You guys should see stefanos vlogs he's pretty chill offcourt he's not arrogant he's actually very humble hahaha

We need more tennis players who actually say what’s on their minds , not robotic boring scripted answers
Such a fun interview to watch. Plain and simple. Nothing more than that😊😂
I got the chance to speak to this guy, a couple of times during his training sessions and what an absolute legend and he said this year his going to win the Australian open
I feel like he might lol
I hope he does!! 🎾🌟
His so cute
@@rupertgordonii6623 hope so he's a top kid and speaks 4 languages...
We need new blood!!
Stefanos is a free spirit, I love his interviews, don't change for anybody, you should have helped him out Jim.
Haha it seems like he's really funny dude :) , I didn't get the audience reaction, he was just honest.
Jim Courier has always been known for his awkward interviews .. Stefanos is the nicest, most respectful and humble guy you'd ever meet ... Hope he makes the final - he's certainly talented enough and deserves it!! 💯🎾🌟
Humble? Mmmmm.....
Stefanos is a great champion and so is Gilles. Let’s face it when a player walks over his opponent (no matter how his opponent struggles with his own game) he’s entitled to say what Stefanos said. There’s no disrespect here I feel. May be we could ask Gilles
don't pay attention on the crowd, you were amazing
Simon peaked like 11 years ago. His game relied on quick footspeed, change-ups and rally endurance. He doesn't have big weapons. Obviously a young talented player can roll him now.
What a delight. Authenticity is a beautiful thing 👋
Hahaha. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this lol.
What’s wrong with that? He did dominate the match and it was definitely easy
His back hand is so wonderful 😊
mr courier is terrific.
This is just tsitsipas being greek. Speaking from experience, they tend to speak their mind over there and you just have to develop a thick skin. In a way it's good because there's a sense of authenticity and liberation about it but I can understand how you can come across as inconsiderate and insensitive to other people's feelings.
Being Greek..what the heck does that mean U flog
Yes, they are similar to Hispanics in that way, they just speak their mind without giving much thought. It's seen as good or bad depending on your own culture.
but it’s true the match was quick? if he said it was hard that would’ve been fake humility
I'm Greek and I can kinda agree imo.. I didn't find anything wrong with the interview, I thought he was being honest but cool (not rude)..but for me Greeks tend to be kinda rude and inconsiderate
@@anthonya9583 omg you are nuts... obviously you hang around with peasants....I know alot of Greeks that are nothing like that....polite and humble eg my father
Players say the exact same thing and don’t get booed wtf what have they got against him?
Poor guy. If you watch Roger with Courier Roger gets away with actually very similar commentary. Difference is Roger says it in the right tone and with a big smile. Stefanos didn’t really say the WRONG things, he just didn’t say it in the right way!
Also roger has been around for twenty plus years. This guy is 22 maybe show a little humility for an up and comer. He is a great player but so is medvedev, zverev... lots of great up and comers.. too early to be so cocky
@@Chuchutrain806 The people love a champion, that does seem to be a pre-requisite to be Roger.
@@Chuchutrain806 you will surprised how much of a brat Roger was before being n1 for the first time, and he gave a lot of "cocky" answers in that time, i dont see a problem with stefanos im this regard, its something players gain with experience
True
@@diegosotomiranda4107 when was Roger a brat?
Im pretty sure he wanted to formulate this differently but bro hahahah this is hilarious. When he tried to correct his sentence from before he made it worse 😂😂
He’s just adorkable in this interview. He didn’t say anything wrong.
Loved Jim growing up love steffano now
OMG, now I understand why he's friends with Naomi Osaka xDDDD. Don't worry Stefanos, you will get better at speeches and interviews just like Naomi did :)
i like him
He’s too cute lol.
Bro?
Yeah he was sweet and a bit vulnerable in this interview, like scared of the crowd.
Aw I thought this was a sweet endearing interview. Very refreshing from the usual stock answers yes.
Why is Courier making it hard on Steff knowing he's obviously on the introvert side. He did well anyway tho
Hes jealous
It's all just a bit of fun. Chill
He’s telling the truth. Nothing wrong with that!
He's one of the few young players with real personality, works super hard and is a super addition to the tour. If I was a top brand I'd want him advertising my product for the next 15 years. Yes he backs himself which can seem over confident but that's no bad thing. These Kyrgios loving, reward failure loonies need their heads examined. What has Aussie sport become?
i feel for him as it was obviously a bit lost in translation, but the use of the word 'easy' wasn't great xD
The word easy described what he felt
tsitsipas attitude level: 99999999
"You were looking good. Except for this interview. It's really awkward." What a nasty and unprofessional thing for an interviewer to say.
Relax, it was a joke.
Somebody doesn't get sarcasm
It was a joke, but maybe a little near the mark. You can tell that Tsitsipas was squirming a bit.
I wished Jim interviewed Marat Safin alot more.
