if you want to have thick yoghurt try buying greek yoghurt or yoghurt from turkish supermarkets (which are everywhere in germany). They are usually really thick and creamy 🧡
She can also mix Speisequark with Greek yoghurt! It has the same effect! Koreans usually eat very thick yoghurt and Quark will give them that consistency.
Your German pronunciation sounds very good! Maybe try watching some German series with Korean subtitles? That way you will get a hang on typical expressions and pronunciation quite quick. You are doing great so far!

Its quite interesting to watch your videos because of your perspective. I’m German and have often wondered how foreign people learn German (it is often difficult for locals too). I wish you all the best for your time in Germany.
Your German pronunciation is soooo good, and the comment that you made about how can Germans remember all the articles and such, I feel the same way with Korean (I'm German studying in Korea) XD there are so many expressions and I get so confused when to use what. I hope you like Germany and enjoy your time there!
You're right that painkillers are usually only sold at pharmacies, stores like dm only have natural medicines like tea, supplements and so forth. But don't worry about going to a pharmacy, you don't need a prescription for most things and people there are very friendly. I take Excedrin for migraines and get it there :) And if you ever need anything they don't have (whatever that is as long as it's some kind of medicine or wellness aid) you can order it and they will have it within a day or two!
turkish supermarkets have really thick and creamy yoghurts and are generally cheaper, they also have more spices and things you can't find in german supermakets
props to you for trying your best in German!! it is a difficult language I know that for sure. good luck!! oh and maybe you didn't know but right now in Germany gas and electricity are very expensive so maybe they decided to be more thrifty in your building :) be careful if you pay additional charges and electricity bills to your rent because you might be surprised of prices going up at the end of the month.
Yes, the same in Finland. That is why I don't even want to use the oven at all now. If I use the stove, I cook so much food at once it lasts me the whole week and I just need to microwave the food. But it is boring to eat the same food for so many days in a row but what can you do 🙃
i can only second this! it's really worth it to invest in a thick sweater and some thermal wear (leggings, socks, etc) for winter to wear inside because heating costs are through the roof. the one-time investment will come out far cheaper than the cost of turning on the thermostat. generally german buildings are designed to keep heat in though, so you should be fine during the winter months - it won't get much colder inside than it is now.

Hi eyol! I'm also doing an exchange year here in the US. I'm in my High school year and will be here for the next 10 months. I can relate to you with your adaptation with the weather, culture, school system, language, diet, so and so. I'm happy that you have someone to sit with and hangout with because they surely are the ones who will make you happy. I'm glad that you can find the things you love to do while also exploring beyond your comfort zone. You have comforted me with your daily vlogs and I'd be happy to see more. Thanks for sharing with us! 💕
Hi eyol 😊, you are so brave and I wish you all the best for your time and your studies in Germany. I came to Germany from Poland when I was a child and that was many, many years ago, but I also know what it's like when you're a stranger. You speak German very well. You live in Freiburg, I live only an hour away. Thank you for your videos. 😊🌷
Your heating in the building might not be on yet. And this year it will be limited. Good for getting the hot water bottle, it is such a lifesaver. Husband and I just got an electric blanket so that we don't have to use our heating much.
It is very likely that they just haven't turned the heating on, dw! Mine isn't turned on yet either (it's actually still pretty warm outside for this time of year, usually it would be colder and with the energy crisis, they might try to push it even more). You could ask neighbours or management when they turn it on and if it doesn't work then definitely ask them, they have to fix it (for free)! Your landlord cannot leave you without working heating in the winter. But hot water bottles and warm comfy clothes might still be necessary

Perish the thought that all the pasta had been cooked that first day :-) It is normal to ask what is in the different breads, rolls and pastries. And Freiburg is big enough that I'd imagine most store clerks being able to communicate in english. Its so interesting to see how a non native german tries to live in Germany. Like theres such a huge difference between Germany and Korea. Also not all germans know the grammar correctly which means they have something called ''LRS -> Lese Rechtschreib Schwäche'' and to be honest its not rare here in germany. Even i struggle with pronounciations and der, die, das like when to use it correctly and so on. But youre doing great, so keep it up ! :)

It looks so peaceful
Instead of Google translate, try using reverso. It requires you to know a bit of the language already but if you already do, you can never go back to Google translate.
