The fit is what is so awesome about this bike , you’re 5’6, I’m 6’4, but both of us can fit on this bike with the different configurations. Pretty sweet IMO.
I was just going to ask about taller riders as I'm 6' 3" :)
I’m thinking about getting a scout sixty... Would you share what you meant by different configurations for taller riders please ? (I’m 6’2)
I'm 6'3" and was shocked at how comfortable both the scout 60 and the scout are. The Springfield is maybe the best ride I have ever experienced. Like a kid in a candy store, I want one of each!
Just wanted to thank you for the entertaining and informative videos! I'm really passionate about bikes and respect them more than any other machine, and videos that analize the feel of the bike really peak my interest, plus - one of my most favorite motovloggers is riding them! :D Keep it up, man!
Thanks Dan. I've been waiting for a good 2018 Indian review. Auto correct
amazing review of the scout sixty ! sounds very good, and awake ! windshield looks good as well.
awsome vlog !!
Just came across your vids (which are awesome). Scout is a bike I'm interested in and glad to hear you say it fits well with reduced grip/seat/pegs, as I'm 5'6" as well.
Hey man love the video been looking in getting me one of these they are beautiful bikes!
Finally a reviewer that's not 6'+ tall!!
I enjoy a few other guys on RUclips and everyone brings something different to the table. I always look forward to seeing your bike reviews.
I'm liking this! Checking them out soon for my first ride.
Dan, many thanks for the excellent review. I stopped by an Indian dealership yesterday to look at a Sixty. I was smitten. I've been thinking about moving up from my Honda Rebel (250cc), but was (okay, am) concerned about handling a bigger bike. Like you, I'm 5'6", but it sounds like this might be the perfect upgrade bike for the vertically challenged.
Love my Scout 60. I am 5 foot 7 and and the standard reach stuff works fine for me.
Dan, what gloves(brand, model) you have on the video? Looks very great...
Been riding a scout sixty a little over a year, love it!
Scout 60s or Bad Ass Bikes dude!

