LizzieSparrow2 They just stereotyped Texas when the liberal's from California cry over others Stereotyping people from across the nation like other races and religious groups. Hypocritical.
I am a horned frog fanatic. The Stanford band was great. Anyone who was offended wanted to be offended. If you know about the history of the Stanford band, then you should not have been surprised. My only disappointment was that they were not as clever as they have been in the past.
Lighten up. They played on exaggerated stereotypes just as Texans do to Californians. Having lived in both states, it is fair to say that each state has its ups and downs. As a native Texan, we have to laugh at ourselves just a bit. We do brag about everything being bigger and it is funny. And when speaking of politics, we even are bigger with liberalism than California as verified by visiting Austin.
Native Texan here: that shit was funny. Y'all need to get over yourselves and learn how to take a joke. The more you react, the happier this band is. They thrive off the reactions, best thing you can do is ignore them if you don't like it.
MetalDetroit Is that the only way you can get a hard on is if someone is waving the flag? I’m watching the Sun Bowl right now and I guess Texas has a short memory (what else of theirs is short) because they invited Stanford back to Texas!
Thankfully, this year, the antithesis, a band with class is coming to the Alamo Bowl: Washington State Cougar Marching Band. You can see here how they show true sportsmanship in playing the opponents fight song because the visiting band (UW -- biggest rival) bus was in a wreck on the way to the game. They also kept the UW band section roped off from anyone sitting there. ruclips.net/video/mc4eHWABBtY/видео.html
Ignorant reply. You rely on stereotypes rather than fact. Hard to find a place more politically conservative than Orange County, CA. Hard to find a place more liberal than Austin, TX. As a native Texan, I can see why it is so much fun to make fun of Texans. For goodness sake, people lost their minds over a joke about Whataburger! The reaction of the offended Texans is all the fodder needed for future groups to make fun of Texas. It's a scene straight out of King of the Hill.
John Tanner in general, California is the most liberal state in America besides NY. That's a fact. Obviously there are certain places within each state that have Republican/conservatives living there. When I lived in San Diego, Oceanside, Pacific Beach and L.A there are WAY WAY more liberals than conservatives and you know it. If you even have conservative views or talk about liking Trump you are looked at like an alien and hated instantly! Liberals are the most open minded people as long as your views are exactly like theirs.
John Tanner I don't live in Texas now but I have for 15 years of my life. Texas is by far the best state I've ever been to or lived in. The majority of Texans are conservatives and I love that. California is a shithole compared to Texas! You say people make fun of Texas and your correct but far more people make fun of states like California and N.Y.. I've lived in many states and this is what I've gotten from most people around the country.
Then you haven't lived in Texas lately. It is a purple state with every major city being blue. Texas is great, but not because it is conservative or liberal. It's because it is Texas. California is amazing as well. Low unemployment, beautiful areas and great cities. Texas is not as conservative as you think and California is not as liberal as you think. And the most liberal state in the US is Washington. NY and California don't even come close.
Danielaaa The Salvy LOL!! Yeah... Almost as funny as Texas underwater & flooding for weeks with Hurricane Harvey---not quite as hilarious, but almost. Good times! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
can they get their band to march in step? I want to get annoyed by the trash talking, but I just can't get over my astonishment at how atrocious the band is. They absolutely would have been failed out of my rural high school band. Some of them would make the cut as freshman, but the standards for a high school sophomore are just so much higher that I don't think there'd be any room for them.
elenchus Marching in step is for Nazis. The proper name for bands that march are Nazi Bands. All bands should be forced to scramble like Stanford, period. If I were the band director of your University, I'd turn them into a scramble band that makes fun of other schools.
There is a University IN Texas - Rice - whose MOB (Marching Owl Band) have done derogatory and satirical halftime performances for DECADES, and are at least funny, witty and clever. This is mean spirited and juvenile, to put it politely. They wanted to make a joke? They did -- THEMSELVES.
I read their script on their Twitter page, and honestly, this was funny. it’s funny to poke at ourselves sometimes. Too bad us Texans can’t take jokes.
They totally would have laughed if we had done the same. That's what makes their "attack" on Texas even funnier. It's not their script, it's our reaction.
It wasn’t a joke, it’s Californians coming to Texas and trying to spread liberalism. Sports and politics do not mix, political jokes at a halftime show do not mix. It’s a superiority complex, the people who wrote this think they’re smarter than Texans, like Texans are just dumb hicks.
