DIY Baby Change Station Light

  • When I became a dad two weeks ago I knew my workshop time would be put on the backburner while I spent quality time with my little girl in her nursery. However, as her main interests at the moment are napping, pooping and boobies (not necessarily in that order) I quickly found our new bedroom setup had a fatal flaw. When I try to change said poopy nappies my back blocks the light and I can't see the cute little tooshy well enough to ensure a sparkling clean butt-butt. So, during a 3-hour nap, I took inspiration from ‪@graduallywizardly‬, the original nap time woodworker, and challenged myself to fix this problem the only way I know how... with bed slats and pocket holes :D

    Onwards and upwards now James. There'll be no end of child inspired build material to which you can now add stuffed toys (soft toys with stuffing in them). Not to mention the clothing you'll be able to run up with your new skills and a sewing machine. All jokes aside, a night light for the change table is a great idea. Keep up the good work. All the best.

      Soft toys were stuffed with sawdust once upon a time weren't they?! I got plenty! 🤣 The light works really well, a little too bright in fact. I need to get some material to help diffuse it at bit more for baby's eyes :)

    The music is so nap-time conducive that I started to feel sleepy! Nicely done! Did you make the...
    1. Changing Table
    2. Bassinet
    3. Mobile (Mario or Chris can cut out some cute shapes and you can paint and assemble)
    4. Rocking Chair. Mum and baby need this.
    As your cutie pie grows I will add to the list!
    Just kidding (not)! Oops I forgot...baby needs a chest of drawers to put all the cute clothes!

    • @FixitFingers
      @FixitFingers  9 месяцев назад +1

      No this is the first thing I've made for her. The change table is the one in the video, a foam pad on our drawers. No space for a dedicated one. The bassient is also her pram, but we just picked up a really nice cot so she'll be moving into that soon. The mobile is a great idea! I have Ainslee up here too for cute laser cutout things :D We have our feeding chair sorted too. Everything bar a few clothes and gifts is secondhand. We are trying to embrace the "Nothing New" philosphy and luckily we live in a really nice part of Sydney where the North Shore mum's tend to buy the most expensive stuff then basically give it away on Marketplace once they are done with it 😅I am more than happy to extend its life.