Ha ha, I couldn't make out if he was doing it on purpose or he just didn't know what to say! At the end of the day, all the non-English players have to do interviews in a foreign language, so I think they do really well ❤
I think a few people in the crowd misinterpreted his answer to the first question, English is his second language as well!
Is this something like a cultural barrier or one specific to the sport? I feel like I've heard football players say more or less the exact same words without nothing but cheering in response. He just won an important match, why would anyone expect him to be humble in that situation?
In tennis you don't say that...But yeah, compared to any other sport it does seem very quaint...
Can he get any cuter? 🥺
The funny thing is that politically correctness has entered interpersonal relationships apart from the media
Ah, a crowd overreacting. Seems like covid didn't succeed in making people focus on what's important (health, safety, life).
@Benjamin Fajnkind I'm not crying, that audience is.
You're blaming a crowd booing on COVID? That's definitely not the reason lol
@@traebeneck4994 Read more carefully what I wrote.
@@bbbazzinga I was in the crowd, people were laughing. I think you're the one overreacting
@@adambuntine4418 Well, I'm only talking basing myself on what you can hear on this video.
LOL with every sentence he digs himself deeper.
actually the interviewer just kept lighting the fire up even more. zero respect for him Im sorry
It's hilarious xD
0:42 I see a sore loser
If it is easy, then it is easy 🤷♂️
That wasn't a boo. That was an oooOooooooOOooo
I see they stopped courier from interviewing 😆
If you look at his reaction to the question, instead of agreeing that it's surprising to win easily against a great player, he laughs & smirks then says, "I don't know". As if you shouldn't be surprised by the score. The crowd were laughing because it seemed like he was laughing at his opponent. Then instead of showing respect to Simon's legacy in the sport, he comes across like, "I don't know why he's so bad I guess I just played well". He also went on to say, "I don't know what his tactic was" as if his opponent doesn't know how to play.
It is arrogant for anyone to do that in tennis unless you are obviously making a joke. The crowd reaction is understandable. But I think it's still a misunderstanding because he does seems surprised and what he probably meant was, "I wasn't paying attention to his game, I was focusing on my own" but the crowd cut him off. He also never played Simon before so doesn't know what to expect.
The reason why maybe the Australian crowd was laughing is because they are used to ppl being funny and joking about opponents so they assumed he was dissing him deliberately. But it's still a very funny interview and I'm sure he doesn't mean to disrespect Gilles Simon.
I was in the crowd, i don't think anyone thinks less of him. English is his second language so he didn't quite phrase it the way he wanted. i think people were laughing cause he answers were awkward haha
@@adambuntine4418
I respectfully disagree. Courier came off as the awkward one IMO
So Jim courier asked "were you surprised" - he answered. Then he asks the same question again!
happy slum...that fits
MelBOOnians he said
Wasn’t he just being honest? Maybe people are too used to politically correct answers in this day and age.

Could he be more inadequate, immature and sidy?
Very arrogant and disrespectful against his opponent
Nope Pierre. He was honest. He doesn't do PC nonsense and fake humility. Don't get mad because your compatriot was crushed.
I don’t care about Simon, he is old and not good anymore .
But being honest can be sometime disrespectful .
If i tell you for instance that you are stupid , i would be honest but direspectful, do you understand ?
@@pierre6963 I wouldn't get offended and wouldn't think you're being honest because thankfully I am not. Understood, but he didn't say anything about his opponent. He was asked a tricky question and was honest and spontaneous.
It was an easy win; he was surprised by how easily he won because he knows Simon used to be a very good player. What do you want him to say? It was hard but I made it?? Do you want him to fake humility and give a copycat PC answer? I would think you do care about Simon because you were offended on his behalf.
@@pierre6963 Being honest is better than being a liar. If you told me I was stupid, and it's the truth, then I would have to accept that I'm stupid. But when you lie, it brings huge levels of disrespect.
@@jinto217 being honest means saying what you think, if you think someone is stupid or ugly or anything subjective it’s not a lie to tell it .
Tsitsipas: WHY ARE YOU BOOING ME? I'M RIGHT
It's a joke, he knows the Australian crowd and they know him.
hahaha
I actually loved this interview. Poor Stefanos, he was just being honest. Let him enjoy his win lol.
this was the funniest thing ever
6-1, 6-2, 6-1 -- :025 -- He was implying that since Simon is a very good player, he wasn't expecting it to be that easy, which it was from the score. He was actually paying him a compliment.
That's what I thought as well
One of the all-time best interviews ever. Jim was actually playing along, clearly appreciating Tsitsipas' style, having a laugh together. Tongue in cheek. Great stuff!
He is cute
I speak several languages. Sometimes when you're thinking one thing in your native tongue, you quickly translate that thought into the language you are speaking, and the result is not always an equivalent. Something matter-of-fact and acceptable in Greek, for example, might sound awkwardly arrogant in English. It's quite a challenge, and it all happens inside the brain in a split second.
Stefanos plaid great, He did not mess up at all. I don't feel that Stefanos was disrespectful to Simon.