To everyone who says this show is about politics: Do you hear yourselves? It's SATIRE, something you'd find on South Park. I'm a Texan, and I thought this was pretty great. Also, UT and Texas A&M literally diss each other in their fight songs, so the "tasteless and trashy" argument is invalid.
Last I checked Stanford beat the crap out of TCU in this game. You saw a bunch of actors playing a scripted game and were brainwashed by hypnotic rays into thinking TCU won.
David Ortiz they didn’t lose, there’s no way their goal was to go out with cheers after insulting an entire state and most of their political views. they got exactly what they wanted.
Samuel Hayden You watched actors and were brainwashed by dangerous rays emitting from your TV. I saw Stanford win this game with my own eyes. You are still brainwashed to this day.
Was in band in Texas and 1. A show like this is very hard to pull off and 2 Most Texans poke fun at this stuff all the time. When did everyone lose their sense of humor and when did booing people become OK? I teach my students that while it's OK not to enjoy something it's not OK to be mean.
AxKxC, no their goal wasn’t to go out with cheers after insulting an entire state and most of their political views. they got exactly what they wanted.
If you are letting that goofball routine offended you a> fell for the gag hook, line, and sinker, and b> have surrendered too much control of your well being to a bunch of college kids from halfway across the country.
idk why yall are getting so offended. this is hilarious. im especially confused as to why texans are getting offended; if the opposite happened (texas band making fun of cali) and people got offended, yall would call them snowflakes.
lmao. they are all things that can be criticized. ur a dumbass if u think the whitehouse, every state in the US, and people’s political views can’t be criticized. glad to see people still get their feelings hurt about these things.
They weren't just attacking the White house you moron. They even used the word "Texas" like 30 times. They have already infected the NFL with this garbage and now have to ruin NCAA football games. Get politics out of where they don't belong.
The worst thing about this performance was that it sucked. The music and the visual presentation was horrible. How Standford still lets this mess represnt the university is beyond me.
This is truly disconcerting. Never, ever, in my 61 years have I ever heard of a marching band going out of its way to ridicule and show disrespect, even if you call it humor, or even if your found the sarcasm funny, it was disrespectful. Disgraceful. I was proud of my first 52 years which were as a Californian. Now, for nearly the last 10 years I've been a New Mexican, and I am ashamed of California...especially the Bay Area.
If you live in California, near the coast, especially near LA or the Bay Area, you'll be caring a great deal where you live in a few months. You'll wish you lived elsewhere.
Many others share my sentiments. The pride of the California Bay Area is high, which is why so many of them look down on the people from the "Fly Over" states, like Texas. They were ridiculing you. Would a Texas college band ever ridicule any home team crowd in California, in that crowds own stadium? Has it ever happened before? I doubt it. People from Texas are respectful of others too much to do that.
The Rice Mob would do it in a split second and people from the Bay Area would be laughing. The way you write makes it seem that it is a good thing for Texans to have pride but a bad thing for Californians to have pride. Hmm.
Treniss Evans how exactly? they made fun of how butthurt texans get when someone insults them(which is shown by the crowds final reaction), which i find funny. they also made fun of trumps wall which is one of the easiest things to make fun of because of how economically poor that idea is. u r just mad ur feelings got hurt. also i don’t think u get to decide what a disgrace is and isn’t bud.
I’m a Texan and I wasn’t all that offended it was actually pretty funny... what made me upset is how trash their band was. (It’s actually all the more hilarious because they lost, trash band and trash team)
Snowflakes... There have been an overabundance of this type of stuff that this was in bad taste and badly timed. Oh wait, it's from California, that explains it. Next time, stay home.
God Bless Stanford!!!! ❤️❤️👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
LizzieSparrow2 They just stereotyped Texas when the liberal's from California cry over others Stereotyping people from across the nation like other races and religious groups. Hypocritical.
Fuck you california is the L state
Luke Waggoner 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
lmao when they dissed whataburger everyone booed
"They're professional shit talkers"😂😂
I am a horned frog fanatic. The Stanford band was great. Anyone who was offended wanted to be offended. If you know about the history of the Stanford band, then you should not have been surprised. My only disappointment was that they were not as clever as they have been in the past.
John Tanner I completely disagree I'm here to watch a football game not listen to some jackass tell me my state sucks.
I agree, that made me smile and laugh as a native Texan
John Tanner how can you call yourself a Texas native and let your state be joked at
Probably because he's not a whiny ass bitch that can take a joke unlike most of the people here
The first time I ever saw this band was at the Big Game in 1982, this is nothing new. They've been like this for a long time.
