The nervous system of this woman! I have never heard Yuja Wang before and this is incredible. She is able to play the melody and the accompaniment at top speed, changing voices for the different characters - I've never heard Erlkonig sung with such chilling witchcraft. She made every shift of character clear. An amazing talent.
Pity, no matter how fast you play, it is still too slow. [SPOILER ALERT] The boy still died in the end, the horse was too slow to reach the courtyard. But Yuja came close to saving the boy.
Benjammin', if you haven’t already looked it up, a child is attacked by the Erlkönig (Alder-King) and the father chases to try and save him, the father rushes back to the home but is too late and the child dies in his arms
Compared to the other versions I've heard so far, hers is the only performance in which you can actually here the different melodies representing each character in the original song. Excellent
