.

      It’s not uncommon to have what are called “introjects” in DID or OSDD. Basically your brain grasps onto something from the outside world and shapes the new alter around it. They can be people you know (like parents or friends), they can be real people you’ve never met (like Justin Bieber or Barack Obama), they can be historical figures (like Cleopatra or Napoleon), or they can even be fictional characters (like Hermione Granger or Rapunzel).