That band is the reason no conference wants them after the Pac12 imploded.
Lol I’m a Texan and I loved the show! Have a sense of humor folks!
Right?!?!?!?! It was hilarious
Same
Funny!
Native Texan here: that shit was funny. Y'all need to get over yourselves and learn how to take a joke. The more you react, the happier this band is. They thrive off the reactions, best thing you can do is ignore them if you don't like it.
I was there don’t bring politics in the game, standford band, we are proud Texans from Texas and we are proud American for this beautiful country
Ken M?
Goddamn - not even half time shows are immune. The fucking left has to inject politics into everything. Liberalism is a mental disorder.
Yehudi Menuhin Exactly! 😁😁😁
MetalDetroit Is that the only way you can get a hard on is if someone is waving the flag? I’m watching the Sun Bowl right now and I guess Texas has a short memory (what else of theirs is short) because they invited Stanford back to Texas!
So it’s okay to make fun of Iowa at the 2016 Rose Bowl, but they should be lined up against the wall at the Alamo and shot?
Thankfully, this year, the antithesis, a band with class is coming to the Alamo Bowl: Washington State Cougar Marching Band.
You can see here how they show true sportsmanship in playing the opponents fight song because the visiting band (UW -- biggest rival) bus was in a wreck on the way to the game. They also kept the UW band section roped off from anyone sitting there.
ruclips.net/video/mc4eHWABBtY/видео.html
Only Stanford band members can't read any faster than they can spell
I am ashamed to admit that I live in California
Arianna reyes I used to as well... damn that place is a shithole! Couldn't stand to live in that liberal infested place!
Ignorant reply. You rely on stereotypes rather than fact. Hard to find a place more politically conservative than Orange County, CA. Hard to find a place more liberal than Austin, TX. Insulting Texans will go over well with the crowd...
Daniel Bennett not go over well*
NOT
This is why California is burning.. literally 😂
Danielaaa The Salvy
Hate to say this my love, but you are right.
D in LB
Danielaaa The Salvy LOL!! Yeah... Almost as funny as Texas underwater & flooding for weeks with Hurricane Harvey---not quite as hilarious, but almost. Good times! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I went to TCU. Born and raised in Texas. Have lived in CA for 20 years. NOT FUNNY. Stereotypes not only don't work but also suck. :-)
can they get their band to march in step? I want to get annoyed by the trash talking, but I just can't get over my astonishment at how atrocious the band is. They absolutely would have been failed out of my rural high school band. Some of them would make the cut as freshman, but the standards for a high school sophomore are just so much higher that I don't think there'd be any room for them.
elenchus it’s on purpose lol. their band is known for acting in ways like that.
Yes it on purpose, that's their whole point. They have a tradition of satire, spoof, & tongue in cheeck.
They're not a traditional marching band. They are a "scatter band". Rice University has one as well.
elenchus Marching in step is for Nazis. The proper name for bands that march are Nazi Bands. All bands should be forced to scramble like Stanford, period. If I were the band director of your University, I'd turn them into a scramble band that makes fun of other schools.
@Nestor Pelayo You wouldn't fire me because I'd have you hypnotized to obey my every whim.
They are the original trolls. This all done on purpose to get under your skin. So if you start booing they got you.
Lmao so butthurt
Even the great Johnny Carson layed a few eggs during his monologue.
I read their script on their Twitter page, and honestly, this was funny. it’s funny to poke at ourselves sometimes. Too bad us Texans can’t take jokes.
Landon Smith it was a football game not a political debate that wasn't ok
They totally would have laughed if we had done the same. That's what makes their "attack" on Texas even funnier. It's not their script, it's our reaction.
John Tanner it was done in poor taste was the point
No, it wasn't. You wanted to be offended and you were offended. There was no vulgarity, no nudity, nothing profane. And you fell for it.

And just like the rest of the California's trees, the Stanford band/football team crashed and burned.
Last I checked Stanford beat the crap out of TCU in this game. You saw a bunch of actors playing a scripted game and were brainwashed by hypnotic rays into thinking TCU won.
To be fair losing a game by two points doesn't constitute as crashing and burning
AND... Then they lost.... 😂😂😂 How does that L taste?
David Ortiz they didn’t lose, there’s no way their goal was to go out with cheers after insulting an entire state and most of their political views. they got exactly what they wanted.
