I am a T/C nut! I have several receivers and barrels. I love the versatility and configurations that platform has to offer. I have about everything between.17 and .50, in many different types. I’m super happy T/C’s coming back..I used to save all my pocket change for my barrels. I’d save up enough to pick it up, guys at Foxridge had a few comments about me bringing in all that change. But, that’s how I did it, I could even drive my semi around the building and go in. I had several asessories too! Hope to stop back to 10 Rod Road and see how they’re doing. Take care and stay safe! I purchased 2 TC receivers back in the day. They were Armor Alloy so that's a date line. Then purchased a 14 inch 22 lr, 10 inch 357, and 10 inch 44 mag in armor alloy barrels. Later I purchased a 30/30 14 inch barrel and a 223 14 inch used barrel. I have since sold the 30/30 and 223 barrels. So the 357 and 44 mag occupy one receiver with a Pacmeyer pistol grip and forend. The 22lr is mounted in a synthetic rifle stock with synthetic forend and I have 21/2 inch flash suppressor soldered on the barrel rendering it just over 16 inches. That particular barrel is heavy profile and very accurate. They have since suspended the Armor Alloy finish. I've had no issues with the finish. I mount optics on all the configurations. I will always keep my T/C's until it's time to pass them down to my sons and daughters!
Love the passion for getting TC backup & running. On a budget & up in age but by next year- good Lord willing- I will own a TC. Love the story on employees cleaning up after the fire. Thats caring! 👍🙏🇺🇸
Chase one down Bill. The nice thing is you can generally get a nice used frame, barrel, stocks etc. for around $700 or so. Then just add barrels (say, $250 to $400) and you get new calibers! Roy
Excellent interview and story. I bought my 1st gen T/C pistol back in 1978 to shoot steel with a buddy. Great gun and company. Best of luck to Gregg in bringing it back.
The original contenders are beautiful blued guns! I hope they continue to produce guns to such high quality that most brands have left behind these days.
I am so glad the company is back. I took my first handgun deer with a Conternder back in the 80's...been sold on T/C ever since...especially, the Contender.
I loved readi g Bob Milek articles in the 1980's, about him hunting, target and test shooting the numerous Contender calibers. I believe his articles was in PETERSONS HUNTING MAGAZINE.
Octagon barrels and International/Mannlicher style wood forends. 38/55 26" Octagon for me. 20" Mannlicher forend in 30-30 Rangemaster, which is a 30-30 Ackley Improved with a .300" long neck. Also 32-40, 35 Whelen, 223 Rem, 308 Win, 460 S&W etc. So OBVIOUSLY Encore and Contender BOTH. Personally, a 24" barrel band front sight, (rear express 3 leaf is probably asking too much) in 9.3x74R. Dark walnut forend w/ black round cap would be an unnecessary, but nice touch. While I'm wishing: 16" revolver cartridge chamberings to include: 327 Federal and 357 Maximum.
Been selling/gunsmithing since the last century. My experience shows that you should PLEASE go to 24" barrels on standard calibers on the reintroduced Icon. At least MY customers (that are not using suppressors) search out the 24" barrel. Of course the suppressor users are going from 16-20"

Interesting to hear the history of TC. I remember seeing these in the gun magazines when I was growing up but never got to shoot one. Thanks for putting this out there!
@@gunrelatedvids Lot of options if you hand load. 45 grain works good. Not sure of twist, but not fast enough to stabilize heavy bullets. 52 gr Sierra Matck kings shot good in my Contender.
6.5 Grendel in Encore pistols. Octagonal barrels! Imperial line of custom finishes like color casehardening, blued antique look, custom grips and matching forearm etc.
I LOVE TC CONTENDERS. Thank you, Greg for bringing them back. Good idea someone had about 410 handgun for turkeys. HOWEVER, back around 6 years ago, I patterned my 10" 410/45 barrel with 3" #6's. I was shocked to see the killing pattern and penetration at 25 yds. I took it turkey hunting opening day in Missour the following spring. First morning I got a 21 pd. Gobbler at 12 yards. It ruined me for ever wanting to carry a long shotgun EVER AGAIN. My tests with #9 TSS shot was disappointing. Along with chronograph to test velocity and penetration tests in new plywood, no way would I use it for turkeys unless 17 yds or under.
I'm leery too of the .410 but I've talked to a couple of guides this spring who say they've had clients take birds at 'normal' ranges with some of the latest .410 turkey rounds and had no complaints. I've heard enough anecdotal evidence that the .410 is 'a thing' but personally, I'll probably keep using bigger 'gauges. What can I say, I'm curmudgeonly that way! - BW

I've got several T/C Contender pistols on the Cat's Head frames. My calibers are: 357 Maximum, 414 Super Mag, 444 Marlin and 7-30 Waters. I'm primarily a handgun hunter, and these Contenders have never failed me in the field.
