Thank you for being so open about the entire process, it's interesting indeed! I feel that the monetization is important as it allows fiber creators to dedicate time to improve the content as kniting is not a piece a cake and making content around knitting is also hard, I remember when I discovered your channel I was very impressed with the quality of your videos and you definitely deserve a big following! I definitely learn from you and from other knitting RUclipsrs!

absolutely, thank you so much for following along & commenting!! i've spent a long time putting work into this channel without being paid & i love spending time on it but am also really excited to start getting even a small return on my investment haha

Thanks for posting this - I've watched a lot of these sorts of videos but I hadn't seen any knitting-related ones! I think I've had the opposite journey to you in that I gained a lot of watch hours quickly but found it really hard to gain subscribers. I think because I started out posting long form tutorials/informational videos rather than podcast-style ones, people spent a lot of time watching them but didn't subscribe because they were just looking for one-off info about a particular technique rather than wanting to hang around and watch me (if that makes sense). You're making me want to make a video like this myself now :p. Anyway thanks again, I've really been loving your channel and I'm glad you pushed through the initial discouragement and kept going! Congrats on getting monetised :)

thank you for the comment! and yes that totally makes sense - thinking about it now, i feel like my content is definitely more on the side of content that people would want to watch if they were interested in *me* (i.e. podcast episodes, talking about my knitting goals, etc.) so it kind of makes sense that it took a while for me to gain watch hours - i had to build more of a base of people who were interested in me & hearing my opinions haha. it's so interesting to think about this stuff, and i'd definitely be interested to watch if you make a video talking about your journey!!

I love the insights you’re giving us into all of this! I’m a data nerd so I’ve combed through my analytics a bit, but it’s quite nice to hear insights and reflections from someone else , also related to the videos that do or do not generate many watch hours

Same! Only now I've discovered RUclips studio and looked at my analitică and discovered that my most watched videos are of me knitting whilst my cats are all over me, I think I have a niche 😅
