This looks good JVG. Coming in for the new year ❤
happy, merry, etc.
Great stuff as always Bret. HNY by the way
Same to you!
I am the biggest Jimmy Smith fan boy. Always wanted to play Jazz Hammond B3.
What stopped you?
Life. Still play the sax but have been scoping used hammonds on Facebook marketplace. You’re never too old right?
It's great to see this with such clarity after I've been enjoying the compressed version on RUclips for years. Thanks, Bret, and Happy New Year!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! Happy New Year!
Same to you and thank you so much for your support.
Nice to see Shigeharu Mukai in the trombone section
Can you ID anyone else?
Sure, Eric Miyashiro... Japan's Maynard Ferguson
Thanks for sharing this! Does anyone know who wrote this arrangement of Moanin' that they're playing? I'd love to buy it. Incidentally, today's Jazz scene DESPARATELY needs to revive the "All Star Big Band" concept; whether it be facilitated by what remaining recording labels there are or by the Downbeat/Jazz Times or by the festivals that are booking multiple artists, it's a great way to promote the art form.
How far society has fallen!
Scary. We're in the middle of a mass extinction event.
LMAO!! Whoever did the post production work on this video must have used the audience claps to sync the audio. The audience knew what THEY were doing, but... apparently the editor's taste & knowledge in music did not extend to the genre of traditional jazz. Yep... the audience was hip enough to clap on 2 & 4, but then whoever edited the video synced the audio so they're all clapping exactly on one & three! Of course everything throughout the video is off by precisely one beat!
Kind of fun to listen to, simply for Jimmy Smith's opening solo break if nothing else, but lordy... avert your gaze!
sorry about that
👍👍👍