It's definitely not his fault. The question was dumb. Both answers would have an arrogant undertone. If he said yes (which he did), they'd boo him (which they did), and if he said no they'd still boo him cause he'd look arrogant.. Thats definitely on the interviewer
Poor guy being subjected to ridiculous interview and being ambushed
He probably didn't know what to say since he was 5 or 6 years old when opponent started career
He was trying to be polite and questions just got worse
Tsitsipas you will be number 1 someday and GOAT is possible so let's give him some room to get there
Also wish I was 20 again. He is Greek god not goddamn Greek
His honesty and openness is so refreshing. Stefanos is lovely.
He's really cute
Stefanos, many greek Greetings ...we 're proud of you!!!!
Everybody sees that he thrashed him, that it was easy, that it was a walk in the park, everybody will go home and say it was a thrashing, but the man who did the thrashing is not allowed to say it. I mean seriously fans come on, grow up. Federer would think exactly the same thing but because he pays lip service to the fans they idolise him for his false humility. Honesty is not a good thing today sadly.
Jim with all the really intelligent questions
What should he say?
Terrible reaction by the crowd, typical Australian tall poppy syndrome, the rest of the world simply does not understand this crowd reaction.Stef was just being honest and confident. While in the rest of the world, candid honesty and well-place confidence are valued.
The interviewer was kinda crappy too
I think they loved his response.
They were all whistling, cheering and laughing with him.
Don’t understand how it’s a terrible reaction as the crowd seemed to be laughing and enjoying it - almost egging him on. Thought laughter was a fairly universal language lol
Nothing wrong with being humble
@@lusciouspearl345 I agree with this as well. You can tell that they were all laughing and whistling. They didn't boo him. He probably thought they were booing him from the whistles. In Europe whistling means descent, especially in futbol so he must've thought that it was bad. But Aussies always whistle in support.
The reaction of the crowd, Stefanos's reaction in return and Jim's follow-up questions made this so uncomfortable to watch, I needed to pause 3 times before I could watch the entire thing 😅
Melbournians have become so up tight in recent years. So sad to see people object to this kind of relaxed, spontaneous honesty.
his culture is honest not just praise and smile at your face and curse after you left, its okay you can boo all you want living in your fake social norms.
Tsitsipas is a natural savage lmao. It seemed almost scripted
I love that Courier just lets him keep going 😂
You are one in a million Stef!! Congratulations!!!
I wasn't expecting it to come so easy ... is a valid/normal honest comment. He was just expecting a more competitive match.
But "I played a spectacular match" is mainly for the spectators to judge.
Small details that finally lead to the booing
All those people writing in the comments about whether he was or wasn’t arrogant. No one cares about what you think.
It was just a funny interview with a lot of complicity between everyone !
💝RESPECT WOULD GO ALONG WAY THANKSSSS. X INTERVIEW ERRRRRRR. X
6-1, 6-2, 6-1
He could have worded it better, but saying: _I didn't expect it to be so easy_ is totally valid.
It means he expected a longer and tougher match. I bet that if he had only started by acknowledging that: _Yeah, Simon is a tough player_ and then gone on to say: _so I am surprised I won with that scoreline_ he wouldn't have gotten booed.
English is not his first language U toss . He was struggling to find the correct words

"Let's just all agree Gilles Simon sucks"
Courier is one of the worst post match interviewers. Help Tsitsipas with your choice of questions or intervention instead of telling him he "Keeps digging"
dont think so, the only reason he kept digging is because tsitsipas didnt once acknowledge the opponent, he's a big hothead.
Lol no he's widely considered the very best in the sport. there's a reason he keeps getting the gig in Australia even after the coverage switched from 7 to 9. But I think he should've helped Stef here.
I just love him lol
Unprofessional crowd
This isn't North Korea
You can be honest but there is also a little something called tact. English is not his first language so I very much doubt any offense was intentional. Just if he ever gets to the top, showing tact/empathy is a revered trait by the public. Hence why Federer is so beloved.
Federer wasnt always the "gentlemen" people see now, at stefanos age he was very cocky and even a spoiled brat sometimes, he learned to cool it down with time
@@diegosotomiranda4107 doesn’t matter, we live in an age of social media where everything is forever. Young athletes in other sports are now often taught how to act by their handlers for this very reason. How to conduct yourself in press conferences, how to use social media without damaging your image, how to act in order to obtain as many endorsements as possible. Someone like Kyrgios does not care and will never care about that stuff but that’s why his fans love him. You don’t have to act with professionalism or tact but if you care about your legacy in the sport you will.
I don’t like Stefanos but he said absolutely nothing wrong. Why the hell are people hating on him? People are such snowflakes these days argh
Is it just me or does Jim Courier seem to have a crush on Tsitsipas? He practically gushes over him on broadcasts, and here he seems somewhat flirty.
Wouldn't be an awkward interview if the interviewer asked the right questions
I love his " I don't know ".
