My mom caught a 60" lake sturgeon through the ice. They had to chop the hole bigger to get it through! Using berkey nanofill no less. It was supposed to be for her summer walleye rod!

By the way, sturgeons are ectoskelatal. Watch what you grab and how you grab it. I'd add a side of fries with catsup. I like the 2X4 rod holders. Ice fishing is fun, very cold, but fun. He might consider a bigger hole. Not a bad fish. We get them on the Missouri River. They make a fair dinner.

You need to go to the Snake or Columbia Rivers for true giant stu's. I caught a 6 1/2 footer and that's a medium sized fish.