Being 74 years old and having been raised in California ground squirrels were always a problem, mostly because of their holes in the ground, livestock including horses and cattle can step in a hole and they tear their hooves off. This is why they’re still a bounty of 10 cents per tail in California. When I was young I bought the Marlin 39A and put a 2-7 power Leopoldo Scope on it and when CCI came out with the Stinger it revolutionized the accuracy and power of the 22 Long Rifle especially in the Marlin. I also have the old model from Marlin in 45-70 which I inherited from my Dad. I had the length of the barrel cut and put the larger lever that the Riflemen with Chuck Connor’s had on his. When I bought a home in Homer Alaska I bought the stainless version of the same gun and have the Ruger 77 in 338 Winchester Magnum. I loaded the Barns MRX 210 bullet gr . My Son is currently on a Moose Hunt and is using that gun.
Greg I own 2 TC receivers and two barrels,7-30 Waters and 22 Long Rifle, what a beautiful pistol!! I commend ya highly for bringing back such a WONDERFUL COMPANY!! I love everything ya do, Thanks Forever!! Larry Gene Pate
Great show Brent and Greg. I own three Encore receivers and several barrels. Love the platform and so happy it’s back. Will definitely be adding to my collection.
Another great design of the old days was when Savage Steven’s made the rifle that had the smaller 22 Hornet barrel on top and the 20ga shotgun barrel on the bottom. When I was a kid my neighbor had one and I fell in love with that gun.

I would love to see American made black powder rifles again. Maybe some single shot cartridge rifles too. I look forward to seeing what you have coming. The fire story had me tearing up. Great episode
THIS is American business at its finest! Henry gets me excited too for sure, but TC started this paradigm as we know it. Gotta love interchangeable barrels too. GREAT interview. LOVE companies with a soul, which leaves almost all corporations excluded. GO TC!

Wonderful News. While I was watching, I wondered if you’ve ever considered having a moveable grip spud on the Encore ?? The Traditional angle to use in pistols and a secondary position for use on the rifle conversions allowing a much more natural and ergonomic rifle stock. Another thing I hope you might consider in the future, a falling block rifle to take the place and market of the now very limited production Ruger No.1s. Maybe instead of a faux Farquharson, perhaps a authentic version of one of the many variants. I believe the patents have expired long ago. There were takedown variants for instance. It seem like it would be right up y’all’s alley for s future project.
I believe the love for Thompson/Center comes from a clear memory of high quality everything,, literally!! The guns are more accurate than most of us can shoot!!! I hope that same consistent quality will exist with these new firearms. If so, they will sell!!
I haven't been able to reload and shoot for a long time. Had a lot to do with caring for my wife. But since the date in my ammo boxes says 89, it was a few years prior to that I bought 2 Contenders from a guy I worked with. The 14" bull barrel chambered in .357 Herrett was my favorite. I also had a .222 octagon barrel and another 14" bull barrel in .22LR. I shot them but not much. I have always admired these unique guns and am hoping that now that I'm in a new phase of life I'll be able to get out there and put holes in things again.
Since Ruger seems to have BASICALLY left the single shot rifle market, how about a Farquarson, Dakota 76, Ruger No.1 style action. Or a modern Sharpes.....or, barring that, the TCR '87 reintroduced.
@jeffhutchins7048 yes I'm definitely excited I hope they chamber the 460 S&W in something or a rifle platform I had it in the encore rifle I was shooting 300grain hornady XTP bullets at 2,850fps that's as fast as some 30.06 rounds I've taken white tail out to 300yds in ohio
Yep, 460 holds NO interest for me in a revolver but a RIFLE is one I've always wanted. I wish Marlin/Ruger would make a lever action. Two problems though, I don't want a 336 in it, the 1894 is too small. I want a 1894.5. Also, Hornady's first ammo had a hard plastic tip so there will probably never be a big name, traditional 460. YES, I know there's a Winchester copy but it's to much $$$ for me.
Been a TC fan for about 50 years 👍👍👍 Hope you are going to build Contender and Encore handguns, you mentioned rifles and did not mention mention handguns.
Looking forward to more from the best damned hangun maker i ever found to spend my hard-earned money on. Thank you Brent, and more than thanks to Gregg for his reclamation and commitment.
