    Just a word of advice from a guy who uses sprayers all the time: put your water in first. Even if you aren't adding additional surfactant, most Roundup/ Ortho (and other pesticides/ herbicides products) include it. It will bubble up like crazy, even when filling slowly. Then you get that nasty foam overflow. All avoided by adding water first, then product, then mix well by teetering the sprayer container and/ or rolling it for several seconds. Bob's your uncle.

    This was exactly what I was looking for. I sure appreciate the details you provided. My neighbor bought their home from someone who thought Chinese Wisteria and Enlish Ivy were perfect to use as a border between our yards. Unfortunately they are out of control and I'm doing the control measures...with their blessing thankfully.

    Sooo helpful! We are deluged with this horrible English ivy from my grandmother's homeplace. It is very heavy in some areas and grows so rapidly. I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. He reminds me a lot of my sweet Daddy.

      You are right. When my daughter married, mom put in sprigs of ivy for the greenery. I left the arrangement outside to enjoy for a while and apparently it took root spreading everywhere in the backyard. That was about 25 years ago and I am still fighting it. Thankful for this video. I will definitely do this. Thanks

    @amieb823 This is the best advice I've seen, and thank you for sharing. I'm so sorry to learn that your Grandfather has passed. As he said, I bought 12 sprigs about 25 years ago and now I'm totally invaded!! I have removed a lot from the trees, just the way he showed. I figured that out myself, but I hesitated to use anything like Roundup. I simply won't. The information he shared about the glyphosate becoming inert when it hits the dirt was a nugget of information I had never heard before. Thank you again and if you can, keep up you and your Granddads' good help to those of us who are ignorant. 😀

    Thank you! this was very thorough. I wondered about this though -- isn't there a risk of breathing the glyphosate while spraying? I really appreciated your kind thoughts about how overwhelming the problem is, and how neighbors could work together to address the problem.

    • @beckyh685

      Yes, glyphosate is a carcinogen, and stays in the soil. Beware.

    I am battling a bunch of this ivy that came from the neighbors yard. I have been using a product called Brush Killer from Lowe's. Seems to slowly be working to kill it. It is also under my trees which are 30 giant arborvitae 20 ft tall and packed together. I will have to try and rip it out of there as I don't want to kill the trees. What a nuisance this ivy is!!!

    Hi there, I appreciate your video, and thank you for such.
    I was looking for a way to say bye bye to the ivy and felt sorry for myself in having it, but then saw how much you were dealing with and now feel rather foolish
    but we all know how very invasive it is and having this against brickwork it is damaging the bricks, so if you please know of how to deal with this please let me know.
    I will greatly appreciate the help, however would like to use less chemicals if at all possible as I have pets to think of and the invasive ivy is at close quarters to living
    area, just off the patio bricks and also on another part of living area.
    Stay safe and best wishes to you.
    Maureen from England/UK

    Never use epsom salt.
    Epsom salt is not a "TRUE SALT". It is used as a fertilizer in gardens and other situations.

    • @drusillawinters212
      @drusillawinters212 Год назад

      I don't know what you think a true salt is, but magnesium sulfate i.e. epsom salt is a salt to any chemist. It should not be used as fertilizer. You have gotten bad advice from someone. You can use it to soak sore feet, but that is about all it is good for.

    • @joyces2222
      @joyces2222 10 дней назад

      The minerals are the fertilizer referred to. Over salting might be an issue, check on amounts used. It is great for many plants.