ayyyy!!! TUCSON!! I knew the background looked familiar 4:25
Hey! It was great seeing you on a Scout this time and hearing your thoughts on it. I upgraded from a Harley Street 500 to a Scout last summer. Now my channel has become all about that Scout.
Couple thoughts for you. One, glad you liked the power level, but this thing really shines up higher in the RPMs. Unlike the Sportster, this thing winds up to 8grand stock, and really makes a lot more power up there than down low where you were. Just hold on tight before you try it! Hehehe.
Also, Kuryakyn makes a mid control kit for the Scout that’s only about $250. Killer deal.
I love my scout so much! Even tho the numbers are the same on the Sportster I feel they're different classes. This scout looks like a muscle bike and while you're riding you feel like you feel big but agile.
The numbers are the same? You must be refering to the 1200 sportster
Love my bike!! Great video!!!
this bike rides as good as my old Dyna super glide custom without the bulk and the weight.
This is the most beautiful bike in my eyes
Asad S I COMPLETELY AGREE!!! I’m saving up and working to get enough money for it so I can get it in high school.
I agree, though I'm afraid to buy one because of what happened to Victory. If the same happens to Indian I'd be fucked to get one.
caffeine_strings what happened? I’m new to the motorcycle scene
I bought this bike and it is beautiful. I named it Sara after my Grandmother!
@@caffeine_strings5698Polaris owns both the Victory and Indian motorcycle brands they Only got rid of the Victory brand to concentrate sales on the Indian. Polaris felt Victory did not enjoy the same emotional attachment from their owners like Harley owners do with their bikes. They were still making money when they shut down that brand. Polaris will continue to make and sell parts for the motorcycles for 10 years. And honor all warranties this is true for all brands. All motorcycle manufacturers are required to supply parts for 10 years. Things like brakes pads stuff like that will be offered by aftermarket sales for years after that just like any company does. So no one is "fucked" that bought a Victory.
So it was you that I saw at last Saturday at the Indian Dealership. Saw you as you were about to leave the event.
Have you done the full size Scout ride review yet please?
Love my 60. I’m a Harley fan boy but I don’t miss my 10 Heritage Softail Classic at all.
You gave up a heritage Softail for a scout??? Hey I guess whatever floats your boat lol
The scout has the looks, performance, no vibration like a Harley, and has potential for more power. I ride a lot with my Harley friends and my friends get annoyed when I get all the attention with my indian scout sixty.
Thank you for the review, I love this bike
How do.you think I would fit on that being 6'4 Dan Dan
Love my scout sixty....
The nice thing about the sixty is it's a decent newbie bike, but with some aftermarket love it can be upped over the 69cu scout in power. A simple flash can get you an extra 10-12 hp, throw on an intake and slip on's and you can surpass the scout. (that's assuming an unmolested 69 of course). I pickup my scout sixty first week of July, red with abs. I love the red and abs just makes too much sense not to have for street riding. Once the warranty winds down I'll probably start with the modding.
How much did you pay for your Scout Sixty out the door?
Bike is definitely fast enough for interstate. My biggest complaint is highway riding with only 3 inches of suspension travel. Ive hit unexpected bumps and been lifted from the seat before. Scary stuff.
I'm 6'1 will this fit me?
A beauty!
Your 5’6 and I’m 5’2 this can fit me right?
its beautiful, i wish i could get one.
Probably a weird question, but what boots are you rockin’ in this video?
your sport bike doesnt have a kill switch?
Dan dan the fireman You live in copper basin witch is cool I live in Johnson ranch
I have a 2016 Indian scout 60. I love it. I'd get rid of my wife before it lol. I think it's the perfect amount of smoothness and roughness.
I've put 8000 km on my 2018 Scout 60 since January and love it more every day, riding it from BC to Utah and back next month. Did you get a chance to really lay into any of the Scout models? It's hard to get the RPM up in a group test ride and that's where the Scouts really stand apart from other cruisers, revving an American narrow angle v-twin up to 7000 or higher is a hell of a rush.
The interesting thing about the Scout 60 is that the biggest difference between it and the Scout 69 is its ECU map (limits torque above 6000 RPM), the actual cylinder bore difference is only ~130cc. With an ECU remap (PVCX), a performance intake, and any slip-ons (~$1000) the Scout 60 can slightly outperform the stock Scout 69.
Triumph bobber looks better i think
Is this a good bike for beginners?
Soooooo are you thinking about an Indian for your next bike?
Indian motor cycles were made for high way riding way back, there were specifically made for that, my Dad had an Indian Chief 1947 model, rode four years while he and Mom were in college then bought a four door Chevy cause they wanted a family, sold the bike, sure wished he'd stored it so I could have gotten it.
pros- motor, power and ride . Cons -seat especially after the first hour of riding!
I love that black and silver color scheme. I wish it was available on the regular Scout. Though the blue tan and white with the full war bonnet graphic on the side is sick as hell too.
5’9”, 125 lbs. would this bike work for me?
But is it cheaper that an HD883? Here in my country is the opposite, the scout sixty is more expensive.
amazing that that folks are worried about a 60 being big enough. 750s used to be big bikes
Very interested in this bike, but don't have a shop nearby to try one out for size... At 6'4 200lbs ish am I too big for this model? If there are any owners my size or bigger I'd appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Cheers
I went to the dealership in Marietta Georgia this weekend. I'm 6ft (all legs). I sat on the Scout and the Chief. I loved the Scout but the Chief was so much better! The position was natural and my bum appreciated the upgrade.
Forward controls? Not familiar with that term, please explain. Newbie, second season starting this Friday.
Walt Tanner it's the placement of the shifter and rear break on the bike. Forward controls tend to have them out further towards the front wheel. Mid controls are down under your knees.
I’m 6’1 and looking to my firs bike, I really like the look of the scout sixty, and I’m thinking about looking for a used one or buying one new. Any other recommendations as to what bike to look at?
Is this a good beginners bike for someone who has never ridden?