Charles F. He ment the game Einstein
What game were you watching? Stanford won this game.
stanfordite I just asked Google, and she says Stanford lost 37 to 39 against TCU. Sorry.
Samuel Hayden You watched actors and were brainwashed by dangerous rays emitting from your TV. I saw Stanford win this game with my own eyes. You are still brainwashed to this day.
HehehehhehehehHhahahahahhahah funny performance
Imagine if this were Alabama
How are they able to keep their composure while doing this
I’m an Oregon Ducks fan these guys in the Stanford band are trolls it would be different if they were funny but there notn
Was in band in Texas and 1. A show like this is very hard to pull off and 2 Most Texans poke fun at this stuff all the time. When did everyone lose their sense of humor and when did booing people become OK? I teach my students that while it's OK not to enjoy something it's not OK to be mean.

HHahahha they lost!
Hell yeah they did
AxKxC, no their goal wasn’t to go out with cheers after insulting an entire state and most of their political views. they got exactly what they wanted.
AxKxC Nope, they won. You watched a different game.
If you are letting that goofball routine offended you a> fell for the gag hook, line, and sinker, and b> have surrendered too much control of your well being to a bunch of college kids from halfway across the country.
idk why yall are getting so offended. this is hilarious. im especially confused as to why texans are getting offended; if the opposite happened (texas band making fun of cali) and people got offended, yall would call them snowflakes.
lol y is everyone so mad? people care too much.
Charles F. Maybe cause he started attacking people's home state and political views for no reason dumbass.
lmao. they are all things that can be criticized. ur a dumbass if u think the whitehouse, every state in the US, and people’s political views can’t be criticized. glad to see people still get their feelings hurt about these things.

The worst thing about this performance was that it sucked. The music and the visual presentation was horrible. How Standford still lets this mess represnt the university is beyond me.
Band Humor
I think you mean Bad Humor
What a disgrace the Stanford band is. It's time the school brought in a taskmaster in and made something of it.
Ha! I support the wall but I thought this was hilarious, especially when they spelled out "PC".
This is truly disconcerting. Never, ever, in my 61 years have I ever heard of a marching band going out of its way to ridicule and show disrespect, even if you call it humor, or even if your found the sarcasm funny, it was disrespectful. If you live in California, near the coast, especially near LA or the Bay Area, you'll be caring a great deal where you live in a few months. You'll wish you lived elsewhere.
I meant nobody cares about your little life story. And FYI I've lived in Texas my whole life.
Many others share my sentiments. The pride of the California Bay Area is high, which is why so many of them look down on the people from the "Fly Over" states, like Texas. They were ridiculing you. What is wrong with them
Asher Herring its humor.
That’s Humor?
Charles F. If you think that was funny you are a legitimate disgrace
I thought it was hilarious, didn't know Texas was full of so many snowflakes!
It’s just a shit performance. It’s also insulting to the people that actually put in effort to get in a college band and fail.
it's just not funny lmao it's kinda sad-cringy not funny-cringy
It's hilarious lmao
Lame jokes. Their parents should ask for all that money they are borrowing to pay for the tuition of the band members.
ZombieCPA if you make less than $100k you go to Stanford for free.
That was mean
Ryan Blake agreed!
Kind of like the MOB (Marching Owl Band) of Rice. Except they are not funny.
False
this is great haha
GO WHATABURGER
These clowns don't know the people and pride of Texas.
Dude. It's satire. Everyone, including Texans, do it. Get that stick out of your ass.
Pride or fascism?
Scott O Obviously, they know you TOO well and how to get to you... 😅
They call that a band? Bring down the longhorns band
Roberto Gutierrez Nope
lmao I wish more bands had a sense of humor in college football
They look a damn mess, and to think I was considering going to this school smh smh
I’m a Texan and I wasn’t all that offended it was actually pretty funny... what made me upset is how trash their band was. (It’s actually all the more hilarious because they lost, trash band and trash team)
I thought the show was funny. It’s clearly meant to poke fun at things and really tongue in cheek
Wow, that's just embarrassing.
amazing that they imbedded politics into this. shameful
so many salty texans lmao
Snowflakes... There have been an overabundance of this type of stuff that this was in bad taste and badly timed. Oh wait, it's from California, that explains it. Next time, stay home.
Yehudi Menuhin You know it! 😆
how are they the snowflakes lol? they spelled mean words on a football field and people are booing them, and you out here complaining too.