I always liked that .22 but it just didn’t sell. There were some problems with it failing to extract a loaded round from the chamber, so be careful about that. Roy
I am SO ready for TC to be on the market. It’s the godfather of all guns and I’ve treasured the one I purchased 7-9yrs ago off consignment. The artistry, quality, and functionality is absolutely unparalleled 😍 Trust me, it appeals to us millennials too!
Need a small bore muzzleloader option. Was curious about once in a rifle or single shot pistol for plinking and maybe squirrels as a jumping off point for trying muzzleloaders out and right now the only off the shelf option is the traditions Crockett rifle
When S&W had it, I pitched them hard at a SHOT show, talking to the gal who was running the TC side. I told them a .32 or .36 muzzle loader would sell like crazy. They just stared at me as if I was speaking a foreign language … which it turns out I was! Roy
@@fmgpubs The Cherokee or Seneca muzzleloaders were T/C's smallbore guns, would love to see those again along with the Hawken/Renegade with 5R rifling? Might be an interesting combo!
Gregg has his hands full at the moment but I'm sure they've talked about all those. As far as repair parts go, I'm thinking it would be a far lower priority unless it's a platform they currently manufacture. Parts are a high-cost, low-margin type of deal, especially for obsolete/out of production guns so I'd think they wouldn't since time/money into it. - BW
I think they already do bit the mere existence of that ammunition with most likely preclude the future manufacture of a tubular magazine from a major manufacturer.
Love it and love his thinking that if it's cool let's make! Sign me up for the turkey handgun I sold my 410 barrel like an idiot long ago and been wanting it back ever since. I can't wait
Put a SLIDING PLUNGER EJECTOR on the ICON......WAAAAY BETTER THAN THE STANDARD spring loaded ejector. You can only get this feature on BIG $$$$ custom actions. It is PERFECT for varmint and target rifles. You can still single load and use the existing extractor as it will still be a push feed. HOWEVER it gives you increased reliability and control over how hard the fired case extacts. BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. Reloaders/Handloaders will come in DROVES!!!!
I'm a handgun hunter more than anything. I can pull a bow back any more and I've lost most of the use of my left hand due to injuries. So I got into handgun hunting.
Generally (but, of course, not always) gun manufacturers try to keep prices down to gain traction in a new market. T/C isn't a 'new' market but in many ways it is, so I'm sure they're really focusing on their price points on the new models. - BW
Nice! I still have my T/C Contender in 30-30 that I bought new in the 80's to use in I.H.M.S.A competition. What a great shooting, accurate and reliable hand cannon!
I want the true .410 10,or 12" barrel for my contender. Yesterday! Also is the icon bolt action that has the interchangeable barrel? That in my opinion is Thompson center holy Gail of popularity I do want a encore pro hunter as well same reason interchangeablity is important to me
Bring it on, TC! An American Original intended to be kept that way. Don't any more plastic nines or AR clones give the market what you do best.

Roy: you are hereby assigned!! HA! - BW
Looking forward to see TC come back. Gotta check out Roy’s book too
Appreciate that Chris! It’s nothing fancy, but it is nice to see everything on one place! Roy
I have owned a 44 pistol and a rifle with 22, 30/30 and 44 barrels for many years.
I think an ejector version in 44 with Alof magazine would be fun.
I believe the love for Thompson/Center comes from a clear memory of high quality everything,, literally!! The guns are more accurate than most of us can shoot!!! I hope that same consistent quality will exist with these new firearms. If so, they will sell!!
Agree!! - BW
Definitely need to make HIGH QUALITY iron sights available again!!
Get out there Whizard!! My .222 Remington barrel shoots like a laser, and don’t get me started on the .22 LR. But mostly, get out there! Roy
Since Ruger seems to have BASICALLY left the single shot rifle market, how about a Farquarson, Dakota 76, Ruger No.1 style action. Or a modern Sharpes.....or, barring that, the TCR '87 reintroduced.
They are talking bring back the model 83/87 single Scott or a falling block rifle
Falling block would be cool. Especially with interchangeable barrels with the scope mount on the barrel.
@jeffhutchins7048 trust me I'm with you on that if they did make one I'm sure hornady would make the lever evolution soft tip for a repeater
Been a TC fan for about 50 years 👍👍👍
Hope you are going to build Contender and Encore handguns, you mentioned rifles and did not mention mention handguns.
I'll be purchasing AGAIN, more barrels and accessories PLEASE.
I'd rather have the old Contender back. Just saying.
Looking forward to more from the best damned hangun maker i ever found to spend my hard-earned money on.
Thank you Brent, and more than thanks to Gregg for his reclamation and commitment.
I love my Contenders. I need more!!
Contender Life!!! Thanks.