Yes it has good handling although the horse power may be a bit hard to handle for a beginner
What is the blue bike on the front left?
Chief Vintage. Awsome bike. Have a 15.
Sir, I need to pick your brain! I'm a "towering" 5'7" and want to get back to biking after a 35 year hiatus....
I'm 6,4 216 would you say I should get extended reach or no?
Yes. Im 5'10. Standard for me.
Do you think the 2021 Scout Sixty Bobber is a good beginner bike? Do you find this bike to be forgiving? I know you can get in trouble with some powerful bikes, but if you respect this one's power and take it easy, could it be a new rider beginner bike. I'm 38, been riding a few months, and have no desire to "push my limits," but I want a nice good cruiser.
The 2017 Scout Sixty is my first bike, been riding it for about three years regularly. It's very smooth on the acceleration all the way from stop to full open on the throttle. It is perfectly at home at highway speeds and has plenty of excess power for passing semis. It's free of any tricky quirks that will trip you up as a new rider. Speaking for myself, it's more comfortable to ride without a windshield as I have some difficulty finding the comfiest riding posture without the wind resistance, I tend to slouch without that. As a first bike, it's all I could have asked for.
@@MalfosRanger I ended up getting a Triumph bonneville. Love it
I loved my Indian scout unfortunately I was in an accident in February which totaled it.
Ouch... Glad you're okay. Mind me asking what happened?
I'm thinking of which motorcycle to get. I dont have my license yet but I'm gonns try get when I move to tenneessee and I need a beginner bike I'm 5"6-5'8 and im 204lb I have went to an Indian shop and I could hold up the bike you are riding in this video. I want one that doesn't weight a lot. Less than big ones and I wanna find a good bike
You should get a second hand bike for your first bike. Something that if you drop it, you don't care. Dropping something this beautiful would be a shame. Remember these bikes are 1000 cc , 1100 cc. That's a lot of bike for a beginner. Honestly get a 250 or 300. Those are super forgiving bikes. I love how people say, don't get a 250 you'll just want to get something bigger soon, but that's the whole point. There is a learning curve. Of course in the end get whatever you want, just my opinion. Ride safe.
You could look at a ls 650 or a suzuki boulevard. Light weight nd more power perfect beginner bike.
... Watched a few videos of shorter folks (particularly females) like the Sixty b/c of the height & comfort. Even guys that are six foot say almost the same thing. I've heard nothing but positives about the Sixty.
My gf is thinking about getting a Rebel 500. I'm gonna tell her you're recommending it for your gf and see if that convinces her :p
I'm 5'2 but I want this bike so bad, would I have any issues with riding it, considering my height?
Hey Rory, I’m 5’4. I would suggest getting the seat and maybe reduced reach handlebars. Got my 60 coming in a couple weeks and my feet got to the ground just fine, best of luck!
+1 for the rebel 500, want one myself :D
Did you ever get one? :)
@@cy-one no but my friend did! Not a bad bike.
@@Anhnoles Did you get something else?
Personally, I'm saving up for a Rebel 500 currently and hope to get one next year :3
@@cy-one the vulcan 900 custom caught my eye. It has better ergonomics. Honda just announced the rebel 1100, you should look into that.
@@Anhnoles The 1100 will be out of my price range. I also don't really want something that large to begin with, tbh.
The Vulcan is nice, I actually like how it looks (I don't like the Vulcan S' looks).
Personally, I plan to ride the 500 for a few years and am currently thinking of going up to an Indian Scout afterwards.
Bro Anthony V thats my name with my last name initial as well
I have never had a bike with forward controls, or a windshield. But! I have ridden both, and from my experience, windshields causes buffeting and also distort your forward vision. So I don't like them and never have. It was always my opinion that your helmet face shield acted as a wind screen, and your riding jacket acted to protect the chest (proper riding gear of course). Now, my feelings about forward controls; don't like them at all, because you can not stand up! Standing up on the bike can be important in certain situations, and can become a safety concern if you're unable to stand up.
My bike had a windscreen when I bought it so I rode with it for about 200km to get home before taking it off. It was a bit bigger and definitely wider than the one in this video, but it was really nice and didn't create any buffeting whatsoever. I've always had bikes with forward controls, never in my riding years have I had a need to stand up while riding, so not really sure how that would be a safety concern. The only times I've lifted myself from the seat have been when there's a big pothole in the road coming and I wanted to protect my ass, and I could easily do that.
I love Indian motorcycle way way more than Harley I ride a Yamaha r3 and a Indian scout bobber
I enjoy your videos, but, what the wind does when you have a short windshield moving your head around is "buffetting", not, buffering. Sorry to act like a grammar Nazi, but there are four are so other motorcycle vloggers who call it buffering...they are wrong, too! Other than that, keep doing your vlogs...good work and it is great to have you and the other vloggers do reviews and experiences biking!! Thanks, and, yes...this post makes me sound like an asshole...sorry!!
I started on a Suzuki S40. It's light weight and 650cc so it can easily do highway speed. I loved it until i got my Harley of course. Look into it for your girlfriend.

No offense but that's what you get for buying a Sportster. That being said, you should do a 'walk around' before demo riding each bike.
The new iron 1200 is $10,000

So does the 60.
Got the go ahead from the Wife and buying a Scout 60 w/ ABS this week.!!

It is just a beginner bike that seems faster than it really is. The bike has far to much plastic even for a budget bike. But if you are not used to much,......it may impress you.
Every motorcyclist should look up the history of Indian. Everyone likes HD, but if people actually knew the history of Indian, I am sure there would be more fans than HD or equal.

This bike is hidious . Not for nothing it's cheaper than a sportster.
Worst riding bike , you can’t stay long as one minute on red light and your eggs starting boiling pipes extremely hot I got burn , shocks worst and horrible you will catch every small bump on road like shit shit shit because it kick your back and spine don’t buy that crap
