My grandpa used this camera to capture pictures of freighters (big ships) that went past his house. For Christmas he gave me his whole camera set with this camera! Your video helped me understand how to use it thank you so much!
I've had my XS for about 8 years and never really understood the best way to use it. Your instruction was fantastic and easy to follow. Thank you. (Now I can go take pictures for my daughter's Prom! 🙂 )
You are an excellent instructor....you make things easy to understand and you have an excellent speaking voice. You've made the use of my canon rebel xs a breeze. Thank you very much David.
i got this camera 11 years ago and used it just a few times and never got to know any thing about it . so it so valuable for me to see this video , gracias.

Hi David, I had another look at video 3. I am still not sure I got it. If you find the time, can you tell me where in the Video a 'fleshing out' of the back button feature can be found. Appreciated.

Hello! Do you recomend this camera for my first camera? A friend is selling to me with 2 lens 18-55mm and 75-300mm, bag, 4 memories and 3 batteries. I want it for hobbie, nothing profesional. Thanks and excellent video!
hello i have this camera and i would like to take pictures with a digicam or 2000s style effect and also get the eyes to have that little red glow in the eyes
Well, this is from that 2000s era so it should be right up your alley. For the red eyes, check out the section in this video on flash and that should explain how all the flash modes work and what you need to do for that look.
I think the photo mode you're asking about is just the photo mode dial on top. For people, center-weighted metering works and then the rest is how you control the light.
That neutral parameter you’re recommending in the styles menu. Am I correct in thinking that only applies to JPEG, And if you use one of the other styles it wouldn’t have an effect on RAW images?
@@danielchartrand4310 sounds right. Lenses have a minimum focus distance -- hope far away you need to be from the subject for the lens to focus on it. That distance varies by lens. If you're unable to obtain focus unless you're 3-4 feet from your subject, your lens simply can't focus that close. The camera won't let you take photos until it can focus on something.
You need a wide lens. Check out my Round Glass Review for the Irix 15mm. The Firefly version of that lens is affordable and will work well. Sadness is true of the Irix 11mm. Also you want a solid tripod like a Manfrotto work a three-way head.
i've had this camera since it came out. i just found live feed yesterday! you have to toggle through the menu settings to turn live feed on - there's an option that literally says "live feed"
You can connect this to a telescope if you want. But in practical use, you should not have a shutter speed slower than your lens' focal length. So if you have a 500mm lens, which is effectively an 800mm lens on APS-C Canon cameras, then you need to have one that's fast enough, or be in a setting with enough light, to let the shutter speed be at or, preferably, much faster than 1/800th. If you have a tripod you can go a bit slower than that.

How do I change picture ratio on this camera?

Alternatively, in the off chance you're in Denver, let me know. I'm looking to build my real estate portfolio.
Is there any way to see the picture you are taking on the lcd screen instead of the view finder?
Not with this camera. This model pre-dates live view in entry-level cameras.
