I have been following the story of Kumari Kandam for almost a decade now. With very scant scientific info available on it, yet it being mentioned in several ancient texts, it leaves it shrouded with mystery. Since the earth has gone through several phases of techtonic plate shifts, it could also be possible that Kumari Kandam did not "sink", but instead drifted and it could very well be the Antartica we know today. AFAIK Antartica has been largely unexplored and there is no scientific scanning of the land below the ice in Antartica. Who knows, may be there is a civilization frozen in time beneath the thick ice sheets. Also, I have read that there were huge animals called "Yazhi" that were the size of 4 elephants with a lion like head. In today's temples we often see similar carvings of animals like Yazhi at the main entrance of temple and pillars. Maybe not much is known about Kumari Kandam today, but there's enough evidence staring back at us that could not be ignored about this mysterious land, for example the unknown origin of the tamil civilization, Yazhi carvings on temples, presence of lemurs in continents spread wide apart, common story in different religions of Manu and his ship, Noah's ark.

The concept of Kumari Kandam makes sense. Ancient Tamil Kings once ruled from South India to South East Asia. There might have been a continent. Also, Tamil people are generous and have rich cultural heritage. All of these didn't happen in a night.

The Pandiyan kings came inwards and conquered as much land as they lost to the sea. Means the land mass that went down was as much as the area up to present Madurai. I am not sure Kumari Nadu was as big as a huge continent touching Australia and. Africa. But certainly it included Srilanka. There were mountain ranges in this land mass as well as rivers. The Pandiyan kings built their third capital after the tsunami which is present day Madurai. There was a second capital too called Kapatapuram which is Sanskrit. Not sure if there was a Tamil name. Valmiki Ramayan has mentioned the location of Ravan's Lanka at 0°longitude & 0°latitude - the equator. 0°longitude was at Ujjain in those times. Check out the videos on Younger Dryas which was a sudden massive increase in sea levels (about 12,900 BCE - 11,700 BCE). The dates are not very clear, but there is evidence. You should also check out some of Nilesh Oak ji's content where he brings significant evidence regarding Younger Dryas and the pre-deluvian period. Another tip - Pandyan king Malayadwaja/Sharangadwaja Pandyan has been mentioned in Mahabharat. So the kingdom existed during the Mahabharat times whose time is still a controversy. Kumari Kandam is a fascinating subject surrounded by myths and legends. The description of Kumari Kandam as a land of cities where wealth and culture flourished can be identified as Sri Lanka. However, the dates clash and do not allow for a consensus. The lost continent of Lemuria must have existed millions of years ago, If so, then it cannot have anything to do with Tamil culture which only dates to c. 1000 BC. Kumari Kandam might refer to the Indus sites in Sri Lanka that may have been swallowed by the sea. This is a simple explanation. But it is the disappearance of the Indus civilisation that is the greatest mystery of all time. The disappearance of the Indus people and Old Tamil coincides with the arrival of the Arian race into India. The landmasses of India, Madagascar and Australia were joined togather near south pole as super continent Gondwana. They then split and moved away to the current location. So they have common plants and animals. This was based on the theory of continental shift of Wegner published in 1912 and accepted now. Scalter was a theory published in 1864 before the continental shift. There is no land called kumari lands or Lemuria.
Here in Kanyakumari, they say Kanyakumari Bhagavathi temple was in Kumari kandam earlier... Later , it was rebuilt at the present location. Kumari means young girl who is not married in Tamizh that's how we refer Kanyakumari Devi here.

I have been following the story of Kumari Kandam for almost a decade now. With very scant scientific info available on it, yet it being mentioned in several ancient texts, it leaves it shrouded with mystery. Since the earth has gone through several phases of techtonic plate shifts, it could also be possible that Kumari Kandam did not "sink", but instead drifted and it could very well be the Antartica we know today. AFAIK Antartica has been largely unexplored and there is no scientific scanning of the land below the ice in Antartica. Also, I have read that there were huge animals called "Yazhi" that were the size of 4 elephants with a lion like head. The Pandiyan kings came inwards and conquered as much land as they lost to the sea. Means the land mass that went down was as much as the area up to present Madurai. I am not sure Kumari Nadu was as big as a huge continent touching Australia and. Africa. But certainly it included Srilanka. There were mountain ranges in this land mass as well as rivers. The Pandiyan kings built their third capital after the tsunami which is present day Madurai. There was a second capital too called Kapatapuram which is Sanskrit. Not sure if there was a Tamil name. They say it is present day Kayalpattinam a small sleepy village now and the port city is covered in silt and became shallow and no longer in use. Valmiki Ramayan has mentioned the location of Ravan's Lanka at 0°longitude & 0°latitude - the equator. 0°longitude was at Ujjain in those times.
So if we go south from Ujjain till the equator, we end up in the center of Indian Ocean, which was the location of Ravan's Lanka and which is also the center of Lemuria / Kumarikandam!
So current SriLanka is not Ravan's Lanka. and so called Ram Setu is not the current Adam's bridge. BJP just don't want TN to progress. They will stop Sethu Kaalvaai just because they get stomach burns from TN's growth.

The channel would be dredged in the Sethusamudram sea between Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka, passing through the limestone shoals of Rama's Bridge which is also known as Ram Setu, Ramar Palam, and Adam's Bridge.
What is the Sethusamudram project?
Sethusamudram project is aimed at constructing a shorter navigational route around India’s southern tip by breaching the Ram Sethu, said to have been built by Lord Rama’s army of monkeys and bears to Ravana’s kingdom Lanka.

As per the Sethusamudram project, the shipping channel is proposed to be 30 mt wide, 12 mt deep, and 167 km long.
The court, on August 31, 2007, had restrained the Centre from damaging Ram Sethu while dredging for the Rs. 25,000 crore project inaugurated in 2005.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad-led groups had opposed the project on the grounds it would destroy a rock and sand ridge created by the divine hand as recounted in the Ramayana.
According to a report by the LIVE Mint, the Supreme Court’s final hearing on the matter was scheduled on 6th April 2018. However, the hearing has been withheld indefinitely.
The controversy behind Ram Setu
According to a PTI report, to complete the Sethusamudram project, Ram Setu was needed to be demolished. This sparked a major political controversy in the country under the then UPA government. According to mythological belief, Ram Setu is a bridge between India and Sri Lanka which was built by Lord Rama and his army to rescue Sita and defeat Ravana and his kingdom Lanka. This led to a huge dispute and the matter reached the Supreme Court. After hearing the case, the apex court banned the project and asked the government to find an alternate route for the project. Since then the work on this project has been completely stopped.
However, the biggest political controversy over this project began when the Congress-led UPA government submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court that Ram Setu was a 'imaginary' and hence there was no problem with the project. This hurt the sentiments of the people after which the government took a U-turn by giving a new affidavit listing reasons why the project was important. However, the work was stopped after the SC's direction but since then BJP has been demanding to declare Ram Setu as a monument of national importance and the matter is currently pending in the court.

Check out the videos on Younger Dryas which was a sudden massive increase in sea levels (about 12,900 BCE - 11,700 BCE). The dates are not very clear, but there is evidence. You should also check out some of Nilesh Oak ji's content where he brings significant evidence regarding Younger Dryas and the pre-deluvian period.
Another tip - Pandyan king Malayadwaja/Sharangadwaja Pandyan has been mentioned in Mahabharat. So the kingdom existed during the Mahabharat times whose time is still a controversy.