You made my day THANKS
I probably have the only Thompson Center Bechmark 22 new in the box. I also have they’re muzzloaders which are excellent I’m glad they are back
I always liked that .22 but it just didn’t sell. There were some problems with it failing to extract a loaded round from the chamber, so be careful about that. Roy
@@fmgpubs thanks Roy I have heard the chrome flakes off
So glad T/C is back. American Made by Americans please bring back the Muzzle loading line.
I am SO ready for TC to be on the market. It’s the godfather of all guns and I’ve treasured the one I purchased 7-9yrs ago off consignment. The artistry, quality, and functionality is absolutely unparalleled 😍 Trust me, it appeals to us millennials too!
Great news. Glad to see we tempted you over to the dark side! Roy
bring back compass rifle clips . they are needed out here
Need a small bore muzzleloader option.
Roy
I suspect about 2 dozen people would buy one, but those 2 dozen of us would be tickled with it.
@@fmgpubs The Cherokee or Seneca muzzleloaders were T/C's smallbore guns, would love to see those again along with the Hawken/Renegade with 5R rifling? Might be an interesting combo!
Thanks. .17 rimfire single shot rifle with interchangeable barrels . Peep sight .
You're welcome! - BW
THANK YOU !!!
Will they be making the Hawkins and renegades and will there be parts for the old sidewalks ??
Gregg has his hands full at the moment but I'm sure they've talked about all those. As far as repair parts go, I'm thinking it would be a far lower priority unless it's a platform they currently manufacture. Parts are a high-cost, low-margin type of deal, especially for obsolete/out of production guns so I'd think they wouldn't since time/money into it. - BW
I hope the muzzle loading Hawkins come back - both built and kit rifles!
I need an Encore in 204 Ruger in 1/11 or 1/10 twist. And I needed it yesterday
Good luck! - BW
Great stuff Guys!
When is the Encore coming back?
In 2025 according to them. Roy
Thank God!!!
I watched the video of the muzzleloader being blown up! It was your personal muzzleloader
I used to have a subscription to gun world for years always enjoyed Dave Workman’s articles does he write for guns or American hand gunner magazines
Mostly Guns Jeff, and also online. He’s a swell guy for sure. Roy
I love my Contenders …….glad to see em coming back ……how about the black powder line of rifles ….black powder is becoming popular again
Love idea 410.
Here’s the logo you should put on the box. Family owned-American made-a lifetime pro is of quality and support.
Agreed- BW
I'm a handgun hunter more than anything. I can pull a bow back any more and I've lost most of the use of my left hand due to injuries. So I got into handgun hunting.
A perfect gun to keep you going then Paul. Roy
I love my encores!
When and where can we buy a new T/C product?
He says 2025 for Encores and more later. Any dealer would be able to order them. Roy
@@fmgpubs I was too impatient to wait for that part. Haha 😄. I'll keep my eye out for them in the near future. Thanks.
I'd be interested in a new Contender unless of course it costs 2500-3000 dollars. Let's hope it's affordable.
Generally (but, of course, not always) gun manufacturers try to keep prices down to gain traction in a new market. T/C isn't a 'new' market but in many ways it is, so I'm sure they're really focusing on their price points on the new models. - BW
I would like to see a combo package ,muzzle loader center fire .
They plan on coming back strong so we'll see! Roy
Nice! I still have my T/C Contender in 30-30 that I bought new in the 80's to use in I.H.M.S.A competition.
What a great shooting, accurate and reliable hand cannon!
My favorite rifle caliber barrel for the TC. Roy
I’m definitely a wonder nine and black rifle guy, but I’m still very interested in what TC is doing.
We’ll bring you over to the dark side! Roy
Awesome news
Sir, make a few videos with both sidelocks and inlines!
Sell them to us!
I got the original TC video!
my 80 yr old mom & 74 yr old girlfriend BOTH fell in love with .410
us retired folk ( with ailments) WANT MORE 410 options
I want the true .410 10,or 12" barrel for my contender. Yesterday! Also is the icon bolt action that has the interchangeable barrel? That in my opinion is Thompson center holy Gail of popularity I do want a encore pro hunter as well same reason interchangeablity is important to me
I'm glad I'm not Gregg, trying to sort out what everybody wants RIGHT NOW!!! Ha! Good problem to have for someone re-starting a company! - BW
I have two Thompson center-fire rifles
It’s AMERICAS gun ! 🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
Exactly! Roy
I want a dedicated shotgun barrel for my Contender.
SW new AR just launched and has a 5R barrel now. Go figure…..
410 Turkey gun 👍🤙✌️
